Sincere thanks for the clear and effective explanation for noobies like me🤟funny, when i created a final .mov file and uploaded on social media the sound disappeared, mysterious....
Glad it helped! If the sound was recorded correctly and disappeared after uploading to social media, then it must be an issue with that particular social media app.
Hey bro thanks so much for the tutorial! This works a little differently while I'm using my airpods? It just makes it sound like I'm listening through a phone
Cool! It's a good way. he earned it. But I have a problem. I can't separate the sound left and right. I have it in mono for a reason. Can you tell me why that is?
Hmm, I'm not sure, for me the DAW audio has always worked in stereo. I still record all my videos with this method and never had a problem with mono sound.
@@wise1beats Not really bro, that's a bit outside of the scope of this channel. But if I was vlogging, I would use a mirrorless camera with a rotating screen (to see what's in the frame if I'm doing talking head vlogs) and a shotgun mic mounted on the camera. Or you can use your phone of course.
Hi, would you happen to know of a method that does what you do here but also incorporates yet another stereo pair of I/O for say, a analogue mastering chain? I use cubase and created a hardware insert (2ch in, 2ch out) and I would need to record these changes I make on the hardware in OBS too. But even with Blackhole 16ch i seem to get only 2I/O. 🤷♂️
OBS on Mac doesn't see the separate inputs of an audio interface. All the inputs are recorded together and there's no way to separate them. Not sure I understand your use case 100% so let me know if this answered your question.
I recorded the screen with OBS but I think the camera was recorded externally. But these days I usually record everything with OBS, including the camera.
Hi there! Thank you so much for this video. It was so helpful. It worked! You don't know how much trouble I had trying to record my screen using OBS... I noticed an "Encoder Preset" setting in the output section. If you have that option now on OBS, what did you set that option on?
Glad it helped! The encoder preset is set to "veryfast" but if you have a powerful computer you can try "fast" or "faster" and see if it improves the quality of your recording.
That is really helpful. Thanks. But I have problems with delay when recording from my webcam. The voice is rather much delayed from the video. How can I fix that 😁
Glad it was helpful! Usually the video is delayed and not the audio. But if that's the case, right click on your video source, choose Filters and in the Effect filters section you can add a Render Delay. Then experiment with the amount of delay and set it so that it lines up with your audio.
@@LowHeatBeats You are right of course. It is the video that is delayed. Can I fix that too? And it also seems that the video quality is rather poor. I use a 2K webcam and a MAC mini with 16 GB RAM.
@@peterkroman I don't know why you're getting bad video quality, there could be many reasons. But to fix the sync, go to Edit - Advanced Audio Properties and set Sync Offset for your audio source to delay it.
Great video, so easy to follow and straight to the point, thanks so much! I'm all setup but experiencing latency, I'm recording 12 channels of live drums along to a track All in Logic, but there is latency with what I'm playing on the drums live to the audio track if that makes sense? Even when the drums are played on their own it almost feels like there is an echo type effect happening, any help would be much appreciated!
Hey, Big uP! how do you record your music videos? the same? There are of course different options, it would be nice if you would say more about them. I would like to put something of mine on YT at some point.
Hey thanks for the video. So, by following those steps I shouldn't get any ambient audio from my environment right? For example, I wont hear my dog barking when I screen record right?
When OBS records, does it mix the mic and the Ableton output together? I keep getting them mixed as one embedded into the video. How can I have 2 audio stems? One for Ableton out and one for mic?
@@Mixedbydavey Yes, they are recorded mixed in the same file. I don't know if it's possible to record them separately. There's an OBS plugin called Source Record that lets you record different video sources to different output files, but I don't know if that applies to audio as well.
I use Cubase on Mac and I’m unable to have independent input and output devices. I can send the DAW audio out if I have the virtual device selected but I can’t do any input recording (instruments etc.) while recording.
Oops replied from the wrong account. Yeah, some DAWs don't allow that. It's a bummer. I think as of Mac OS Ventura there's another, built-in option to capture system audio, you might want to investigate if that would allow you to use inputs in Cubase while capturing the audio.
You can resize the OBS capture source to zoom on the drum track, but you're probably better off zooming to it while you're editing the video after recording.
If you followed the instructions correctly it should record the DAW audio as shown in the video. Also you have to mute the mic audio source if you’re not going to use it.
Hey, thanks for the video. Very good, but I have one question. Is it possible to separate the metronome, so that you can hear it in Ableton but not record it in obs. I've tried a few things but can't get it to work. Best
@@LowHeatBeatsOh, that's sad... Under Windows it is easy to solve the problem with the Reaplugs Reastream VST. I hope that I will find a solution. I will let you know. Thank you

Glad you figured it out! I still think I explained everything relevant to the topic of the video. If I had gone through all the other preferences that are not related to capturing the audio it would have watered down the video, as this isn't a general tutorial about Live's audio preferences.
Hello! so i ran into an issue im not sure if you were aware of... I cannot record anything while using OBS. What if i want to stream making a beat and want to record with a microphone. It will not let me change the input of my audio track in pro tools, it i greyed out when i use the multiple output.
@@bloomingbeats1318 I assume this is because Pro Tools doesn't allow you to have different audio devices for input and output like Ableton Live does. In Live you can use the Multiple output device as an output and your regular audio interface as input, so recording works fine. I've never used Pro tools so I can't confirm this 100% percent but this is the most likely reason.

Definitely, I've heard there an application called Voicemeeter that works for this but I don't have a PC to try it and make a video with it.

No idea why that may be happening, every audio device you have in the Audio MIDI setup should show up in Ableton.
