This is a fucking revelation. And his face when he drops into that single-kick + hi-hat groove is so accurate to how it feels to play something like that as a drummer. Beautiful.
This is one of VOLA's softer tracks. They're very much a blend of subtle Meshuggah influence, with Karnivool elements thrown in there. They do some seriously sick syncopated stuff while maintaining that listenability that non-musicians can appreciate. Definitely dig into their discography. They're amazing all round.
This groove is so sick bro, it was just something Adam was working on and VOLA made it into a song. I think it's VOLA like Voe-luh. Great band, check out their album Inmazes (before their current drummer joined)
Their melodies are happy and melancholic at the same time. That’s why I love them. Maybe it’s the same reason why you like them. They provide a certain amount of happiness and contentment and cover it in complexity and art. That’s why we love this.
So glad I found this channel, dream come true for all drummers/ musicians! Just purchased Vola awesome new find thanks to you sir. Peace from Detroit MI.
I love that you love Vola! Please do another one! They can go heavy as a brick, but still hit you in the in the feels. And Adam is all sorts of amazing as a dummer. ❤️👌
I've never seen you mention your love for something you just heard, so much. I can relate because my first time 6 years ago was similar, and then this song blew my socks off as well.
Pretty rad that VOLA got in touch Craig’ just remember that you are pretty rad aswell and that all of us drum obsessed stick eaters think the world of u’ hope the back is all good bro and that u are back behind the kit’ take care’ and big love from New Zealand 🤘🥁🤘
The Sleep Token comment had me ROLLING holy hell. I think popularity and international airplay of WITNESS has been really big finally, 100% deserved by VOLA. Top lads.
Though the Leprous vocals are pretty intense, I can dig it. At least Einar's tone is his speaking voice. Sleep Token vocals contain every trendy alt/pop affectation. All the vowels...and this is coming from an Australian who uses most of them while saying "no" Enormously oversung. The bloke needs a producer or bandmate to reel him in. VOLA are tremendous.
This was very cool. Two very different vibes when compared to Sleep Token though. However, the drummer for Sleep Token seems to be an anomaly himself. I wish there were actual videos of the mystery drummer playing. But sadly there are only covers of their songs.
Comparing this guy's voice to Sleep Token's, I reckon you probably prefer it for the same reason I do: it's less of an affectation. That's just naturally how the Vola guy sounds. Danish accent makes it a little exotic, but other than that it's pretty organic. The Sleep Token guy is putting on all sorts of X-Factor bullshit. Just sounds like any other pop garbage to mine ears.
Sleap Token only lives by the Vocals in front. The drummer is dope but not in a way that serves the music that much. Vola is a wall of sound with such a wide range from low, hellish elements to cherish melodys. And everything seems more as a unit
I think sleep token is over hyped and it comes off really pretentious. The music isn't bad and I'm sure the people who like them like them as much as they say they do. I just think it's abit of an eye catcher when you look at their aesthetic and costume and then people think the music is good because it is good but they wouldn't like it as much as they do if they heard a band in shirts jeans and nikes playing it. just sayinnn
I discovered Sleep Token with their song Thread the Needle and got hooked by how different it sounded from other prog bands . I saw their look long after i heard a couple other songs, so i dont think it has anything to do with why most people love em tbh. I gotta admit their knew stuff seems less and less unique since they dont stray very far from their original sound, i love Alkaline tho
Thanks for giving our music a shot, really glad you enjoyed it so much! 💙 And yes, that is indeed a Pearl Virgil Donati signature snare! Good eye 😇
Dudes, I discovered your band yesterday because of a playthrough from this fabulous drummer, I'm in love.
@@vetlerradio Very happy to hear that:) Thank you for listening!
@@volaband you guys are easily one of the coolest bands I've found in years
I discovered you from this reaction and the chorus just gave me fucking full body-goosebumps.
@@youreaphagatron 100 agree with that! 👌
"Do you think this band are not as big as Sleep Token simply because they don't wear capes?"
Yes.
I mean, ya. And on top of that, sleep tokens marketing is just on point
@@DLCoker666 yep, that's true!
Dunno, Sleep Token has those weird-modern-pop-whispery vocals, I think that's also part of the appeal. I very much prefer modern prog like Vola though
@@DLCoker666 by marketing you mean talented as a mother fucker then yes, they have great marketing
The band is great and Adam plays with so much feel & attitude!
The capes comment along with the granddad comment have me rolling.
The emotion in his drumming is top notch!
This is actually so good. Gonna dig into this band more
Oh look it’s mike
Can't believe how underappreciated the "look at his little face" bit was. You're a funny dude, Craig. My grandpa wishes he could groove this hard.
So glad VOLA is getting some international love, especially from you Craigy! 😍
This dude has a great drumface.
Reminds me of Alex Bent in this playthrough 😁 -> ua-cam.com/video/nUYwI9V0wMw/v-deo.html

You should check out Ruby Pool from their previous album - Adam (the drummer) plays a sick figure/ostinat on the cymbals
6:35 I ask myself this every day with VOLA.
Craig def needs to check out the song Smartfriend by VOLA. I believe there’s a drum play-through for that one as well.
Adam is one of the most creative drummers out there. So good and welcome to getting your mind blown by his ideas.
LOVE Vola! They have some seriously heavy tracks as well but check out their tune Ruby Pool if ya want some more of this clitty-tickling drumming 👌
One of their best songs
This is one of VOLA's softer tracks. They're very much a blend of subtle Meshuggah influence, with Karnivool elements thrown in there. They do some seriously sick syncopated stuff while maintaining that listenability that non-musicians can appreciate.
Definitely dig into their discography. They're amazing all round.
you couldn´t explain it better👍
Damn you nailed it
Honestly for me it's Meshuggah meets Take That 😂
This groove is so sick bro, it was just something Adam was working on and VOLA made it into a song.

Vola is like Mew + Meshuggah. Amazing band
looks like shia labeouf has found a new hobby
Naw, that would mean he was talented
Their melodies are happy and melancholic at the same time. That’s why I love them. Maybe it’s the same reason why you like them.

These guys seem to be working on a different level of ambience.

Oh snap excited to see you checking them out. Love this band so much
This was actually the first react I turned off to go watch the original first. Absolutely incredible.
Head Mounted Sideways and These Black Claws is amazing by them
“Vocals be treacle-y” got me spitting out my tea
VOLA is good, love how Craig doesn’t understand why he likes it.
I've never seen you mention your love for something you just heard, so much. I can relate because my first time 6 years ago was similar, and then this song blew my socks off as well.
Witness is AOTY. Such a joy to listen to these guys. Check out their older stuff too but this is their best stuff to date. Cheers.
thank you for posting this cuz holy fuck this was awesome.

I feel you. Usually I'm not into this sort of thing, but this band sounds amazing
I was fortunate to see VOLA and Sleep Token in the same week at Euroblast a few years back. Both killed it!
I've been hoping for you to discover these guys for a while and youre reaction is everything i hoped for
VOLA has been underrated since "Inmazes" came out. Definitely a "your favorite musicians favorite band" kind of band. And they sound great live.
Vola is the kind of band that makes you cry from happiness and can give you the stank face in the same song.
The treacle description sums up how I feel about Leprous. Digging this though!
Mad props on the contortionist shout out
Crazy how this bit reminded me of them too. Exoplanet melodic phases vibe.
He do have that grandpa listening/not listening face though. Such a sick playthrough, those grooves are insane.
Wow !! Thx for the discovering !
That drumface is pure confidence
Though the Leprous vocals are pretty intense, I can dig it.
At least Einar's tone is his speaking voice.

Couldnt agree more, still absolutely love Sleep Token and Leprous. but yea the affectations are pretty persistent
Ey is that swedish guy! Adam janzi, Check out his covers of meshugga etc. Really groovy
Speaking of masked drummers, can you check out Mgla - Exercises in Futility V live?
This band fucks so hard. Great vocals, smooth Melodies, cool as shit drums and tasty samples. What’s not to love?
so solid
Bro.. great description with Karnivool-Leprous! And I'm the same with Leprous, great band. To much syrup sometimes
one of my fav albums of the year
Can you just be a Vola reaction channel from now on? This was great, thanks!

Can we get a whole video on IBS, please?
Haha 00:42 I’m in a convention center in Chicago for work doing exactly this.
"i be shittin"
Thank you for introducing me to a fucking amazing band.
Omfg yes vola are the GOAT
React to Karnivool ‘The Refusal drum cam.
It’s because this band absolutely knows exactly what they sound like
Thanks for giving me this awesome new band(to me at least) 😁😁
If ya get the chance to talk to them, you'll find out they are really accessible and super cool
Cross between Alex Bent and Shia Labeouf
Holy shit.. he look's just like a "insert ethnicity here" version of Trivium's drummer Alex Bent
'The more people tell me to watch something, the less I will watch it.' - That's IBS.
Reminds me of Plini.
This guy's drum set up reminds me of an old friend of mine but with more cymbals.
Hmu with the IBS gummies link boi
I love Craig and Vola this is so cool 😍😍
Well now you're definitely a perfect fit. From now on whenever I look at you, Craig, I will think of IBS.

Because they’re far better than Sleep Token. 😆
Sleep token sounds like: djent band/American idol but Ghost

Plus they’re heavy as fuck
VOLA fanbase is like family
VOLA > Sleep token every day!

what's the band called? Activate Windows?
This guy looks like Alex Bent with a Beard
Mewshuggah
Anyone else see Shia LaBeouf?
You don't like sleep token???
But their drummer is a one way ticket to flavortown
Dude Looks like Shai Labeouf peaking on some E and its his first time ever playing drums and is impressed with himself lol sick band
