    Those repetitive transitions with the same "whoosh" sound drove me crazy. Also, how did you take so long on such a simple video? Please make shorter videos.

      I always pause and make awkward repetitive motions with a whoosh sound in real life.. Could this be why people cross the street when they see me coming? Help!!

      I use it every day- it's not a complicated piece of machinery. It would have taken me less than three minutes to go over every detail of it as I've taught several people! 9 minutes into it and I didn't know how to use it- not a good video for the purpose of making coffee with the dripper. One thing I did learn is that you can take it apart without fear of breaking it.

    The sound FX are kinda cheesy and unnecessary.
    Cool idea for a product, I have a ceramic pour over coffee dripper thing like this but having the seal so you can choose how long to steep it for and not have it leak out prematurely is pretty 'clever'.

    Nice review! It's possible to make lot more coffee if you do the blooming phase as a dripper first. For me it's the best way to make coffee in the clever.

    You could use it to make a slow steeped cold tea.
    Even BPA free plastic, may leech other similar chemicals. Some plastics are better than others though.

    Want more coffee? Use the large, make double strength, dilute=4 cups.
    Want cold coffee? Add room temperature water and refrigerate 24 hours.

    The background music reminded me of those 'inspiring' youtube videos like "this horse learns to walk again after lifelong abuse, watch his miraculous recovery!!" Or "watch the first flight of these endangered hummingbirds!!" But this video is just about coffee

    Seems like you can also brew tea with it. Which makes it more versatile than aeropress for travel.

    This is just a great adaptation of the Teavana Perfectea teamaker that has been around for years now. The construction/design is very similar and it wouldn't surprise me if they're made by the same manufacturer that makes the Teavana products.

    Wish I could find a reusable stainless steel filter for my clever dripper large. Bought a Cilio Number 4 as instructed by French press coffee but it doesn’t fit. I’m spewing🤮

    How does this compare to the AeroPress? I make 2 cups of coffee each day in my 15 oz. mug, so I would need the large? The trouble I'm having with the AeroPress is that I have to change the seal every 6 months. I tried the Espro Travel, which make great tasting coffee, but clean up is not easy. That why I use the AeroPress, you just push out the grounds in the trash. This Clever Dripper looks easy to clean, just dump the filter of grounds in the trash. Thanks for the video.

      Freddie, I have never used the AeroPress, but I have used the large (16 oz) Clever Dripper several years. As the video mentioned, you do get French Press flavor, but filtered. I personally prefer French Press for the house, but use Clever Dripper at the office where I want a quicker/easier cleanup. It's a great compromise.

    Really need the large Clever for one large mug. I disagree with you on the grinder. After upgrading from a Baratza Maestro to a Virtuoso I noticed a substantial improvement in the brew, due mainly to the grind being more consistent and less fines.
    Clever cons:
    1. Stains after a few months use and then looks ugly.
    2. Cheap valve tends to fall apart after 1 - 2 years use.
    3. Plastic is a very poor insulator. Maintaining water temperature is important in brewing an optimal cup of coffee.
    Bonavita Immersion Dripper pros:
    1. Much more attractive than the Clever.
    2. Bone china is a much better insulator than the plastic.
    Bonavita Immersion Dripper cons:
    1. Lever rather than Clever.
    2. Plastic lever is fragile and tends to break after a year (but Bonavita will send replacement parts). I wish they would switch to a metal lever. They’re well aware of the design flaw. It’s the only real weakness in their dripper.

    I love mine (Large). Makes a great, quick pint of coffee to start the morning. All the advantages of French Press brewing with none of the fines. I only wish it was made with brown tinted plastic so it wouldn't appear to be stained after a while.

    you can easily do a pour over with a Bunn coffee holder/funnel- so simple to drill a ball, attach a string- it will plug the exit hole till just the right time. Like pulling the ol'e flusher of yester year. Bunns are everywhere in cabinets and garage sales across America, not to mention more. Filters a plenty. Yes feel free to make coffee at home, simply, just like adults have been doing since WW1 & 2. Gadgets cost money. One person just sat it on a rubber tipped screw that platformed across the cup till, lift off. No 3rd grade education necessary. We all have a microwave, measuring cup, or sharpie line, and clean water. Funnels are available at the dollar store. Good Luck.

    Something I've been curious about is how is a scale meant for measuring weight used measure volume of water? 12 fluid ounces is not equal to 12 ounces of weighted coffee.

    • @Frenchpresscoffeelove
      @Frenchpresscoffeelove  7 років тому

      On the scale we use you can change measuring units from oz to ml to g and etc., Hope this helps. Enjoy your coffee!

    • @ggivensjr
      @ggivensjr 7 років тому

      What scale do you use? I am really trying to understand how a scale can convert weight to volume. I did find a scale made Procizian, is that the scale you use? This scale says it can measure ml and fl oz (US & UK). I purchased the scale and it appears to me that conversion from ml to fl oz is UK standard not US standard. Is your scale the same. I am not trying to discredit your information just trying to fully understand.

      +George Givens, Jr. a ml of water weighs 1g. So measuring the weight gives you the volume.

    Is the carpenter's level to demonstrate size a humor attempt= for free you can pick up a 5 gal paint mixing stick/ Found either at Home Depot or Lowes the HD version has 15" marked in eighths. They are both 21.5" but Lowesa was too c heap to add the 15" of graphic assistance. Like the filters of which you speak- not all are created equal

    Another useless gadget, coffee quickly gets cold using this method, the subtle coffee notes and aroma escape into the air before you get to enjoy it, plus you need to always have a supply of paper filters with you - the cost adds up over time. Best solution for most people - home and travel - is to use a double wall vacuum flask. A 450 ml capacity is good for one person and 750 ml or more capacity for two people. Warm the flask internally with hot water, empty, then refill with hot water at desired temperature (ideally less than boiling). Now add a 7 - 10 gram coffee bag (use 2 bags for 2 people) and screw the lid on to the flask. A three minute infusion gives a good strength, and up to ten minutes infusion for maximum strength. Simple, no fuss, virtually NO sludge and very easy to clean ready for next time.

    • @sloperaly
      @sloperaly 4 роки тому

      WRONG! The only detail to add is that you should pre-warm the mug and start pouring the water, just off the boil at around 204-5 of course keeping it covered. The coffee stays piping hot (especially if you don't go from one receptacle to another, double walled or not. The first glass pourer is sexy looking but useless if you're making a whole cup of coffee for yourself- simply drip it into your pre-warmed cup direct.y
