Hi Friends, this is part 2 of the propane heater review from MrHeater. On the coldest day of the year I put it to the test. Outside temps are -1 degrees with -20 wind chills. The heater did quite well in the newly insulated cabin. Enjoy the video

I use Vornado air circulators to move heat into far away rooms....heats up our entire home. Don't forget to clean the air intakes in the pilot light every year before you light up for the season....if you don't they will clog up with dust collected during the summer and the heater will turn off after about two seasons because the lack of oxygen to the flame. There are videos here on YT on how to do it properly. If your room or home is small, then all you need is a "Windward" ceiling fan to push the air from the ceiling to the floor and outwards to other rooms. The Windward has a CFM air volume around 6000 and is cheap in price but has a great modern look. Best bang for your buck ceiling fan when it comes to air output. The fan blades were designed by an airplane pilot. He was looking at the ultimate fan blade every time he got into his cockpit and saw his propeller! lol!

Oh! That metal reflector is a great idea!
It seems to help with heat deflection. I think I was more concerned for safety in case of a flame shooting out of the heater. I never used a bigger propane heater like this.

How accurate can that reading be with the monitor right above the heat source on a metal backing? Lol. Wouldn’t it have been more accurate across the room away from being directly above the heater?
Lol. After the fact I thought the same thing. I am going to do another video soon to wrap up my heater conclusions based off of the feedback from everyone on UA-cam. I have the same heater in my camper trailer 25foot It's the only heat source right now until this cold weather ends and i use a Rechargeable battery fan that pushes the heat into the back room and It works wonders Hope you had a beautiful Thanksgiving Safe travels ✌
How long does the propane tank last? I'm in a 26 footer.
That’s great to hear. I just added a small dehumidifier , solar exhaust vent and a ceiling fan in the cabin. I hope that will help circulate and keep some of the moisture down. It was pretty bad last year. Thanks for checking out the video.

Those heaters are awesome. They do put off a lot of moisture, though.
I agree Jeff the moisture is a concern. I just put a bucket of damp rid in the cabin to see if it will help remedy the moisture issue. Thanks for watching the video

You See, (FLAME HEAT) Heats Up The Air Molicules In A Space.. And, When Air Molicules Heat Up? They Tend To Turn Into Moisture. Which Gives Us Rain.. 😲😲😄😄But In The Case Of An Inclosed Space? We Get Condensation. Same Principle? Different Process.. However.. If You Leave A Window Cracked Open, The Heated Air Molicules Will Go Out, And Fresh Ones Will Come In. Thereby? Little Or NO Condensation.. Yep...
When you burn propane it makes CO2, heat, and water vapors it's just chemistry. The water comes from burning a .... hydrocarbon molecule.

Moisture? really ? I have been running gas ventless heaters for 35 years long before anybody knew they existed and I NEVER had a moisture problem soo make up your own mind and be honest instead of repeating what other people say, it doesn't make you look smarter repeating what others say
I’m curious did you insulate your propane tank? The reason I ask this is I’ve heard that it may be hard to get the gas to your buddy heater if it’s too cold!

@@rayjsoutdooradventure1076 Propane box with insulation will do no good without a heat source to let the insulation work. The inside of the box, if it's outside, will just go to air temperature and will actually stay colder when the sun comes out cuz you've created an ice chest. It's a conundrum if you aren't will to keep the propane somewhere inside.

Do you have any idea how long a 20 pound propane tank will run your heater? I have a heater like that NIB for emergencies. I have yet to open the box.
Hi Ron, yes based off of my experience so far I would say it is about 3 to 4 days using the 20lb tank in temps around 20 degrees Fahrenheit on average. I have not run the heater 24 hours straight but in intervals of 6 to 7 hours while I been working on the cabin and I still have propane left over. I been doing work there for over a week so far.I am looking to do a follow up in late January when I plan to stay in the cabin for 3 days to make I am right on my assumption 👍. I have been using the same heater heating my 437sf tiny home for 2 seasons now and it works great. Keeps the place at 70 when it’s 5 outside no problem. I don’t have an upstairs but do have vaulted ceilings. I don’t have any of the moisture problems as I live in a desert.

If you're running propane heat at 5F you have moisture coming from the propane, desert or not.
Try it in a tent and you'll see how much moisture it will literally rain inside the tent at 5F if you try heating with propane
Always gotta be that one person that puts good ideas down🙄, just ignore their one bad experience, just like Covid, they may have it one time and almost died but you had it 5 times and never coughed once, same concept here my guy 😉
I forgot about this thread. To the naysayer. I understand how propane works as I was a licensed installer for 12 years. And when I say I live in a desert I really do. Average humidity is 30% it’s dry as shit here. Hung my clothes out to dry today and bath towels were done dry in about 20 min.

I bought my heater but I haven’t connected it because I am confused because it came with battery AAA and I don’t know where it goes does anyone know where it is supposed to be
Hi Maria, sorry for the late response. It goes in the igniter button on top of the heater on the left . You unscrew the button and insert the battery. That is where the igniter gets it spark. You press down on that button when you start the heater while pushing down on the right knob in pilot position. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching the video.

It does not. It’s only when you ignite the heater.
How long does a 20 pound propane tank last?
Hi, good question. I have to be straight with you . I do not live in my cabin but collectively I have spent a total of 4 days and 3 night with it on low and I still had propane available most likely for a day maybe 2. I know it’s a bit of a generic answer. But I can only speak off my experience. I hope it gives you a ball park idea. I left it on the lowest setting just keep the chill off. The cabin stayed around 62 degrees Fahrenheit. Thanks so much for checking out the video.
Once you get everything finished. I think you'll find that you'll either just keep the Mr. Heater or get a bigger one rather than a wood stove.
So far the heater has been great. I had a few folks make suggestions and I followed what they had to say about circulating the air and it’s been good. I may do one last video to follow up. Then it’s on to the next thing.
@@rayjsoutdooradventure1076 Circulating is important. As you know in basic science. Heat goes up and stays up until it cools, then falls. So you would want your heater at the lowest possible point in order to heat the whole area. Once you have that accomplished. You need a return vent. Something at the highest point to pull the hot air back down to the lowest point. Now you're talking about efficiency. Hope everything works out for you. I enjoyed the video.
Get you one with a fan they make them with fans they also make a 30000 btu one you would have to lut a wood stove in if you habe a fan that Circulate the air faster

The fans are a waste of money. You’re better off placing a fan you may already own above the heater and blow the heat that way. I have a fake fireplace and set a small fan on the mantle above the Mr. Heater. But I really don’t need to because the heater fills the house quickly.
My only comment is. The hose is the main failure of this product. So why is the filter at the wrong end. ?? Oil from inside the 10ft hose is the major clogging problem. Is there room to put filter at the receiving end. ?
It has a 90 going into the heater. I followed the directions on the hose package by Mr.Heater. I installed it to the letter. That’s all I know so far. Thanks for watching and bringing that up. I know my little buddy needs a filter when I use a 20lb with it.
Have a 20,000 btu and a 30,000 btu. Like the 20,000 btu better. Don't like the way the fans turn off and on. How long do you think that 20 pound propane bottle will last? Like my 18,000 btu Mr. Buddy when not to cold.
I am looking to get a fan so it will circulate the heat better. Are you saying the fan is not good. Just curious. And yes as far as the tank goes it has been on off and on for about 3 days in the freezing temps before it was fully depleted. All in all a 20lb tank is a good option for a weekend camp out and that’s about it . This only my opinion from trying it out so far. I am doing more tests as I have been working on the cabin and not staying for long periods of time yet. More to come I guess. Thanks for checking out the video

My heater works great but the stench from it burns my eyes so bad that I can't use it and I have no solvents inside the house to make a smell like that like kerosene
Sorry to hear about the smell Van. For some reason my heater is not smelly. I been using a standard 20lb tank from Wal Mart. I don’t have a solution unfortunately. Thanks for watching the video.
move the temp gauge across the room. your reading is above the heater. heat rises your temperature is not accurate.

what does it cost you for propane now .and for how big a tank Also buy an eco fan it uses no electric . I still use 1 of those fans that belonged to my parents and I can remember it since 1959 in the house in PA . It really does blow the heat out into the room . My house is insulated with roxul rockwool in VA with 2 x6 stud walls . But I want to add my propane heater to the basement . Did you hook yours up and what hoses did you use and what connectors and what size tank . Great video would love to see your cabin . I live in VA and they are putting in solar farm here 7 of them owned by foriegn companies and took down thousands and thousands of acres of trees for the panels and for thousands of huge ugly poles to carry the power to god knows where . Green trees that clean the air and grass for gravel and ugly black panels and poles to carry it . They say it is ot for us it is for businesses . I live rural VA all I see is cows and horses
Hi Sissy, I used a 20lb propane tank. I have 6 tanks on hand. I made the initial tank investment before all the prices went up. The local Al Ace Hardware fills my tanks for 15.00 . I got my hose and regulator kit on Amazon. It’s for the 20 BTU ventless heater . It has a 12 foot hose in the kit. Here is the link. @@rayjsoutdooradventure1076 No ace hardware near me but new refilled tanks cost 20 dollars at lowes to refill them I will check it out a midway propane . I do have a propane gage that shows how much propane is in the tank . I know one place besides to refill and they charge 24 dollars
@@rayjsoutdooradventure1076 I got 2 free 20 lb tanks at the flea market saturday so will use them at first and called midaway propane to get them filled , but then used my lowes card and my credit at lowes that I had to fill 3 of them for only 21 dollars . Miday told me 14.99 to fill them but midway is 3 miles past lowes and decided this time to use them . Less gas used to go to lowes
