This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). Great Festival i was at this concert in 2013 being an American i never heard of Nightwish ! We were in the middle of the crowd because Alice Cooper played before Nightwish ! Deep Purple and Ramstein played on day one which was a treat =) "Storytime" was my favorite Nightwish song !

Welcome back to symphonic metal, and welcome to Nightwish. From Finland, they've been around since '96. 3rd and current lead singer , Floor Jansen, is Dutch. She had been with the band only 10 months at this concert, having taken over mid tour. Keyboardist Tuomas Holpainen is the mastermind, writing and composing 90-95% of the music. Emppu Vuorinen on guitar is a founding member as well. Jukka Nevalainen on drums from '97-2014. Marko Hietala on bass from '01-'21, since you asked, he plays Warwick basses. The band's 10th studio album will be released later this year. You're right, those pipes are just decor, in front of 3 Korg keyboards (and a wine bottle holder, lol). They are a tribute to Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, and made to resemble the Sibelius monument in Helsinki. Also correct about Wacken being in Germany, and pronounced (Vah-ken). This song was #13 in a 15 song headlining set (Alice Cooper was on stage just before them). All of them are great. Dave will be listening to more Nightwish, Hope you will be too. 😺. Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora. Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉. Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the setlist in 48h). Amy Lee is a good singer but Floor is in a class of her own - the sustain from her extraordinary next-level breath control is matched by the beautiful tone of her voice and ability to wrench every last drop of emotion from any song's meaning.
When I started watching reaction videos concerning Nightwish there had been a lot of comments "but Amy Lee..." (especially from American comments). I had never heard of her before; therefore I watched videos of her and her band, live and music video. In my opinion Evanescence is a good average band with a good singer, but compared to them Nightwish is thunder and lightning combined with the depth of the ocean.

She can sing anything from growls to Opera and to quote another reactor she can hug you with her voice, kick you down the stairs and then pick you up and hug you and you're ok with that. If you mean 10 months by the "few months", then you are right on the money ;) Floor Jansen joined by replacing the previous singer Anette Olzon in the middle of the bands 2012 Imaginaerum world tour - she had 48 hours to travel from Netherlands to Seattle USA 1st October 2012 Concert and during those hours memorise the Lyrics of the 15 songs in the setlist - and she did it. The Wacken 2013, Germany Festival was on August 3rd 2013 and Nightwish headlined the last day Saturday. In between Nightwish toured Europe, South America, Asia and again in Summer Europe venues, so she had together with Nightwish like little over 40 concerts before Wacken 2013 Festival concert..

When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’. Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’ Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on UA-cam. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered UA-cam in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish. Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of these and other presents she left on her channel. One thing I really love about Nightwish is that it is all about the music; the band members serve the music not their egos. Therefore they walk around when they have nothing to do or sometimes even leave the stage but when their part starts they give 100 %. Each of them is an outstanding artist with great skills but does not pose; when someone has a solo all other members step back and let him/her shine. Watch "The Islander" from the Tampere concert 2015; there Marko stands in front of the stage and plays his guitar; the other band members stayed in the background the whole time and started supporting him in the middle of the song. Floor gives the back vocals for Marko and you can see that all of them are very happy to let Marko shine. He is a great singer, too.

Cant believe you have never come across Nightwish before now as you say you are Symphonic metal fans and are from UK but never mind never too late to start listening and better still watching this superb band as Nightwish is best served live. Hope you both continue to react to them and eventually explore all the other lead vocalists we all have our favourite but in truth all should be listened to, my favourite? ... I'm being diplomatic and choose Marco he is the bass player here in 2013 now sadly not with the band. Hello dear reactors, short info here about Nightwish and me 😊Nightwish is syphonic metal band from Finland. I am also from Finland. I have all Nightwish albums since 1996 and waiting for their 10th studio album this year. I was at their live concert here in Finland, Vaasa city, last June and I tell you...if you ever have a chance seeing them live go! The true master mind of Nightwish is our metal Mozart, our national treasure..Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards). He writes and composes this beautiful music. And I love Jukka's drumming, his style 🥁😎but unfortunately he played until 2015 and had to ask his friend Kai Hahto to continue because Jukka had severe imsomnia and migraine. But I always mention Jukka about drumming, how good he is and with that style. He and drums are one. He clearly enjoys playing those drums 😊Next time when I go seeing Nightwish live I want to meet Tuomas and ask him two questions and comment, concerning music of course. I don't reveal those until I meet him.

Hello Belle and Fynn and from me also a warm welcome to Nightwish! A lot has already been said about this phenomenal band so I like to give you a piece of info from behind the scenes. The pipes around the keyboards are a tribute to the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, as NW is Finnish as you discovered, and resemble his monument in Helsinki, 600 pipes welded together in a flowing way. Nice gesture isn't it? Floor Jansen is married to Hannes van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish band Sabaton. This band is unique in it's kind. Their songs are all about real wartime events through the ages. They do a lot of research for their songs and have their own Sabaton History Channel on YT with a lot of info about their songs. It's very interesting! "No Bullets Fly", the Animated! story/video is a great example. And a tip: If you stop a video use the spacebar and then the left arrow on your keyboard to back the video 5 secs, two taps 10 secs, to let the song flow more. Lifechanging musically, finding Nightwish. 120+songs since 1996, and they do everything from folk, acoustic right through to thrash metal and at an insanely good level. The composer Tuomas on the keys is a genius, known as the Metal Mozart... but you'll see. Floor the singer can go from death metal growls to angelic siren and back again, often in the same song. There is nothing she cannot do. Add to that the bass player Marko has a stunning voice, they have one of the best drummers in metal (now Kai Hahto), he is an absolute monster. Troy who can play any instrument (some songs have flutes, whistles, pipes... a bouzouki, guitars with e-bow etc etc etc). Dive in, Gabriel's list is a good guide - only thing i would say, dont do Poet and the Pendulum or The greatest show on earth for a bit, and do some research on the songs first. You will get 20x more out of them if you do.

In my opinion, they are the best as their music is so accessible, but other bands like Epica, Within Temptation and Sabaton, I am sure will be recommended. Via NW, you will have access to Floor's own solo material, Ayreon and Auri, as well as Tarot, Wintersun and After Forever. You will certainly never need for reaction material. Lead singer Floor Jansen used to coach singers at Amy Lee's level. Not dismissing Amy, but to my ear she's an 8. Floor is the standard by which all others are to be judged. Saw the Band live at the Wiltern theater in LA May 2022. The band is a tight powerful unit live and along with being one of the finest singers in the world , Ms Jansen , has an incredible stage presence. She turned this 72 year old man into a raging fan boy

I`ve watched this and many of their other concerts quite often and still get the shivers. They preformed a concert at Wembley Arena in 2015 that I highly recommend.

The thing with all the pipes is a prop used to hide Tuomas and his keyboard set up. There were 82K in attendance for the 2013 Wacken Open air festival, and most stayed for the Nightwish concert. They got their moneys worth, that's for sure. This was Floor's first performance with the band, and only had 48 hours to learn the set-list and songs lyrics.
GLS @ Wacken 2013 is the gold standard in epicness in symphonic metal and every sub-genre. The stars aligned perfectly, everything fit together as Nightwish's band leader Tuomas Holopainen designed. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Great Festival i was at this concert in 2013 being an American i never heard of Nightwish ! We were in the middle of the crowd because Alice Cooper played before Nightwish ! Deep Purple and Ramstein played on day one which was a treat =) "Storytime" was my favorite Nightwish song !

Welcome back to symphonic metal, and welcome to Nightwish. From Finland, they've been around since '96. 3rd and current lead singer , Floor Jansen, is Dutch. She had been with the band only 10 months at this concert, having taken over mid tour. Keyboardist Tuomas Holpainen is the mastermind, writing and composing 90-95% of the music. Emppu Vuorinen on guitar is a founding member as well. Jukka Nevalainen on drums from '97-2014. Marko Hietala on bass from '01-'21, since you asked, he plays Warwick basses. The band's 10th studio album will be released later this year. You're right, those pipes are just decor, in front of 3 Korg keyboards (and a wine bottle holder, lol). They are a tribute to Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, and made to resemble the Sibelius monument in Helsinki. Also correct about Wacken being in Germany, and pronounced (Vah-ken). This song was #13 in a 15 song headlining set (Alice Cooper was on stage just before them). All of them are great.

Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6).
She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Plus, huge vocal nerd 😉.
Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg, where she graduated in 2003. She studied musical theatre and a year of opera. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon (Second singer of Nightwish after Tarja) as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour (And she had to learn the setlist in 48h). On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.

Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot.
This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken (pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people (one of the largest heavy metal festivals in the world and one of the largest open-air festivals in Germany). The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival.

You have just heard the third and current lead singer, Floor Jansen (pronounced Yansen), our Dutch Valkyrie Goddess who snatched my soul when I first heard her in 2019. If you have any soul at all you will also discover Epica, Ayreon, Sabaton, Blind Guardian, Spiritbox, Unleash the Archers and a whole host of Dutch Metal Godesses! Amy Lee is a good singer but Floor is in a class of her own - the sustain from her extraordinary next-level breath control is matched by the beautiful tone of her voice and ability to wrench every last drop of emotion from any song's meaning.
When I started watching reaction videos concerning Nightwish there had been a lot of comments "but Amy Lee..." (especially from American comments). I had never heard of her before; therefore I watched videos of her and her band, live and music video. In my opinion Evanescence is a good average band with a good singer, but compared to them Nightwish is thunder and lightning combined with the depth of the ocean.

The symphonic background track is recorded by the London Philharmonic orchestra, London's The Metro Voices choir group, London's Young Musicians Children's Choir. The 6th member of the band is the multi-instrumentalist Troy Donockley, he is from Workington Cumbria and amongst other things he plays the Uilleann pipes (Irish elbow pipes), the Irish bouzouki, Irish low Whisles etc etc etc. Floor Jansen is Dutch and had been with the band for 10 months and is their 3rd singer. She can sing anything from growls to Opera and to quote another reactor she can hug you with her voice, kick you down the stairs and then pick you up and hug you and you're ok with that. Massive catalogue of music with her previous bands, her solo work and the Nightwish catalogue. Enjoy the rabbit hole and the side tunnels that will emerge as you delve into the music.

If you mean 10 months by the "few months", then you are right on the money ;) Floor Jansen joined by replacing the previous singer Anette Olzon in the middle of the bands 2012 Imaginaerum world tour - she had 48 hours to travel from Netherlands to Seattle USA 1st October 2012 Concert and during those hours memorise the Lyrics of the 15 songs in the setlist - and she did it. The Wacken 2013, Germany Festival was on August 3rd 2013 and Nightwish headlined the last day Saturday. In between Nightwish toured Europe, South America, Asia and again in Summer Europe venues, so she had together with Nightwish like little over 40 concerts before Wacken 2013 Festival concert..

When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’.
Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera).
'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’.
Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’
Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see.
Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on UA-cam. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered UA-cam in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish.
Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of these and other presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Her latest endeavour is her stunning solo album ‘My Paragon. Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughters Freja (turns 7 years this march) and Lucy (born last october) ,a couple of horses, dogs and cats, she found this.

One thing I really love about Nightwish is that it is all about the music; the band members serve the music not their egos. Therefore they walk around when they have nothing to do or sometimes even leave the stage but when their part starts they give 100 %. Each of them is an outstanding artist with great skills but does not pose; when someone has a solo all other members step back and let him/her shine. Watch "The Islander" from the Tampere concert 2015; there Marko stands in front of the stage and plays his guitar; the other band members stayed in the background the whole time and started supporting him in the middle of the song. Floor gives the back vocals for Marko and you can see that all of them are very happy to let Marko shine. He is a great singer, too.
The keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen writes the music. The band is mainly Finnish and the singer (Floor Jansen) is Dutch!

Hello dear reactors, short info here about Nightwish and me 😊Nightwish is syphonic metal band from Finland. I am also from Finland. I have all Nightwish albums since 1996 and waiting for their 10th studio album this year. I was at their live concert here in Finland, Vaasa city, last June and I tell you...if you ever have a chance seeing them live go! The true master mind of Nightwish is our metal Mozart, our national treasure..Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards). He writes and composes this beautiful music. And I love Jukka's drumming, his style 🥁😎but unfortunately he played until 2015 and had to ask his friend Kai Hahto to continue because Jukka had severe imsomnia and migraine. But I always mention Jukka about drumming, how good he is and with that style. He and drums are one. He clearly enjoys playing those drums 😊Next time when I go seeing Nightwish live I want to meet Tuomas and ask him two questions and comment, concerning music of course. I don't reveal those until I meet him.

Hello Belle and Fynn and from me also a warm welcome to Nightwish! A lot has already been said about this phenomenal band so I like to give you a piece of info from behind the scenes. The pipes around the keyboards are a tribute to the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, as NW is Finnish as you discovered, and resemble his monument in Helsinki, 600 pipes welded together in a flowing way. Nice gesture isn't it? Floor Jansen is married to Hannes van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish band Sabaton. This band is unique in it's kind. Their songs are all about real wartime events through the ages. They do a lot of research for their songs and have their own Sabaton History Channel on YT with a lot of info about their songs. It's very interesting! "No Bullets Fly", the Animated! story/video is a great example. And a tip: If you stop a video use the spacebar and then the left arrow on your keyboard to back the video 5 secs, two taps 10 secs, to let the song flow more. Lifechanging musically, finding Nightwish. 120+songs since 1996, and they do everything from folk, acoustic right through to thrash metal and at an insanely good level. The composer Tuomas on the keys is a genius, known as the Metal Mozart... but you'll see. Floor the singer can go from death metal growls to angelic siren and back again, often in the same song. There is nothing she cannot do. Add to that the bass player Marko has a stunning voice, they have one of the best drummers in metal (now Kai Hahto), he is an absolute monster. Troy who can play any instrument (some songs have flutes, whistles, pipes... a bouzouki, guitars with e-bow etc etc etc). Dive in, Gabriel's list is a good guide - only thing i would say, dont do Poet and the Pendulum or The greatest show on earth for a bit, and do some research on the songs first. You will get 20x more out of them if you do.

In my opinion, they are the best as their music is so accessible, but other bands like Epica, Within Temptation and Sabaton, I am sure will be recommended. Via NW, you will have access to Floor's own solo material, Ayreon and Auri, as well as Tarot, Wintersun and After Forever. You will certainly never need for reaction material. Good one. That show was Floors introduction as the new singer to the European fans. Floor is a 6'1'' Siren/Angel/Valkyrie.
I`ve watched this and many of their other concerts quite often and still get the shivers. They preformed a concert at Wembley Arena in 2015 that I highly recommend.

The thing with all the pipes is a prop used to hide Tuomas and his keyboard set up. There were 82K in attendance for the 2013 Wacken Open air festival, and most stayed for the Nightwish concert. They got their moneys worth, that's for sure. This was Floor's first performance with the band, and only had 48 hours to learn the set-list and songs lyrics.
GLS @ Wacken 2013 is the gold standard in epicness in symphonic metal and every sub-genre. The stars aligned perfectly, everything fit together as Nightwish's band leader Tuomas Holopainen designed. The band played their hearts out, Floor Jansen hit all her notes strong and clean, the crowd was amazing, and a legendary performance was made. 🤘🔥

Un coucou de l'armée NIGHTWISH de France, avec un peu de retard, très très bonne réaction et belle analyse à l'écoute du plus grand groupe du monde pour ma part. Vous venez de faire connaissance du métal symphonique et de notre reine Floor, mais vous n'avez qu'effleuré le dessus de l'iceberg et vous n'êtes qu'a l'entrée du terrier de lapin. Je vous souhaite de bons floorgasmes et continuez vos réactions nous serons toujours derrière vous pour vous soutenir pour notre groupe...... Encore plus d'écoutes s'il vous plait...... Merci. Continuez sur le festival du Wacken Open Air 2013, vous êtes sur de ne pas vous tromper, les quinze chansons du set sont des classiques pour tous les fans du groupe et sont à écouter absolument. Cette chanson est la 11 sur les 15 du set complet , ensuite toujours dans le même concert, faites le Ever Dream qui commence comme une douce ballade voix piano et sur un signe de Marko ( le bassiste ) continue d'accélérer pour finir comme un train à grande vitesse, ensuite je conseille une petite histoire comme Storytime un excellent rock entêtant puis essayez du plus lourd avec Ghost River pour entendre le surprenant mélange des voix de Floor avec Marko ou encore plus lourd avec Romanticide..... My fav song is The Greatest Show on Earth by Nightwish which is a story how the world came together through to today with us being here.
