    Those protectors really make a difference. Usually those N64 boxes are in pretty rough shape. Oddly enough, Bomberman 64 was the first time I played a Bomberman game as well. We had a ton of fun playing that in multiplayer mode back in the day.

    Honestly, this is a great collection. Excellent collection! Great to hear a bit about your history with each game, and nice to see that you're still able to get joy out of games of that era!

    The Nintendo 64 was the first console my family had so I have some wonderful memories with it. I made the games I had LAST in the time the system was supported. For years Ocarina of Time, Pokemon Stadium 2, Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 64 and Banjo Tooie were all I played until the GameCube came out. My collection has increased in recent years but those five days especially hold a place in my heart.

    I never realized Wave Race 64 was only 2 players! I played so much of it with my dad when I was a youngin, I always figured it was 4-that and yoshi's story are my most nostalgic n64 titles. I was too young to fully enjoy this era (grew up more so with GCN/NDS) but you def have most of the heavy hitters from my childhood great vid :3

    Thanks for sharing your wonderful collection, memories and opinions.
    I love Ridge Racer 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Tennis and especially 1080 Snowboarding, amongst many of the titles shown here.
    A brilliant console that still holds up well for the most part.

    Great collection. I love the N64 too. It holds it's own against the PS1 and Saturn in my opinion.

    Nice, solid library. I need to get myself some of those box protectors for the few boxes I have.
    I could never stand the collect-athon style games that Rare put out, but loved a lot of their other stuff. I just felt like they were purposefully (and sometimes unfairly) wasting my time. I can appreciate your point of wanting games to have length from a value perspective, but that was never something I looked for in a game, despite only getting a couple games a year.
    I think the majority of people vastly prefer TYD to the original PM but I will always have a soft spot for the original. I love the world it created and there was lots of bonding with my family over it.
    The N64, to me, felt like the first system that was specifically designed to be played multiplayer. The multiple controller slots, colourful controllers, and release of titles like Smash Bros, Goldeneye, and Mario Tennis (or even including minigames like in Kirby 64) really set the stage.

    Loved this video, Craig--Favorite 64 game of all time is Jet Force Gemini. I wasn't allowed to play violent games like Mortal Kombat, but gore and violence from bugs was totally okay with my mom. Also, Mic sounds great!

      It can be a little weird where parents draw the line on violence, right? I’m glad you got to play Jet Force Gemini at least. It was a lot of fun!

    Very nice collection, Craig! The N64 is still a favorite console of mine, mainly because it was so instrumental in getting me into games as a kid. So many fond memories playing Diddy Kong Racing with my sister, Perfect Dark with my friends, and Mario Party with cousins. Also a console I get out on a regular basis to revisit my favorites. Thanks for sharing your collection and memories with us!

    I was a PlayStation kid in the 90s so only got to play N64 through friends. Was always jealous of the scale & comparative depth in N64 games. Goldeneye sticks out clearly. Only got to play Goldeneye multiplayer in my late teens. Hungover finding out "prox mines only in the facility" was my buddy's favourite game type was very painful. Lol. Pro tip, don't run forward. Or anywhere.
    The switch from 16 bit to 32 / 64 was my favourite era in gaming, nothing has really been as exciting for me since.

    Funny coincidence that you post this video the same day the rumors come out of the Switch bringing N64 games to its online service!

      Oh, haha, she’s peering through a black hole. It’s from an art series called Welcome New World and features a variety of girls looking or falling into black holes into other universes. I have a bunch of stickers from the series!

    Great collection! Nice to see someone appreciate this console as I feel it gets a bad rap these days. Donkey Kong 64 was my childhood, the soundtrack alone is pure magic.

    • @tvandlust
      @tvandlust  3 роки тому +3

      It feels like the bad rap kind of came out of nowhere, didn’t it? I always thought people like the N64, but I guess opinions change! I love it myself.

      @@tvandlust totally agree. Probably because the visuals have aged poorly compared to the 2D sprites on consoles like NES and SNES. I find early 3D games charming but hey that’s just me. Thx for the content! Been watching for so many years now.

    Good timing on this video mate as I just piced up a N64 last week, so great to see these games.
    I picked it uup with an Everdrive so can play any game. (as retro collecting is far too expensive now!)
    I used to love N64 but hated on it over the years as they look horrible. But giving it some time this week they still play pretty well to be fair. Although I've lost my nack with Banjo and keep dying lol.

    • @tvandlust
      @tvandlust  3 роки тому +2

      Everdrives can be such a godsend. And it is true, this era has not aged very well, especially the low-poly N64. I can’t help it though, I still love it!

    very nice. N64 always feel so pleasant to return to. really was the start of me following what games were coming out, primarily through magazines. I guess it's when I fell into the "hype machine" (yuck, lol). like you said, massive impact.
    there's only two or three games I'd like to be satisfied with my collection, I think. I'd like to have F-Zero X boxed (got it loose) because that's up there with the all-time favorites, for me.
    the big one is Mystical Ninja. that game is in my DNA, but a buddy had it, not me. should have bought it earlier this year when it was $40-60, now it's pushing $100. oh welllllll
