    Hey Mr. Mountain Man. Great video as always. You make them look so professional. Seems like a really nice town to visit if you're in the area. Certainly a lot there for a small place. Very pretty there in the mountains and that river is beautiful. Nice of you to put the link and advertise for the business. Very nice touch. Hope you and family are doing very well!! Mountains sure are different there than out here.

    Hello MMM, What an adorable little town. I was surprised to see how much this little town offers. It looks like the stores have pretty much anything you need. I was checking out the menus on the restaurants they have, they look good and the prices are not bad. I like how they have benches for you to sit down on out side the stores, that's nice. Ninety degrees would make you want to sit in that stream. That hardware store was packed, I figured you would find something you needed. This little town seems to have it all right down to a library and a visitor center. Very nice video ,very well done.

    • @MrMountainMan
      @MrMountainMan  2 роки тому +1

      Yes it sure did have everything! The library which I did not record was charming and had a kids area which was nice. It was a hot day, but thankfully it was sunny and showed this cool town well. Thanks for the positive feedback, and thanks for watching Rita!

    GREAT video MMM! As always I appreciate the map at the beginning and in the middle or so as well.
    Did you see any thru hikers while you were there? What a beautiful little town and surrounding area! The doors on the Library were real pretty and I figured you would find something you needed in that hardware store, after you got finished taking in the smell 😂 it’s funny too but I know what you mean about the smell of a good hardware store. As you stated Welcome Centers are a wealth of information. Thank you MMM for taking us to this mountain town by the river! Be safe out there!

      Yes the maps always help get bearings on the location! I didn't see any hikers while we were walking through town but I'm sure it does happen often. The library even though I didn't film was a nice stop the kids enjoyed. Thanks for watching AZ and glad you enjoyed it!

    Lovely drive to a quaint little NC town, where you go take a dip in in the hot springs spa, then go get a French Dip at the local restaurant, then go dip your toes in the French Broad River 😁 The town may be small, but appears cultured 🤔 Thanks for sharing this wonderful mountain find 🐾🦊🐺

      Haha I love all the opportunities to 'dip' into fun in Hot Springs! It would have been cool (literally) to check out either Spring Creek or The French Broad River as it was hot that day. Thanks for checking it out Foxy!

    One of the areas best kept secrets :) It is a very nice out of the way place to visit and or spend some time. I love the history of this area. The Native Americans used this place extensively, over on the French Broad River a few miles away is a landmark known as Paint Rock, There are paintings on the cliffs dating back 5000 years! Sadly, much of it has been vandalized with modern graffiti. The only place we have eaten was at the Iron Horse, quite pricey and a limited menu, but it was filling. Good job on your video.

      This is a quintessential small mountain town, and a great place for the folks that like a quiet, outdoor location. That's super sad about the historic drawings, maybe the city or county can try to preserve what's remaining. Thank you again for the detailed information and positive comments!

    Sir, I am arriving mid OCT., my question to you... If I can only stay a few days, should I stay in a rural Hot springs cabin, or should I stay near Boone/Blowing Rock? Never been back there, and I gotta see the Blue Ridge. Thx

    • @MrMountainMan
      @MrMountainMan  2 роки тому

      Oh wow that's a tough question! Overall Boone/Blowing Rock have more shops, stores, and a larger area (Appalachian State is in Boone). Hot Springs is smaller and quaint and more about the outdoors. So hopefully that helps you, and have a great trip!

      Hi Paula, I've visited Hot Springs many times. The spa does massage and mani/pedis although I've never done those, but they also rent spas by the hour. They are spread along the creek and river and are private with privacy fencing between spas and they are just regular hot tubs, but the natural hot spring water is fed up and used to fill them. They drain and clean them between each rental. They are very private and they allow you to take in food, drinks, small bluetooth speakers, etc... I think they run about $50-85/hr depending on the size of tub you get and the time of day... later in the day/evening is most expensive. I love getting them in the early evening before the sun goes down as a sort of late happy hour before dinner, but they'd be great any time of day. There is not a lot of night life but 3-4 restaurants from breakfast diner to comfortable nicer dining (Iron Horse). The campground has everything from tent sites, to RVs to basic and more deluxe fully furnished cabins. There are also rooms for rent in town and all around.

    Great video! We went a couple of years ago. We stayed in a cabin that wasn't too far but at an elevation of 4300. We went there for the day and we were surprised by the large elevation difference on a fairly non inclined road.
