Chorus:
New York
Like a scene from all those movies
But you're real enough to me
There's a heart
A heart that lives in New York

Artie’s voice is an angel walking the earth
I just have the CD which I have played over and over. In circa 1979 I saw Art at the Cleveland Musical Hall??, a smaller venue. They darkened the stage. On came one spotlight and Art sang Bridge Over Troubled Waters, seemingly a cappella. I still can visualize it in my mind!
Coz his british but simon...)
😢❤love thid song
@@blackknight9413 i mean both are askenazim. Amazing voices.
I'm 63 yrs old. I'm sitting here just wanting to hear one particular Simon & Garfunkle song (American Tune) ... over an hour later I'm still sitting here, now with a tear running down my cheek. So, so, so much water under the bridge since I first heard the music of these fabulous artists. To those of more recent generations, please cherish these sounds and keep them alive, for the sake of the art.
We will ❤
Or at least I will...
I'm 13 so at least some young people listen to it.
Amen! Today’s music doesn’t hold a comparison! I’m that I grew up without the internet, cellphones, and social media. People actually socialized with one another face-to-face and kids played outside. And, the music back then was and still is a vital part of life. I agree with you that yesterday’s music should NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!😊
I am a 56 years old brazilian, and I've been listening ang loving Simon and Garfunkel songs for the last 35 years. I still cry after some songs. They brings me my deeper emotions.
Looks like I was in NY with them while they composed.
I 've never been in US and never been with them but they will be with me till the end.
Thanks Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel.

What a concert - two guys playing 20 songs just with them, their voices, guitar and very few backing band. Standing there - no dramatic lightshow, no dancing and running on the stage, just hands on guitar (Paul) or in the pocket (Art) and singing magic tunes. Songs for eternity.
The band is not small, but they are top class, too.
There was something supernatural about them both that night.
It was all of us.
I agree. ❤
Yes there was. My mom had been playing their albums for years. We were dirt poor and starving, but that concert resonated with me and my brother at the time.
I would feel much safer with all them people around then to go wandering alone after dark....
It was truly magical….and beautiful
Listen, kids ... no auto-tune. Art just opens his gob and out comes ... *perfection*
What is gob? Bro
Phill Wainewright 🙏
The kids have never heard anything w/o autotune. Even their social media has it. So much garbage. (sigh) D.A., Chelsea, NYC
@@davidanderson9664 you're pretty shallow to think all music these days has auto tune
@@odiasaplaystationn14p20 gob = mouth.🗣🎤🎼🎶🎶
As Art Garfunkel sang in this song, they say you should not wander in Central Park after dark. Strange to say, hundreds of thousands of people gathered there to listen to the legendary duo...
How I wish I had been there!
i am in love with 1981 art garfunkel 🥰🥰🥰
Me too 😍😍😍
Written by Gallagher & Lyle from Largs in Scotland. Beautifully performed by Art ❤
Yes David that was what
I was just thinking imagine first song written by Scottish artist ❣️
tip of the hat to a Benny Gallagher and Graham Lyle classic , 2 of Scotlands finest musicians
Art Garfunkel..No vibrato, just an honest, pure voice with spot-on pitch.
Actually, he does have vibrato. Lots of it. It's just so subtle and non-domineering. Greatest vocal control of any 60s-70s musician.
The greatest live performance ever!
Art was so handsome at this concert. I love rewatching all these videos. He has beautiful eyes and an angel voice!
It's pure art....
Ah! Que saudades dos meus 15anos....amo essa Banda❤
Art how Beautiful hearing your voice
gosh he is gorgeous
I went to this concert the week I moved to NYC. Birth of a lifelong New Yorker that night.
Amazing
A history in the making my friend
Great !!! I guess you are still a New Yorker !
I'm in love with his eyes.... sigh... 😍
Me, too.
not with his teeth though I imagine
Me too 😍
Shivers on my backhead when I ear the crowd reacting when he sings "New York... lookin' down on Central Park"
I was a kid when I watched this concert on HBO and this song and the whole of the atmosphere that night made me decide to move to NYC when I grew up, where I lived for 17 years.
I love Art !❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
"This is almost the only song in the show thats not a um Paul Simon hit" - What an incredible song!
This was inspired by Laurie Bird to a large extent and her memory. Cant help feeling that she was a wonderful soul who left us too early.
What a beautiful voice coming out of such a beautiful face. Artie you are the best of the best. Happy 80th birthday. I love you more every year. Many many more.🎂
Truly beautiful 💗
Artie I love your voice
the most beautyful voice ever!!!
Easily
Garfunkel ❤❤❤❤
How beautiful
I can hear it 200 million times and still not get enough of it! Love this song!
It's exactly like this!!!
You tooo....
Sandra Jollie totally agree. Stunning!
Me too
i just heard it for the 201 millionth time and still can't get enough of it! Love this song!
So beautifule voice so strangely beautifule face and eyes love this singer
Paul makes beautiful songs and Art turns them in extremely sweet melodies , what a couple!
I think Art Garfunkel wrote the lyrics on this song.
written by Lyle/Gallagher from Scotland
Paul Simon had nothing to do with this song.
So clever, the way Art sings 'heart' and the background melody picks up the heartbeat! ❤
Lovely song, lovely version written by two Scottish lads from Largs. Gallagher and Lyle.
Happy birthday, Art. Unforgotten song in an unforgotten concert.
Art is such a good person God gifted him with a superb voice his voice is so melodic and romantic
A semelhança de vozes entre o Art Garfunkel e o Phil Collins é impressionante!
Love you Art ♥️
Me too! He is so handsome!
Can't stop looking to his eyes. Its shining !!!
Me too 😍
Even with less hearts beating each day in NYC there is still a Heart.
Turns out morbid obesity isn’t healthy. Who would have guessed huh.
Agree💙💙 Well written👍
Twenty years ago, on 9/11, this was the song that went through my head. Best comment on the day was anonymous: "It's like New York had it two front teeth knocked out". Big love to the New Yorkers from New Zealand.
Thank you Artie!!! It is such a pleasure to iistening to beautiful angelic voice!!!
New York looking down on Central Park , a Heart in New York . 19 Sept 1981. I will never forget these two man , Simon & Garfunkel ! What a Beauty , and New York we all love it ! Art what a Song....🕊
Like an angel.....
My Mother was 20 yrs old when she went to this free concert in Central Park ...She played the album all the time....great stuff!
Beautifull
I have been to many Capitol cities around the world, but only in New York do you get that feeling of POWER, of something excusite, as Art Garfunkel says in this song you "have money on your mind" this says what I want to say.
My second favourite city , New York I love you, 'I've seen you in all those movies, but you are real enough to me'... this song transports me to you.I can't wait to 'fly from London to your door' again one day
I used to have a poster over my bed in my childhood home of Simon and Garfunkel. In the 1960s. Don't you know I took their song April to heart, and moved to New York City..its amazing the power of song memory and imagination❤
To be in New York in Central Park and live this concert...that's all.
Sure wish I were there at that concert. Someone make a time machine please.
Me too 🥺🥺would give everything to be there!
So do I
Sitting here listening, crying, thinking of the hundreds of thousands of Covid-19 victims in NYC and everywhere else. May that heart of New York still beat for us all through these dark times. With love from Oklahoma
Never forget the lads from Largs wrote this beautiful song lads who wrote "Breakaway" and "the Runaway" and the best ever "I believe in You" do yourself a favour and listen and admire they were brilliant. This you so much Graham and Bernie
One of my favorite songs. I wish I could have been there.
I could hear this all day..
THE BEST.
+Bhetina Gomes... quando puder visite a comunidade no Facebook: 80s The Era of the Sounds, sobre música e cinema dos anos 80. Obrigado.
Dang it! I just teared up and I don't exactly know why. I will say that this song, like Artie's amazing voice, is beautiful.
È vero, la musica sa essere come... "A bridge on troubled water" ...
Fantastic Song! Angel voice, magic guitar, and central park: legendary!
Beatiful song fantastic voice!
I love you, deeply!!!
Beautiful Art 🧡
My 24 year old boy flies out to New York tomorrow and just felt he must hear this 🎶👌❤️
Have to mention
this song writen by Gallagher and Lyle Scottish musicians ❣️
A beautiful song that encapsulates the best city in the world. New York City has that little big of magic in it.
It’s actually a bit critical of NYC, if you analyze it.
New Yorker here!
Garfunkle was my favourite... Simon's book convinced me I was'nt wrong in choice... pity they cld'nt have put aside petty stuff & just worked together... Ego can be an awful thing... Garfunkle had ethereal voice... almost angelic.... together .... WOW!
denny smith but they did get back together! They had a reunion in 2002-2003. My family went to those concerts.
Me too 😍😍😍
Chants of praises of songs and feel the peace it has given to us by shading a tears!!
Superb.Art was amazing that night,as was Paul
I own this DVD and everytime he says: Look down on Central Park. "I cry"
Born and raised in ile New York...fantastic place.
John Lennon thought so too... cld walk almost anywhere undisturbed ... almost anywhere...
Listening to Art and these beautiful words makes me think, what on Earth happened to this world in 2020??
Probably my favorite on the album
Preparing to move from New York City after 17 years here and this song has me in puddles. Here’s to you, New York ❤️🥂
Beautiful song!
I love Simon & Garfunkel since 1979!
Just fantastic and brilliant
Wish I could have been there brilliant 😍😍
'New York, you've got money on your mind, and my words won't make a dime's, worth of difference..."
Chills.
This song goes through my mind everytime I am touching down at LGA, looking forward to a weeks vacay in NYC. Always great.
Amoooooo Garfunkel ❤❤❤❤👏👏👏👏👏👏
Magical! ❤️
What a wonderful tribute to New York🇺🇸
Yessssssss
Just sweet.
Just the best.
Thank You, from Brasil.
Fabulous!!
After 1,5 yr of pandemic worldwide, American Tune got a new meaning to me. Something about "dreams shattered" and "most uncertain hour" got surprinsingly familiar...
Great song and performance!
1:52 the way he said new york is just perfect
Magnifique voix,
That is exactly what I feel hearing the songs of theese great artist. I'm 63 years old- also the same like you 😊
Magnificent! Fabulous! Wonderful!
Love so much music of Simon and Garfunkel,Oldies but Goldie’s that me saying
what a great song, and the guitars, mind blowing
Beautiful!
Einfach nur cool
I wish these guys would go on tour one last time AND that tickets were affordable. I grew up on these tunes & love every one of them!
Oh give it a rest already. Everyone has to retire sometime, voices don’t last forever. I wish they were still young and strong enough to tour, too. They are both 79 years old now and Art’s voice is nearly gone. And with the COVID neither are leaving home much anymore.
Neither of them can sing anymore. You had your time.
So many that can’t sing anymore: Linda Ronstadt, Julie Andrews…Phil Collins has major health problems and of course, Karen Carpenter has been gone for so long. The time has passed for the older generation, but there is always hope that new and truly talented singers and musicians can emerge.
@@thefonzkiss the Fonz had it too:)
**Tanks**I'LOVE... IT... THE BEST...🌹🌹🌹
I love this song thanks for this video and thanks art for the beautiful voice wow so amazing
I love his voice, Art your melodies go right to my soul
