    These foam gutter guards were a godsend to me. Super easy to install. Very inexpensive And they work. I have a lot of oak and camphor leaves and twigs. For the first time in years my gutters are actually working without having to clean out the leaves every month. I do have a metal roof so I don't get the asphalt granules. If I had asphalt I'd probably have to clean or replace them more often. But even if you had to replace them every 2 years it would still be worth it.

    I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been called to remove this kind gutter guard. I does keep stuff out but it gets so clogged moss grows in it and they it becomes clogged

      Yeah cause there’s plenty of morons out there. The people that just leave them there indefinitely, instead of replacing them once they get dirty/clogged - are the same people that don’t change the oil in their car, or change it once every 50,000 miles. Whole service industries are built around people like these.

      I think these were not a good choice for me. I had to remove mine and throw them away.

    All well and good when new.. I installed this on my 2 story house. A few years later gutters full of dirt and this product rots. Gutters stay wet and muddy. Shingle grit stays in gutter. Keeps leaves out, okay. What a nasty mess to remove. And you will be removing it. Sun brakes it down.

    Just had my gutters cleaned, didn’t know my front gutters had these. I told him without hesitation to remove them. He agreed and said he normally tells people remove them. Why would you want foam in your gutters? Lol

    Pitch of the roof is never discussed. We have 10:12 pitch and many other gutter covers (steel mesh) don’t work (water travels over the gutters).

    I have looked into this. It's cheap snd easy to put in but it's not permanent. Needs to be replaced few yrs.

    I can only imagine the dirt build-up. Also damages done from the rain and sun. Taking these out to be replaced must be one messy job.

    It wouldn't work on Canadian winters -20C

      That is what I was thinking. A frozen one would push out the gutter in winter?

    • @BigBear--
      @BigBear-- 2 роки тому

      Works just fine in freezing temps. It’s only meant to keep leaves and debris out. It’s fine if it freezes in the winter, nothing really happens to it, or your gutters. When it thaws it continues to work as before.

      @@BigBear-- Do you think it might actually help with ice dams? I just have a small one over one doorway every year. Maybe the foam insert would help shed a lot of the snow before it froze? You sounded like you have some experience in this area.

    • @BigBear--
      @BigBear-- 2 роки тому

      @@SilverGirl-925 I'll be honest, i have a gutter on top of the main windows that run out to the porch area, and every year we get a huge ice dam with large icicles hanging from the gutters. This year after I installed the foam inserts, I didnt have any icicles hanging at all. However I didnt go out there and look up at the roof to check for the ice dam. Though they always went hand in hand together, so Im assuming if there's no icicles, there was no ice dam either.
      I think its definitely worth a try in your case, its a cheap fix for gutter clutter and ice issues in my opinion, and worth taking a chance and trying it out.

      @@BigBear-- Thank you. It would be cheap to try. Maybe it will work since foam doesn't freeze. I really appreciate your response.

    This did not work for me. Clogged with seeds and other small debris witch made the dirt build up and then harden. May work for you but not me.

      These aren’t meant as a permanent addition to your house, you should be changing them out. Depending on your environment you might need to replace them once every year, some will last for 2-3 years, but sooner or later they will be need to be replaced. Think of them like your cars oil filter, or air filter, once it’s dirty, you need to replace them.

    • @forthefunofit5487

      @@BigBear-- one year is all I got. The instructions never said I had to change them.....clean them yes.

    • @BigBear--
      @BigBear-- 2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, it’s not rocket science, they don’t include instructions for changing them, cause it should be painfully obvious that a piece of foam isn’t meant to last forever.

    • @BigBear--

      Like any product they have their uses. It’s generally better for newer roofs, and areas that see heavy rain. The new roof thing, cause older roofs with standard shingle construction will wear over time and start depositing sandy residue into the gutter system, that sandy sludge is the shingle material breaking down and flowing into the gutter. That sandy stuff will speed up the clogging of these foam style GutterStuff filters. They are good with heavy rain however that can overpower standard metal mesh style gutter covers, resulting in water flowing over the mesh and off the side of the gutter, rather than into it. Another issue is if you have a lot of Pine trees around the house, particularly that have branches that overhang the roof, you’ll get a ton of pine needles that will block up pretty much any filter system fairly quickly.

    Could you not just use a pool noodle and save money?

    • @Pete..
      @Pete.. 2 роки тому +2

      I think you spoke too fast before thinking on that one
      there's a reason why pool noodles make it so you can float in the water and this material that they're using in the gutters is made to water can flow through it and leaves stay out of it I don't think I need to explain anymore before you come to the realization why what you said it's just a little bit funny but a lotta bit stupid

      They work at my house. Super easy to install. You have to replace or clean then every coupe of years. But they work fantastic. But my roof is metal so I don't get the fine granules like you do from an asphalt shingles roof.

    What a complete waste of money . These rubbish foam will 100 per cent get blocked . These are similar to pond filters which of course need cleaning so what have you saved . These products are all about the sales .
