The whole Wacken 2013 concert of Nightwish is one of the very few concerts that is at the very top of the live music spectrum. It's a masterclass where the stars align and real magic happens. Every song is a gem, even the instrumental one when Floor did a costume change.
Also, Floor's belting in this song at the end is absolutely amazing. Marco's is always impressive as well. Miss that guy.
He's a Finnish guy, they spell Marko, with a K, not a C.

Waken 2013 in general was just pretty spectacular!
The Greatest Show on Earth is my personal favourite Nightwish performance. It feels epic from start to end and is just dripping with energy and atmosphere.
As for most emotional Nightwish song, I'd have to say Poet and The Pendulum, hands down.
But first Tampere--- Greatest Show on earth --- After that Poet and Pendulum. Tarja wear those colours...
Quite a huge surprise, isn't it? And Marko's voice, who would guess he has such a beautiful and powerful voice matching Floor's. It's truly a match made in heaven for us mere mortals to enjoy.

The 3rd act of this performance is fucking bananas. And Floor has said that Ever Dream is the most difficult NW song for her to perform. You can tell too, she’s bouncing off the upper limit of her vocal abilities with this one. And still… she nails it.
It's so much harder since she sings it in her Chest voice. Tarja used her operatic voice for it. (Both versions were nice btw, but this high in chest voice is a tad more impressive)

It really is a demanding song to sing. You have to belt full on for so long. And Floor uses so much power that it really is a miracle that her vocal chords can take it. But she is so technically gifted that she pulls is off. It really is an amazing thing to hear.

She is belting, somehow. Don’t ask me how but she is clearly using her chest while having the tonal quality of her headvoice.
My dream would be to sit down with her and have her explain to me how this is done in detail. Because I can’t see how it can be done. But I love hearing it being done.

This song is so demanding of the one singing it. It just keeps buikding and it’s nonstop belting right to the very end. But Floor looks so relaxed and manages to really “paint” with her voice to successfully convey the the emotions of the song.
I’ve seen many bands and solo artists but nothing can compare to a Nightwish gig. The energy that comes of that stage insane, and the audience gives it right back and that exchange is so amazingly powerful.
I was sitting a good 80 feet from the stage but their stage presence makes it feel like you’re in the first row.
And there is something about Floors voice that can’t be captured on a recording. Because when I heard it live it was so intense with emotion that I couldn’t help but to cry several times. It’s like she truly is a Siren and I think it is singers like her who inspired the myth in the first place. Becuase I can see myself sailing into some cliffs trying to find the person that’s singing so hauntingly beautiful.
So, if you get the chance to see them, drop everything and go. You NEED to experience them live.
Completely agree with something about Floor’s voice that is just not captured in studio. Saw them live 2nd row in states this past year and the different colors, inflections, tonal qualities of her voice not to mention the flawless switching from head to chest voice and the switches from more classical placements to more rock style in one word is absolutely mind blowing. Not even gonna discuss her stage presence as it is unparalleled in my opinion. I could it take my eyes off her …felt like I was cheating on Emppu as right in front of him 😂
The only thing better then Floor singing this with Nightwish is Tarja singing it with Nightwish. Floor has good voice, no argue there, and it is a great version, but this song was written when Tarja was the lead.
I was fortunate enough after almost a three-year wait to see Nightwish in New York City on mother's Day a couple years ago....... Now I've seen a ton of concerts and they range from like share to The Beach boys Chicago the Goo Goo Dolls smashing pumpkins...... Dave Matthews band........ And up until the Nightwish concert I had never been to a concert before and witnessed people crying........ That all changed the night I sawed Nightwish in concert......... And the irony of it is that Nightwish is symphonic metal and a lot of people think that metal music doesn't have a lot of emotion and certain thoughts........ If you thought that then you would be extremely wrong LOL
Ghost Love Score. It's not only the most epic and emotional Nightwish song, it's one of the most brilliant compositions in symphonic metal.

Well, imho one of the coolest one could be "7 Days to the Wolves" from the 2015 Wembley Arena concert.

This version of "Ever Dream" is certainly my favorite of all the versions of this song I have heard since "Century Child".
PS; It would be funny to have a commentary from the blonde girl who is singing. She really enjoys the song, to say the least.

Have you ever seen so many good songs at one concert? I've been lucky enough (and old enough) to see almost all the great live rock and metal acts (Stones, Springsteen. Led Zeppelin. Black Sabbath, The Who, Bowie Floyd....you name it.......and quire honestly Nightwish is definitley in the top 3 of ALL TIME!.....young lady, another stupendous reaction. Nice observation about how sureal a great concert can be.....and I agree, when Floor opens it up in 5th gear, it is moving.....great hearfelt reaction!

The ultimate pick-me-up song for me. The final double-bass part with Floor riding the sonic wave is breathtaking.
As for the most energetic NIGHTWISH performances, I will suggest "Wishmaster" (The End of an Era DVD), "Seven Days to the Wolves" (Live at Wembley), and "The Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" (another pin-point complex but smooth duet between Floor and Marco, Live at Buenos Aires).

The two most emotional NW songs are "Dead Boy's Poem" live from Buenos Aires and "The Poet and the Pendulum" live from Wembley. The most epic song IMO is "The Greatest Show on Earth" live from Tampere. The most energetic? Maybe "7 days to the Wolves" live from Wembley. 🤩

I have watched the entire concert at Wacken...2013.....several times....and it is unreal! It's worth listening to from start to finish.
The lineup is...of course Floor Jansen....lead vocals.
Tuomas Holopainen...he is the genius behind the music of Nightwish....as he writes and composes the music. He is the keyboard player.
Marko is the bass player, although he left the band a few years ago for personal reasons and now has his own band.
Emppu....the mighty lead guitarist! He has been with the band from day one, as he is a close friend of Tuomas.
The drummer is Jukka, who actually had to stop playing because of chronic insomnia....which can be very dangerous for an individual! I know...I had chronic, obstructive sleep apnea that was causing me to hallucinate while I was awake! I was getting less than 20 minutes of REM sleep every night! Jukka works in a management position with Nightwish! Kai is now the drummer...and he and Julia are friends and I believe that Julia recommended Kai!
Now..new Bass guitarist....named Jukka...he is very proficient and was a studio musician before joining Nightwish permanently!
Then, last but not least, there is Troy. Ask him what instruments he plays...he says yes! I rather imagine he has his own studio where he can hang out and play whatever instrument he feels like at the time!!

As a Nightwish fan, I'm always curious of international views. This track Everdream slides into the more commercial side of the band along with tracks the band originally didn't like Elan for instance rated as far too soft a ballad for what was then a hard symphonic metal band. The need to attract attention meant going commercial. Floor is a highly professionally trained singer and soprano with absolute total breath control that is unrivalled playing in a symph metal band . Metallica have noted her even having her as support. Seems the mention of Metallica will tweek most American metal fans to at least look in her direction, promotes the commercialisation of Nightwish undoubtably as we have seen with these across the pond reviews popping up recently...alas Nightwish are a serious intelligent band with some amazing musicians indicative of European symph metal just playing to get noticed with these songs such as Everdream.noticed . Just like Metallica side step the commercial Enter Sandman and look at Masters of puppets a thrash masterpiece. As with Nightwish side step Everdream ...and listen to a vocal masterpiece Love Ghost Score Wacken 2013. The white lines of commercialisation are so addictive .
'Ever dream' was from Nightwish's 2002 album 'Century Child' - the first record feat. Marco Hietala on vocals + bass... It's lyrically a dark and disillusioned album for Tuomas (keyboards) who wrote the songs after the success of their 3rd album 'Wishmaster' in 2000. The fame also came w/ pressure... relentless criticism and a host of problems for the Nightwish songwriter. He was so depressed that he considered disbanding the band after the record was done.
U can hear his anguish in the lyrics of the songs on the record - 'End of all hope'... 'Dead to the world'... 'Slaying the dreamer'... 'Bless the child'... It is one of their finest albums cos it's so dark and energetic at the same time.
Most energetic Nightwish performance? Probably ... 'Dark chest of wonders'... 'Planet Hell' ... 'Stargazers' 🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥

Nightwish has a lot of mass appeal in the Symphonic Metal genre, so they're the "Big" act on the scene, (they are to Symphonic Metal what Metallica is to Metal in general), but you'd probably like some of the other bands in the genre.
Notably, Epica, which is a little heavier most of the time, a bit less "theatrical", but with equally amazing vocals, and better lyrical composition in my opinion.
Rhapsody of Fire, of course. They're the oldest act in the genre that's still performing. You should hear them with Christopher Lee (The actor from Starwars, James Bond, Lord of the Rings, Dracula, etc). Not many people record a metal album in their late 70s, lol. However, everyone has reacted to that already. If you're looking for a better song, try "Triumph for My Magic Steel", the transition from guitar to violin is incredible.
Avantasia is a super-group, and has some of the most amazing guest vocalists. Klause Meine and Geoff Tate to name a couple.
And of course, bands like: Kamelot, Within Temptation, Xandria, Haggard, Therion...
And of course, Ayreon (Arjen Lucassen) seems to be the star they all orbit, lol. Can't go wrong with that. Although Ayreon albums are difficult to review, as they're generally themed and each track is part of a larger story. Based on your reactions, I'd say "The Human Equation" album by Ayreon would probably hit you the hardest, and it's one of the musically more diverse albums. But do yourself a favor and read up on the backstory before you listen.
More like Judas Priest than Metallica, don't forget that they're ancient in the genre.

" Ever Dream " is the sixth single by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish. Released as the first single from the band's fourth studio album, Century Child, it was the group's first single in two years, following " Deep Silent Complete " in 2000.
The song is more operatic in nature than later works and the music itself is more on the heavy metal side. It is still played live since 2002 until today. "Ever Dream" was certified with Gold Disc in Finland two days after its release, with more than 5,000 copies sold, and later received Platinum Disc with more than 10,000 copies sold.
A favorite of mine for sure! It's a true wonder of the world that she was able to belt like that over and over that high, after the key change, and the emotions do rise up in that part too, because it is just overwhelming, to see that level of execution and beauty of voice. Storytime is probably my favorite, followed by this one, both performances from this show. After many reactions and seeing them live, Nemo from this show tears me up for some reason. I could not tell you why, honestly. From the point where Floor does that beautiful fade off of a blet, calls out Empuu, his solo, the girls crowd surfing and the tide to the end - and then you see that sign. I would say the most energizing performance for me....well, there's two. Either "I Want My Tears Back" Live In Buenos Aires 2019 or "The Last Ride of the Day" from Masters of Rock in 2015. Your mileage may vary.
Love this song but personal favorite is the tarja version and if you like marco dead to the world is a nice combo of tarja and marco. All the songs recommended are pretty much from the tarja era anyways so might as well do one with her as the singer haha love the reactions!

If you go for the most energetic one, I'd recommend 7 Days To The Wolves (Wembley), Dark Chest Of Wonders (Wacken) or Weak Fantasy (Tampere).
You definitely have to do the one where she does the metal grout. It’s freaking amazing. She doesn’t perfect. I mean she can do anything. Yours is an empty hope.

Yeah, I love Nightwish but I only listen to their life stuff with floor. Yes, I’m biased and that’s my own personal opinion not seeing anybody else has to agree with me or anything like that.
Its like toumas fixed the songs and made them much better live. Romanticide is a great example, the studio version is kinda weird....
