Great Aussie Drives
Australia
Приєднався 30 гру 2017
High quality timelapse videos of Australian roads, with a particular focus on my home state of New South Wales. Latest videos in 4K resolution. I have a passion for driving and sharing this country's incredible road network, from city streets to motorways to winding country roads. I hope you enjoy watching my videos as much as I do recording and editing them.

Join me as we continue down the Hume Freeway in Victoria! For part 2 we make our way from the town of Seymour in the Goulburn Valley down towards the Melbourne CBD. We'll be bypassing the towns of Broadford and Wallan along the way. After entering metropolitan Melbourne, we briefly use a bit of the M80 Ring Road, then the M2 Tullamarine Freeway/CityLink.

I have to say only small parts of that drive were spectacular. You want a nice drive go from Byron Bay to Midginbil NSW. Well worth it.
Wow... love your videos... very relaxing. A lot of diversity in this one.
No Great Apostles. Unimigagiable on a drive along the Great Ocean Road.
Such a beautiful basin wasted on all those politicians!🙄 Why the six-month lag between filming and posting? Is it a normal thing?
I generally only have time to edit and upload one video a month and to mix things up the videos' filming order doesn't necessarily correspond to editing order. I make sure all footage I upload is less than a year old, though!
Never been down this way in summer. Looks much nicer, pretty gloomy and brown in winter.
The area around the Snowy Mountains is surprisingly underrated in summer!
Just want to say that guy in the grey Nissan Pathfinder at 2:00 is a shit driver. Empty left lane but moves the right brake checks you then when you move left he speeds up cuts you off to exit off the highway.
Excellent song choices by the way!
Wow😂
Nice! The first 7 minutes particularly familiar as for several years I worked in Civic and commuted from Theodore. And many years before that madcap Friday night runs to the snowfields! Agree with you about the scenery, especially the mountains out of shot in the West.
We rode through there in 88 for the Bicentennial Bike ride and some local was trying to explain how Monaro is Aboriginal for a plain or something when from the back an Italian called Tony Farciano piped up and and said no its Italian for fast car.
One of my personal symbols of home is the poplar trees that early settlers planted in the region around Canberra. They are becoming less obvious on the Barton and Federal highways as they keep being upgraded but there are still plenty along the Monaro. There is a huge stand near Michelago.
Used to do the Sydney - Gippsland round trip a few times a year and drove this road a fair bit... 25 years ago now, damn OK now I feel old! I miss it. Such beautiful countryside.
Great drive! Are you aware that Transurban operates the 495 and 95 Express Toll Lanes in the US state of Virginia?
Didn't know that tbh, though I did know they had some assets outside of Australia. Interesting
That grass on Northbourne av looks so fugly, let's just hope the trees will eventually look as majestic as they did before the light-rail
The scenery south of canberra is beautiful
The 2000s songs bring me back to when I played Burnout Paradise and just cruised around the city
canberra only three hour drive from Me
Great video mate! I remember travelling alot on this road when I was little, definitely one of the most scenic roads in NSW! Although it does get quite congested at times, even in the summer. I hope it will get upgraded to dual carriageway someday in the future…
Will you be going towards Bombala/Victoria on the Monaro or Bega on the Snowy Mountain for Park 2?
Both Bombala and Bega will feature in Part 2 😁
@@GreatAussieDrives Looking forward to it!
I guess experience plays a large factor here. As a L plater who decided to give this route a shot at night, especially after after the various winding roads leading up the Peats Ridge Road. Scenery would be a lot better during the day I suppose, late at night on these near empty roads was a nightmare 😅
Thank you so much for putting this up , gave lots of confidence to make the trip .
I thought when you said it was a 5 lane each way freeway that it would stay like that. It went to 3 lanes pretty quick 😅
Maate! You didn't mention the Pole House at 20:07. :) The first thing my family would look for on a drive to the 12 Apostles.
I went on a roadtrip to Melbourne earlier this year and we checked out pakenham as my mum grew up there in the 80s and hasn’t been back since
Great memories...was driving this road after getting license in 64. Always loved the bendy Hawkesbury section. Surface was concrete and largely single lane. Tht was prior to the Calga Freeway section and then the F3. Would become very choked on Sundays with few double lanes, Thanks for posting.
Such a good drive now not having to go through Maclean and Woodburn. Those places had the worst local traffic.
Jack and the m1
Great video. I've done this road many times between Sydney and SE Qld. It's good for some variation compared with doing the full New England highway. Just be careful not to fry your brakes heading from Nowendoc turnoff down to Gloucester. And some of the turns are blind and they are pretty tight too.
why australia has so little motorways? for example why did M4 end straight at Penrith? Why not extend it to Orange? or M15? At least Victoria is doing something to expand its motorway network...
I think its because just how concentrated Australia's population is in its major cities, the only three cities linked mostly by "motorway" are Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra (even then its mostly just limited access dual carriageway)
I'm surprised Melbourne have this amazing wide backbone stretch of freeway.
i have now watched a lot of your trips, which I too have done, so very special memory... The GOR - Great Ocean Road was fantastic... I nearly got car sick!!... I love that trip and do it regularly,,, but of course not at the speed!!! eheheh love your work.. I would love to know the elevation of the places you go through too...
I was wondering if I'd see the huge old Oak Milk Bar on this drive, but I doubt it's still around. I think it was up in Peats Ridge anyway but I can't recall, I was too young.
Wish you would have a playlist on this channel
Im courios do you drive Auto or Manual?
Automatic only 😅
@GreatAussieDrives fair, honestly. For me, I love the whole driving experience, including shifting gears and clutch control. But you do do a lot of city driving, and if I did, I would probably just use an auto.
Goat track 😢
Watch for potholes! Pothole highway!
great music track. I went on this trip a 100 times in my truck
there should NOT be traffic lights in a FREEWAY!!
25:11 Went on a bus lane illegally, everyone does that😂
Is that an Xtrail you’re driving ?
Indeed it is. You've got a keen eye for detail 👏
@@GreatAussieDrives Thanks. I could tell by the shape of the bonnet, little humps in the light cluster lenses. And the washer jets . I’m not sure if my eye for detail is a blessing or a curse. Anyway, I enjoyed the video. I lived in Nyngan for a couple of years….1998-2000 and have done that road many times. Late at night the Roos are horrendous.
6 to 5 on Monash freeway😮
3 on the Princes freeway
19:41 days
3 on m1

Classic police move parking at an area where the speed limit abruptly drops from 110 to 60
We go this way from Sydney to Noosa twice a year stopping at Tenterfield or Warwick along the way. There is hardly any Traffic and we much prefer it to the Pacific Highway.
The upgrade happened decades later than it should have but it's now spectacular. The only three things I love to see between Coffs and Tweed: 1) Improve the road from the highway to Yamba 2) Better access to Grafton this town kind of got shafted to virtual inland status (I love inland towns) 3) The Ballina exit (Prawn side) is a bottleneck due to the Service Centre and the link from Ballina to Lismore (same issue with the Port Macquarie/Wauchope exit with the Service Centre & the link between the two towns)
Well Grafton has the B91 River Way (Glenugie to South Grafton) & B76 (South Grafton - M1 Pacific Motorway) There has been safety improvements on the road (dividing fence, wider lanes) But the quality of the road is awful, lots of new tarmac on top of the pot holes and some old road (THAT IS HARDER THAN A TACO) The line marking is starting to get dull. Some bridges are starting to show their age (Glenugie Creek Bridge & Bom Bom Creek bridges) Wish they added exits and entries to Eight mile lane
at 5:00 you drove past my old farm
I said oh my, what a marvelous tune!
✨
mate when are more sydney vids coming?
Current plan is for the next 2 vids to be regional NSW, then Sydney 😁
Thanks for sharing somewhere I've never seen before. What a pathetic excuse for a "M" standard freeway though! 😆
