Appreciate the advice. I have learned to do that and now I do that every chance I get. Wherever I can fit a design, I'll fit it!. Sometimes the screen will be way off to one side, but as long as it's doable, you can save time and money. Thx.
I agree with how difficult this process is! My dad and bros had to have the screen printing business in 90's and every single step used to be done manually and was very time consuming. I have seen them struggling if any single step used to go wrong. Technology has modernize screen printing in much much better way these days.
Good video, the only thing I would change is the leaving ink in the image when pulling screen up can leave streaks in the ink on the shirt. With a very tight detailed design that could make the image smudge. Doing a video on off contact is a great idea.
The best and clear video for screen printing I ever seen even without speaking. Thanks for the video. Is it necessary to apply the orange substance on both side of the screen?
Epson is the highly recommended printer and you can search film output systems on Ryonet's website. I happen to have an HP Photosmart which actually has settings in the print set up/preferences menu that I use, such as ink volume to lay down (heavy) and crop marks, center marks, a few different transparency choices, etc. As for the transparency paper I use, I've been just using 8.5x14 Rite Film Waterproof Film from Ryonet (same site as above).
Thank you so much for this video. This is one of the best video's that I've seen here on UA-cam. I do a screen printing course and tomorrow it's our last class 😟 This is just like school: doing your homework, with this it will stay better in my brain 😬 Btw nice beats 🎼 gets you in the mood for screenprinting. Now off we go to screenprinting practise 😀Blessings and keep up the good work.
Can you please tell me what that red/pink emulsion was you initially put on your screen before burning the image on to it? Also is that just a standard light table you used to put the image on? This video is truely awesome. Thanks for making it.
Yes. I have found that out the hard way and have had ink harden a little inside the image that was tough to clear out. I've learned so much more since this video. Thanks for the input.
What is the gradient line on the right side of the screen and what do you use it for? Also, how fare is the light from the screen and for how long you leave the light on? Thanks.
i have a cheap printer and i dont think it will print on clear paper to put on the emulsion if i print it on normal white printer paper will it still work im thinking of getting into the business but im not sure if its something i can do please help
And for designs wider than 8 inches, I'll print them in two parts and tape them together. If you can afford it, you can get a nice Epson that accepts a much wider film and even get your film in rolls.
I would thin the black ink with reducer if I were you. Helps with curing and has a more natural feel to the shirt. (Production Manager +Carolina Screen Printers)
That glass blows when exposing... casts a shadow on the screen which acts like a negative, so you get that border you see. If you don't mind wasting a positive, a bit of pallet spray adhesive on the positive will make it stick to the screen without the use of a glass. A little old school trick ;)
Nice man. Although, in order to be really "start to finish" you should've included the cleanup and reclaiming process, lol. Overall, a well done video. I believe most people have no clue what the process is really like. They just think "slap some ink down, how hard can that be?". This gives a pretty decent visual.
It's ProChem DPX Pink dual cure diazo emulsion I bought from Ryonet and the light is just the Halogen over-head exposure unit with a sheet of glass that came with a kit I bought from them. They sell the light by itself also. Glad you liked the video.
I need some clarification on what kind of paper my artwork would be on to be transferred over to the shirt. Do I need to print it? Normal printing paper? If so do I just draw it on a normal piece of paper, take a picture and have it printed? Thanks for any help
for the image to burn through the screen, use a transparancy paper, paint on the side that sticks when you lick the corner. always use black ink, where the light can come through is where it will harden. or if youre printing, again transparancy paper, and you gotta use a good printer. take a pic of your art work and put it on the computer and use a illustrator to trace your image. make sure you make it one layer for the printer to actually read it.
Karlee Kordsmeier Actually coating one side with a thick layer that goes through the mesh is all you need. So it sounds like you are doing it correctly already! I will be posting videos on my channel soon on how to screen print more efficiently
im totally beginner here.. what kind of screen did you use to print the subject?can you help me with this.. I want to try to print but i dont know how can i burn the image
Not at all. Sometimes little particles of emulsion you spray out fly around and stick to the walls or tub, but just spray or wipe them off soon and you're good to go. Also, before reclaiming screens, make sure to wipe all ink off the entire screen. I use "Screen Wash" from Ryonet. Get a gallon or two and a spray bottle. Also known as "Press Wash" because you can use it to safely clean your press.
hello sir would you please tell me that , generally we find a printed t shirt in the market but in that t shirt which colors are used for t shirt printing. like plasticsol water based, which brand color
you can use any color, in the specific shirt he printed it i think was plastisol hifi black ink www.screenprinting.com/ic-700-series-black-plastisol-ink-gallon
I've have owned a screen print shop for 30 years, and I laughed when I watched this video, and was amused when scanning through the comments section... I started screen printing when you had to know how to use an "X-acto knife", and you knew the value of a roll of knife cut film... sitting at a light table for hours, knife cutting the 4 color print by hand...back then you had to be an artist "first" to be a screen printer... If you want to know how to do all the steps properly, you should watch as many videos as you can... Some videos will give the impression that all this is easy... it's not... When your first starting out, screen printing is "Problem Solving"... every job will have a different issue to overcome... art issues, screen issues, ink issues, ink curing issues, and even garment issues... some jobs will have no issues, and that's when you're "gettin' good"... good luck, from the "Flinch"... John in Clearwater.
It rigth I just started doing this with home made items and I started thinking how hard was it back in the beginning of this art! And ur right it is hard !
The background music really set the mood lol. I feel so relaxed watching this video.
oddly, this might be the most informative video I've seen on this subject so far. Nice job!
Jon Harmon oddly is right cause I still don’t understand.
informative but not for begginers
Well done we work the same job will add me please I added you👍👍
Appreciate the advice. I have learned to do that and now I do that every chance I get. Wherever I can fit a design, I'll fit it!. Sometimes the screen will be way off to one side, but as long as it's doable, you can save time and money. Thx.
Song is "Who's Theme" by Nujabes feat Minmi from Samurai Champloo soundtrack.
It’s not a song.
somehow the videos so satisfying and calming
That was a fkn SICK video!! Everything was on point. From begining to end!! Loved it. The music too....Great Choice!
Keep rocking it!
Damn That Is A Fire Beat. Kept my attention.
Great video! Gives me a better perspective and respect for screen printing.
looks awesome I wish I had this teacher. It's so clean!
Great Vid, berry simple and wicked tunes n the background. Thumbs up y’all 🤩

Yes. Ryonet does a GREAT job with their explanations.
excelente video donde se observa todo el proceso de la serigrafía desde el comienzo hasta el final. Gracias Dave.
The delicacy with which you are working is really admire able..
The best and clear video for screen printing I ever seen even without speaking. Thanks for the video.
Is it necessary to apply the orange substance on both side of the screen?
yes it is

Good video and music. Not an easy combination to come by.

Awesome video. an artist in all things design
Nice job Dave!

Very cool vid. wish there was an explanation too. Looks like you actually know what you are doing unlike many other tutorials on youtube.
well done on this vid, really like how you showed the process. Which kit is displayed here in the video?
great vídeo !!! How you do the register key to allways put the screen on top in the right position ?
Like the instrumental...Great video
Great video bro, love the music one of my favs from nujabes! Keep up the great work.
Can you reuse the screen for different designs or do you have to purchase different screens? Thanks for the video
Where do you get the clear sheets where you first print the design?
love the tune!!! awesome vid
why do u coat it twice with the emulsion?
What is the container of the coating material for screen? It's just a two step process, appreciated!
Yes. I have found that out the hard way and have had ink harden a little inside the image that was tough to clear out. I've learned so much more since this video. Thanks for the input.
What is the gradient line on the right side of the screen and what do you use it for?

good vid, good music, i could print to that all day
Great video Dave. What type of paper was it that you used 2 do the test print and where can I find it?
It’s so funny watching this because it has so much detail and each step is outlined but I have no idea how they’re doing it
Already liked this video from the start because of the music
thank you for the video. I learned this process in the early 80's by cutting the film with a hobby knife and burning it to the screen.
Thank you very much! You make it look so easy.
i have a cheap printer and i dont think it will print on clear paper to put on the emulsion if i print it on normal white printer paper will it still work im thinking of getting into the business but im not sure if its something i can do please help

How much should i save to buy all the tool needed ?
what is the difference between this and the speedball kit? if you want to start a business which one gives better results?
Speedball = home hobby kit, limited screen sizes and limited options.
I'd like to know how to dry/set the ink at the end if you don't have one of those heaters
Kazzasaur hand held blow dryer will work as well
Can u screen printing on glossy smooth Aluco board surface,?
Aluco board is polished aluminum metal?
Will the paint last ?
what kind of tape did you use to stick the transparency into the screen???
nice video, but i would use 1 screen for the back and front image, u can tape the small image when printing the back image. just my two cents
can i use any transparent paper? or there is specific term for that?
nice video. what kind of printer and printing ink do you use in making film?
how long was your 500w light on for ?
and was the uv glass on or off ?
I would thin the black ink with reducer if I were you. Helps with curing and has a more natural feel to the shirt. (Production Manager +Carolina Screen Printers)
to all who are wonder what the beat is, it is nujabes-who's theme
Hi have you ever tried using tyvek with this method please?

from where will these hesd peints be found

sooooo is the ink printed on the sticky side of the sheet or the smooth side? I cant find that info anywhere
What if I dont use glass sheet while its on the light box?
Thank you so much...love from Canada... And how long for the emulsion on the light
Thanks HP, make life easier..
but for how much mins he puts the screen with emulsion for drying and how much mins in light
Looks good!!! Well done :D
I've only ever coated one side of a screen with emulsion. What's the difference in doing both sides? Thanks
Karlee Kordsmeier
Actually coating one side with a thick layer that goes through the mesh is all you need. So it sounds like you are doing it correctly already! I will be posting videos on my channel soon on how to screen print more efficiently
what kind of paper do you you use for printing the image?
Brilliant! enjoyed that, good video work, interesting subject and music just right what's not to like? thumbs up 100% thanks.
Good video, I like the soundtrack too
david, what kind of light to burn image and for how long? thanks bro
Why did you go over the paint with the squeegee and then lowered the screen and did it again, why did you do it at different angles?
you have to flood the screen before you lower the screen onto the shirt. This loads the ink into the screen before you press it to the shirt.
Nice work keep it up
For all those wondering, the song is Who's Theme by Nujabes. #rip #savehiphop
what did you spray on the plate before putting in the tshirt?
im totally beginner here.. what kind of screen did you use to print the subject?can you help me with this.. I want to try to print but i dont know how can i burn the image
Can't we just use the squeegee to apply the emulsion ?
Once you make a design on the screen is it permanent, or is there a way to
Clean it off and use it for a different design?
It's not permanent, there's a remover for the pink emulsion
You can remove it by applying stencil remover(crystalloid powder)
Not at all. Sometimes little particles of emulsion you spray out fly around and stick to the walls or tub, but just spray or wipe them off soon and you're good to go. Also known as "Press Wash" because you can use it to safely clean your press.
What kind of clear paper do you use or what is it?
brand and model is the printer that you print the fotolitos ?
whats that u spray before placing the Tshirt on the board
What did you use to expose the screen and how long?
which cloth is used for screen print
what is the last part u did? is that for drying the print?
Yeah, I still haven't tried that yet, but have seen it done. I really dig your videos, man! I've watched a ton of them. Keep up the great work!
Nice beat & Nice Vid!!!
hye..how long it will takes under the light ?..thanxx!!
Hey bud what software are you using and where can I get it?
What's the name of the music track it's awesome!!!
Nujabes - Who's Theme
Much appreciated.

The orange stuf only comes out one side on mine, what should I do?
Make it come out 2 sides?

What is the lightning process name? And what tools was that?
Exposure of your artwork

thanks for a little more insite.
The knife cut film I spoke of is "Rubylith" from Ulano...
John Grindinger, do you have any video's im new and you are so right, some job come out so good, and some are so back lol
It rigth I just started doing this with home made items and I started thinking how hard was it back in the beginning of this art! And ur right it is hard !
well thank god we arent in those times huh john
Where did you get the sprayer
Can I remove the stencil using Zonrox?
Is it okay to use "milky" film positives?
Does this stain your tub at all? I want to start printing from home but I can't stain the tub if I do.d
what kind of ink that used?? plastisol or rubber?
May i ask the light for exposure, is it workable with any normal light bulb?
Light bulb for home use, florescent lamps?
are the screens reusable? or do you only get one order out of a screen?
