- Join me on a drive from the town of Cooma to the Thredbo and Perisher ski resorts in the Snowy Mountains of NSW! The 2022 snow season is off to a great start, with this video capturing some spectacular scenery of the Monaro plateau, Lake Jindabyne and Jindabyne Dam, the Kosciuszko National Park and of course some heavy snowfall!
I have never driven this route before, wow, it is indeed a beautiful scenery, the part with snow on side of the road reminded me of the times driving in Canada's highway.
Ah the memories. Early 80's and ski trips tp Perisher as a day trip. Thank you.
It must be funny to drive along here - "yeah, yellow grass, typical Australia" then SNOW?! What?
I've never seen snow so the gradual build up is so fascinating to me.
Nice video! The snow reminds me of back home in NZ.
As a Perth resident now, I've gotta say, it's weird seeing snow on the side of Aussie roads!
what a nice scenery drive! it’s cool to see that alpine way is used through the way from cooma to the destination. great drive mate
Beautiful view and nice music. Great combination!
winter wonderland!
There's always something really amazing about your videos. I can't put it into words! Enjoyed this a lot!
So cool seeing snow in Australia while cooking here in Europe! Cheers!
Cool to see all the snow at the end. I haven't been to the snowies for a few years so it's awesome to see 👍
This are one of the few best drive ever done by you mate! Really loves you on this one w/o doubts. 😘😘😘😘😘 Loves Hayliee (Brisbane)
I have been travelling around NSW I love it there
in 1968 the road past thredbo was a road you took your chances on as many trucks wide loads down dead horse gap to geehi
Driven this stretch many many times never a bore both great places to visit nice vid
Love it! One of the best scenic drives near the snowy mountains! Thank u so much for doing this 💓
also in the same year we drove up to mt kosciuszko now you can walk up to the top.that year in 1968 had a lot of snow in summer time
During episode 9 of season 6 of the American version of The Mole, the Snowy Mountains served as one of the challenge locations. It was during that episode that a fan-favorite competitor, Avori Henderson, would be removed from the game. Avori was a former beauty pageant contestant and model who later became a video game streamer.
Beautiful
I live in jinderbyne 😮
Must be awesome living in what is probably the most beautiful town in Australia!
Nice video mate, cheers 🥂😊
Nice drive! Snowy weather but always hard to find a park! Went here on a tour bus
I'm moving down that way from northern territory
My home , I miss you so much xx
i have been on that road in 1968 looks better now than now have seen new jindabyne only old town.
Great vid. Thank you so much. So this is August/September? Am I right? No chains needed?
Thanks, this video was filmed in July I believe. No chains needed as it was filmed in an all wheel drive vehicle (Nissan X-Trail).
Watching this to see what to expect when I go, looking to take a lowered Nissan Skyline race car there, Brisbane- Sydney and then snowy mountains
Thanks mate, enjoy! Just be careful if you're heading to the snow and your R32 is RWD 😉
@@GreatAussieDrives have you seen a lot of people bogged? And is it hard to brake?
Not really. I believe legally you'd be required to carry snow chains but I can't say I've seen anyone actually using them, on the main roads anyway
I'll never understand why we keep ourselves in a secure cabin with seat belts, but it's fine to keep Dogs on a tray external to the safe cabin where if you brake just a little too hard accidently they'll fly into the air and end up mince.
Having lived in Comms in the 1950s as a kid and more recently visited

Brought back memories of many ski trips in the 80s. Unfortunately have to mute the background noise.
Snow in Australia. I would have not expected this...
Nice trip but that music is just sad😅. My Dad worked on the Snowy Mountain Scheme....I was born in Cooma.
These are great videos. How do you get the road name and speed to show? Does your GPS do that automatically?
Thanks mate! These are added in during video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro (so nothing to do with the GPS/dashcam).
The film was unnecessarily sped up and music was added. Road films should be presented without any processing. It's good if you can hear noises from the road.
I was today years old till I knew it could snow in Australia
Snow is suuuper rare here. But it can happen! 😁
@@GreatAussieDrives It must not be that rare there are ski resorts. But I guess as a percentage of the country that gets snow it is rare AF.
@@GreatAussieDrives Also great footage ;)
Is Craigieburn to broadford coming
I'll see what I can do if I return to Victoria
Next drive can you go to north Qld
Great drive! How would compare Logan Motorway in Queensland to Maryland Route 200 TOLL (Intercounty Connector or ICC with open road tolling) in the US state of Maryland? Here's the video:

Thanks for the comment, Maryland 200 seems a fair bit straighter and wider than the Logan, which really could've done with some widening when I last visited Brissy last year.
