‘The hole’ on the top right corner is just a fenestration that hasn’t gone all the way yet, so the leaf didn’t split completely. It takes a couple of years before you get the true holes in the leaf, and they will always appear close to the stem. Beautiful plant nonetheless!
@@NaturallyNavi Hey Jez, thanks for your comment. You are absolutely right, thanks for sharing this. I thought it's the real hole and learnt later that the real holes are yet to come. Recently I have bought a huge monstera, and it already had split leaves and holes too. I will post the new video soon. :)
Yeah, it's too big. We'll see how it grows. I don't make the whole soil completely wet. If it doesn't feel good, I may repot it again :). How big is yours and how big is your pot?
Anna's Violets 😊🌱 the ones from last year, i dont have, i was beginner and did many experiments. Now i have, put 2 monstera together, the one you have, times 2, In A pot, smaller than half, of the one, you have, and with A tall, pole. ❤️
@@Plantehygge Yeah, my pot is quite big. From that tiny pot into the big pot was not the best, as I mentioned in the video, but I really want a big monstera in that big pot :-D hopefully, it will make it. Will be posting updates :)
After a year, I repotted it into a smaller pot and then swapped it for another plant, as I have already 4 monsteras :) Have you seen my huge one? It takes half of the room. That one I repotted and used sticks for support, but not a moss pole any more: ua-cam.com/video/0ZloR8uDH4Y/v-deo.html
Hi, Melissa. Sorry, there is no update video for this plant, as I have repotted it into a smaller pot. It was growing very slow in that big pot and there was a risk of root rot. As I mentioned in my video, you should repot into a slightly bigger pot step by step. In my case, the transition was very big, so repotted it back into a smaller pot. If you would like to see my big monstera, repotting with sticks, here it is: ua-cam.com/video/0ZloR8uDH4Y/v-deo.html
Hi! I have a monstera that I need to repot. Do you have any tips on what type of soil and fertilizer to use? I have done a bunch of research and it seems like many brands also come with tons of bugs which I’m trying to avoid. Thank you!
I have used universal potting mix and added some perlite. You don't really need to fertilize it for a month or two after repotting. Afterwards, you can use any fertilizer for dracenas, ficuses that you can find in your area
ok, so I got my first monstera a couple of months ago and it already seems to be needing a pole. thanks for the video, I will repot it tomorrow morning and we'll see how that goes. I'm from Costa Rica and I live in Finland. so, both the monstera and myself are completely out of our environment, ha! wish us luck!
Oh, yes tropical plants will have hard times in Finland, due to short period of sunlight. But they may still grow pretty well. I wish your monstera and you good luck. I would love to hear about its progress 🌸
@@AnnasViolets I repotted it today, it went well. I got one of those lamps for the autumn and set it on a timer for a couple of hours in the morning, hopefully that'd help. I'll keep u posted! ❤️
Are the leaves wilted? In this case maybe the roots are rotten. If not, if the leaves are fine, then I guess the pot is small and the plant leaves are too heavy. I have the second one, which is much bigger. I will post a separate video on the bigger one soon. That one is in a big clay pot and I used some bamboo sticks, rope to pull the plant together. If you don't use the support, they will not stand themselves. In nature they cling to trees and that's how they grow straight. 🌿 Does yours have holes in the leaves already?
@@AnnasViolets thank you so much for the reply!!!! When I got the plant it had one leaf with holes, but after that the two new leaf do not have holes. I will get some sticks and tie it for support. Your plants are beautiful
@@bashert.33 Thank you so much. If the other two leaves do not have holes, maybe the plant is still young. I guess that one hole is even not the right hole, but the fenestration, like splitting the leaves. In the beginning I also thought that mine has a hole already, but nooo, it's just the fenestration, which is pretty interesting too. My second monstera (video is to come) is pretty big with lots of real holes on the leaves. 🙂 🌿
Thanks for sharing your experience, Mamat. I water just a little, just to make sure the water reaches all roots, but I don't necessarily make the whole soil moist. It's doing well for now :) I'll keep updating on the progress 🌿
Yes please post an update because I also repotted my monstera in a bigger pot. Just to me me feel less worried I want to know if your plant is enjoying your big pot. New subscriber here.❤️
Thank you for your comment. I am always taping update videos. Come back to my channel in February. 😊If you water it in a proper way, knowing the amount of roots, soil mixture, pot size and other conditions, nothing will happen. You can of course, take a smaller pot. It's your decision.
@@leeduncan5241 I know, from my side as well, as you are absolutely right. I even mention in the very beginning of the video that the pot I chose is quite big and I recommend others taking a much smaller pot. In my case I water it very carefully, not the whole soil is getting moist, but I water it just where the plant is. It may still grow just roots and less leaves, as the pot is big indeed. For now it's fine. If it doesn't grow fast, I may repot it into a smaller one and will show the progress on this channel anyway. I explained this in the very beginning of the video, so that it's not misleading.
