    What's crazy about this is that we're getting this kind of performance from a mini pc that is about the same size as a MinisForum EM780. Wow!

    I've been using this for about a month and I love it lol. Slapped a 1TB sd card and I've loaded well over 100+ games in between AAA, classics, indie games, and emulation. It legit just handles everything lol. yes it's not a max it out machine but you'd be surprised how much more fps you can get thanks to Adrenalin software features like RSR etc, while not hurting too much the visual quality. Everything bro said in this review was spot on from the temps to performance, it's really a neat PC.
    It's the perfect little rig for me to take anywhere I want and chew away at my backlog of games that I have yet to finish (and still play big games like MW3, OW2, Helldivers 2, Diablo 4 and other coop/mp games with my friends and family!) I got it for about $600 even after an Amazon coupon for it!
    Funny story I sold my big PC I spent thousands on with a 4080 for this.
    Life has changed alot for me and so have my priorities so I wasn't really down with having that huge giant 40lb behemoth lying around in my house, and the fact too it is not portable at all 😂
    And the biggest thing is yea that rig I maxed everything out 4k, but technically I'm getting the same "fps" on this mini PC, albeit just running at anywhere from 720-1080p and maybe tinkering a setting or two down. So to me it don't really matter and I don't really care anymore for the 4k fiasco going on lol. I just wanna play my games simply enough when I have the time to!

    Man, you really were pushing the size comparisons. lol 😂 Love the "Tea bag" transition too! This is really making me consider picking up that new DS 7840u device... Please do a size comparison in that video with the Retroid Pocket Flip. I really want to see the differences and pocketability of it. Thanks and keep up the great work!

    • @ekinteko
      @ekinteko 7 місяців тому +3

      It depends if you wear baggy clothes. The Retroid Pocket Flip isnt pocketable in regular clothing, its just a tad too large. Same as the PowKiddy X18. The Retroid Pocket 4 itself is smaller, and really stretches the limits of pocketability so I would look at those dimensions or smaller. The PS Vita Slim, which aged like wine, is the gold standard for form factor.

    • @ekinteko
      @ekinteko 7 місяців тому +3

      In terms of clamshell devices, the Nintendo DS Lite is the best out there. The (small) new3DS is fine too, and pocketable. But any of the XL or 2DS models are not. None of the NSwitch models are pocketable.
      There is the GPD Win Mini, and it's a bit larger than the Retroid Pocket Flip. So again not really pocketable. There's the slightly smaller GPD Win 2, that's pretty close. And the GPD Win 1 which is even smaller, and yes, that one is controversial if it's considered portable or pocketable.
      I would say there isnt any Flip devices that are pocketable outside of the Nintendo DS, DSi, Lite, 3DS, and new3DS. And also the Game Nano and the PowKiddy V90, but those are cheap and underpowered.
      If you want the best bang for buck, in terms of portability, look for a candybar style. If you want the screen protection, a Glass Protector, will usually give you enough protection. I dont have an answer for the sticks tho. Some devices have pop-in sticks for portability, others have screw/removable tops. But I know putting a front case on a device like this, is wasted space, and you won't be getting best space efficiency.
      My solution?
      Get the Google Pixel 8 Pro, or the Samsung S24+. Then put the case on it from the Samsung Note 9. Now you can throw advanced joycons on it from the Razer JungleCat. When you're done gaming, just remove both JungleCat controllers, put them together, and slide them in one pocket. There is your pocketable gaming experience.
      The alternative, like using an iPhone 13 Mini and a Retroid Pocket 4 Pro... well, they will be using two pockets as well. So it's not better, actually slightly worse. But the benefit is that you can access two different App Ecosystems. Plus you can dedicate one device for work, and the other for entertainment, which is good for simplicity and security reasons.

    • @randomchicken8404
      @randomchicken8404 7 місяців тому +1

      @@ekintekoI would say that s24+ would be good if the highest emulation you cared about was switch and 3ds. Otherwise I’d get the ayaneo ds as it’s the only clamshell device that can run every emulator up to ps3 and 360. I have a new 3dsxl but the screen quality,resolution, and ergonomics make it hard for me to play any games on it so ayaneo ds is looking very compelling but I’m of course waiting for the rgc review before purchasing

    • @ekinteko
      @ekinteko 7 місяців тому +1

      @@randomchicken8404 Well, that is not pocketable. That is like an iPad/Tablet in the Portable category. It is for indoor use, around the lounge room, and if you want to take it anywhere it comes in your backpack. And whilst that specific device might be good for you, I have a hard time recommending Ayaneo products.
      Which means you can look at other devices too in this size. There is the AYN Odin2 which is cheap, but has limitation as running ARM/Android software. Around the same price you can get the old/cheapest Valve SteamDeck. It doesn't have the best compatibility, but you sure can get a lot done. One step up, and I'd say go for the SteamDeck OLED, similar experience just better screen AND better battery life. And one step higher is the ASUS ROG Ally, it comes with Windows, newer chipset, and a screen that won't burn-in and is 120Hz fluid for light tasks. The step up from that is the GPD Win-Max-3 which is similar but adds a keyboard, so you can input text for Programs easily, and it doubles as a netbook/small laptop.
      Where the RP4+ basically stops at Wii Emulation, a device like the QC 8g3 in the S24+ can add PS Vita emulation and light NSwitch. The SteamDeck can extend that to Xbox, PS Vita, and light emulation of 360, PS3, Wii and NSwitch. And the higher devices can extend that to doing heavy emulation of those systems. If you step up to a Desktop PC, you can also add PS4 Emulation to that list.
      All in all, it really depends what you want out of it. I have different targets to hit for my electronics in the near future:
      Phone = Google/Android
      Tablet = Apple/iOS
      Laptop = Microsoft/Windows
      Desktop = Open-Source/ZorinOS
      Console = Proprietary/PlayStation
      Razer JungleCat with S24+
      GameSir G8 with iPad Mini 7
      dGPU build with Frameworks 16
      Custom System for dualboot ZorinOS
      And a Stock PS5 Pro when it releases soon

    Oh man I saw your video on the homepage and I was like ;"Yeah man, I wanna see it." I loved every second of your video! If you could pair this Mini-PC up with a Nexdock360, because it caps on 60hz, it would be a killer combo. The new XL version(that comes out in Q2) has 120hz, but is overkill when compared to the specs used in the vid. In a hotelroom AR-Glasses would be the best choice.. I think

    The dual boot thingy is relatively easy to fix, with the trade-off that overall security would be reduced. You can remove bitlocker by decrypting the C: drive ("manage-bde -off c:" from a command prompt with elevated privileges) and then turn off secure boot. Then it would boot fine into windows, while also dual-booting (but of course, you would now have a decrypted C: drive and secure boot disabled, which are less than ideal for some people with regards to security)

    Also constructive criticism…. The multiple size comparisons throughout the video didn’t land for me. Definitely living up the the company name here! I like the design and am surprised by the performance. I'm all handheld-ed out, lol, I'm really at my limit there now. This would be a great addition to a long trip with lots of hotel room time, a large screen TV is a better option than a handheld for sure. But the price really put me off to it. I just built a mini PC using AMD's new 8600G just for that purpose, and it cost me about the same money and I have infinitely more upgrade-ability down the road.

      RDNA3 is somewhere between 1050ti and 1060 so can look up how those perform. FSR2 will help as well.

    Greatest video you ever made. I was laughing out loud at the comparisons after every segment. 😂 wish you put a sandwich next to it

    Pretty cool. I'd still prefer the deck for gaming since it's a complete package. For this even if it's small you still need an the power supply, external monitor, keyboard, mouse, controller... But for a pc substitute for lightweight usage it's great.

    I love my SteamDeck but not ideal for multiplayer on the go. I would love to see something like this built as a portable gaming device with a flip up screen of about 8 inches and a massive battery. Back in the early 2000s I had the PS1 with a screen, I'd throw it in my backpack and where ever my friends and I could find an outlet we'd bust it out and play.

    I get that it's a cute meme to compare this device to different household items, but for clarity I do wish that you'd also included the standard size measurement of Kerrygold butter.

    I think we need a follow up video on this PC. There just weren’t enough size comparisons in this one.

    You know, I'm not sure if I could tell how small it was.. Maybe you should do a size comparison video with specs and testing thrown in here and there? 💚

    It's a nice little system, but I just wish the storage could be upgraded to like 4 TB instead of 2 TB because I would have liked to install Bazzite onto it while keeping Windows just so the Windows-only games I would play on Windows and for everything else I would play using Bazzite instead, and I am pretty sure Kingdom Hearts 3 can be played on high settings with that since the UM690S is able to play that game on medium settings and get a solid 60 fps.
