I was born in Bendigo, and nearly 58 years later, I'm still here. I've travelled that road plenty over the years.

Great video! In my opinion, the Calder Freeway is the nicest rural freeway drive in Victoria; the road quality is generally very good and the scenery is also pleasant with the rolling hills and views of Mount Macedon, which are great in both directions! On a clear day, you also get a fantastic view of Melbourne and its skyline at 22:17 off to the left

Thanks for the continued support! I drove the Calder, Western, and Hume rural freeways during my time in Victoria and the Calder was also probably my favourite 😁

Melbourne metros reminds me of a nostalgic childhood game Dumb Ways To Die fun fact, it was originally made as a safety PSA to be safe around trains, surprising to see how far it has come 🙂

@ 3:12. On the left the black/white building is my and my partner’s favorite drive through coffee shop. Enter one side, Loop round the back and the windows is on the opposite side. Good coffee. And they give a treat for your dog as well.

if you get the chance, do drive the SE Freeway in SA between Adelaide and Murray Bridge. Very hilly and scenic for the most part, and Mt Lofty along the way is a great photo spot.

Some other facts you didn't add
    - The Kelor Bypass also has no shoulder due to bodgy widening works in its tight area and has its speed reduced
    - The junction between the Calder Freeway and Tullamarine Freeway was duplicated just a few years after the CityLink opened over traffic weaving fears. It was duplicated even further when the CityLink was widened, and now you have to exit the Tullamarine Freeway very early to go to Bell Street.
    - The junction between CityLink and West Gate Freeway was duplicated in the 2010s to add extra local ramps to the city
    - Route 55 is the old Hume Highway and is fittingly the 31st route in Melbourne in the city's S-N-E-W numbering order. There appears to be plans to reroute the Princes Highway its full length to Essondon as part of to-be-announced phasing out of the shield system. Also CityLink is still signed SR43 with the Princes Highway NH8 for some reason.

Great drive! How would you compare Ceder Freeway (M79) that you just did to Yamuna Expressway in India from Greater Noida to Agra? Here's the video:

@@GreatAussieDrives yea I think not very popular if not even ignored. I live up that way and it would be hard to describe it as a valley (wel
I mean it sort of is but living there it wouldn’t be noticed to the extent I’m betting most don’t even know). There is more of a valley that can be definitely seen and felt between Harcourt (Castlemaine) and Malmsbury on the Freeway specially as the part near Harcourt actually is built into on side of the hills that form one side of the valley

Victoria adopted alphanumeric routes in the late '90s (I believe 1998) whereas NSW started labelling routes in 2013 and beyond. This has also puzzled me as these 'C' routes are very inconsistent with road quality and they appear in other states such as Tasmania and SA
