Glowing Sunset, Heavy Rain, and Rolling Thunder on Nakasendo | Magome-juku, Japan 4K Walk

- Magome-juku is a small post town on the Nakasendo, an Edo period walking highway connecting Kyoto and Tokyo, with a number of these small post towns along the way offering road-weary travelers room, board, and entertainment. I arrived just before sunset with a plan to walk the historic road lined with traditional buildings and water flowing through canals. I also thought it would be a good idea to check in on the adjacent rice fields in their summer glory. As I did, I noticed a beautiful glow in the sky, and some impressive dark clouds in the near-distance. Moments later the sky opened up and a heavy rain began to fall, cascading off the buildings, flowing down the walking path, and into the canals on either side. Walking up through the village lightning flashed and thunder rumbled as the rain became intense at times. I hope you enjoy the walk and the atmosphere of this beautiful post town in the natural elements.

The old town is so picturesque. When there’s still daylight, exploring it is more enjoyable thanks to visibility. I like the old architecture and the long cobblestone path. When it’s rainy and dark, the path and house fronts are only lit by lanterns and light coming through windows. The town’s atmosphere makes me think of a movie set, and that thought makes me smile. Thank you for the video.
The cobblestone path used to go all the way to Tokyo, I can only imagine what it would have been like to stop here for the night while making the long journey on foot. In the darkness and rain it certainly is a moody place : )
@@ambient_exploration Always an amazing choice of location for your walks. Much appreciated.
@@ambient_exploration…all the way to Tokyo? Wow! Interesting to know.

A man like a hero under heavy rain in dark... I like this video!
めっちゃ綺麗な動画だと思います!行ったことないんですが、この動画でめっちゃ行ってみたくなってきました
ありがとうございます、チャンスあれば絶対行った方が良いと思います!妻籠宿も綺麗です。
Such a beautiful country, I bless Japan's very existence. How sadder and even more boring the world would have been without Japan.
You find places with good feelings. I wish it was HDR, though.
Thank you, and yes my camera was at it's very limit here. I'll be upgrading soon though so hopefully the footage can match the feelings.
@@ambient_exploration i love your videography, gear is the only limitation i can see other wise everything is perfect, will wait till you upgrade

I invite you to my space, too!😍😍😍
What is the creature between 47:27 and 47:45? Beautiful video as always!
Thank you! I was wondering about that little guy as well. First I thought he was a cat, but the movements looked different, almost like a puppy. It was so dark there I could see even less than the camera captured. So I don't know...your guess is as good as mine.
美しい。
撮り方もうまい。
あいがとうございます:)
Nakatsugawa, Japan.
53:50 would make an excellent image
I thought the same so I stopped to take a few shots moments later:

Why are streets so empty? Where are locals, tourists?
This part of the Nakasendo is popular with tourists, but more so during the day. It seems like most shops closed around 4 or 5 and so most people left as well. I did see one restaurant that was full of tourists, and a few other smaller places with people inside. There were also some people walking out and about, even when the rain came, but not as busy as during the day to be sure.
@@ambient_explorationI particularly like that there aren’t many people in the video
