It’s what the locals call Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Since Michigan is made up of two parts, they call the Upper Peninsula the U.P. People who live on the UP are called “Yoopers”
I'm looking at the map-I don't see "two parts." And isn't a peninsular a body of land surrounded by water on three sides? Aslo, you have to explain, “Yoopers” :)
@@leonardodalongisland So the two parts are the UP, which is the northern part of Michigan that has the Keewenaw peninsula, and is on the northern side of the Mackinaw bridge. The other part of Michigan is the part that looks like the mitten, and is called “Lower Michigan”. Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, all Lower Michigan. And I have no idea where the term “yoopers” comes from, but I think it comes from U.P. So like calling someone a UP-er just got shortened to Yooper. That’s my best guess, but if you’re ever on the Great Lakes and say Yooper, everyone will know what you mean!
Okay, I'm a little familiar with that but this entire time I thought we were talking about Minnesota. Isn't your video titled; "Minnesota's Bermuda Triangle"? How did we get on to Michigan?
Lived in Michigan for a long time and this was still really intriguing to watch. Way to go Opassa Travels!!!!!!
Really great video! As a native Duluthian, you captured the spirit around here well. I really like the visuals and music!
Good job...but what is, "U.P."?
