    For A-Level History Edexcel Britain: Protest, Agitation and Parliamentary Reform (1780-1928), I saw a video that said that there is new any exam questions on the first chapter which is about things like the different franchises and the distribution of seats. How true is this?

      Hi, if it's on the specification then there can be a question on it. It could be part of a question on why change happened. Something like 'The unequal distribution of seats in 1780 was the most significant reason for demands for political reform'.
      I hope that helps - the main thing is to ensure your revision covers all the points on the specification.

      @ thanks for your response.
      So, for Paper 3 if there was a question like “To what extent was the Payment of MPs the most significant factor in the change of the social makeup of the House of Commons between 1815-1928”, how’d you answer that?
      I think you have to cover 75% of the time period for L5 but I don’t how to fit this all in without doing 4 internal paragraphs.
      I would ordinarily talk about the Payment of MPs in paragraph 1 and analyse it and conclude that it wasn’t most important; then the 1832 Reform Act (since it’s at the beginning of the chronology of 1815-1928) and analyse its impact and conclude that it was not the most important; but then in Paragraph 3 the final paragraph I would want to say that the 1918 Reform Act was the most significant and evaluate it and analyse it and explain why it was more important than the 1832 Reform Act and the 1911 Payment of MPs.
      However, I feel like jumping from 1832 straight to 1918 and also talking about 1911 misses out a huge chunk of history from the late 19th century in which I could discuss maybe the 1884 Reform Act or the 1883 Corrupt Practices Act and I wouldn’t hit L5. However, if I discussed these in addition to the 1918 Reform Act then it would be 4 internal paragraphs.
      What would you recommend I do?
      Could I possibly in paragraph 3 in which I seek to affirm why the 1918 Reform Act was most important not only compare it favourably to the 1911 payment of MPs and 1832 Reform Act but also write a couple of sentences (not a whole extra paragraph) about the 1884 Reform Act, 1883 Corrupt Practices Act, 1872 Ballot Act etc and how these were impactful but not as impactful and give a brief explanation why.
      Would that be sufficient to meet L5?

      @@LindaAndrews-ly1qf This is a really good question. Your structure is good - don't worry about jumping around in terms of chronology - I would say it's best to go for your paragraphs in terms of their significance to your argument rather than chronology. I hope that makes sense.
      In terms of missing events from the 19th century out (ie the other Acts), you could mention these as links in the 1832 paragraph - as in 'the 1832 Reform Act paved the way for future reform such as...' That linking is a good way to get the coverage you need in a breadth essay.
      I did a video on breadth essays that may help here;
