A battle-scarred suburb of Damascus is providing the backdrop for a nationalistic action film produced by Jackie Chan telling the story of the 2015 efforts of Chinese diplomats to evacuate hundreds of citizens and foreign nationals from Yemen as the country descended into civil war. The film, titled Home Operation, is being shot in war-torn neighbourhoods that are now under the control of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

If you think about it, it's really depressing that a city has been turned to ruble just like in over exaggerated movies.
The destruction in movies like that comes from well studied set designers who will literally look at video and pictures of the past modern wars. Then copy the exact destruction, spacing and amount of obstacle emplacements. Its not that hard. Movies don't always exaggerate, especially when it comes to wounds cause people wouldn't believe you could survive or move. In the movie Glory when they charge Fort Wagner, the 54th Massachusetts, the guy known as Trip is depicted to have died after 3 shots holding up the flag. In reality he took 20 shots and carried the flag into the fort with a white Union soldier offering to carry it, he refused.
On the plus side "hey look, free movie prop!"
@@1truthbegettingtold275 Most of the time it exaggerated or down played as you can't predict how a region would be bombarded.
Like ironman scene too
Putin wants Ruble having prices
I wish only the best to Syria and and its people and I hope for peace and prosperity as they deserve nothing less
Hope the money generated from the movie will be able to help with the economy in Syria..it's a really beautiful country and people are really kind and gentle there

Don't worry
He's Jackie Chan
@yumeno thanks to jackie chan then, everyone caring now…
Why? They literally have no reason nor rights to help Syria.
@yumeno it's more like Jackie Chan give awareness from his movie
So sad a city of longer history than Rome has turned into a war zone filming site. I hope Syrian people can rebuild the glory of the city, working with peace loving people of China. 🇸🇾 🇨🇳 friendship
I hope this movie making will contribute to the reconstruction of Syria and I wish Syrians to have a better life.
'Will''
Lol
Production companies are not non-profit organizations, they are there solely to film their movies to make money.
Your hope will fade away, quickly.... Because assad regime, 1 of the most corrupt family in the world today, beside KjU dynasty, still in there..... Forever, thx from full support of moscow, ccp, iran gangs..... !!! ^^
The movie is called Operation Red Sea. And it is already out. Ive watched it on Netflix. Really cool. A lot of gruesome image such as car bomb exploding on yemeni soliders etc..
Can't wait to watch a new perspective of this tragic war. Jackie will definitely come to visit the set but probably not make it public!
Maybe not jackie but the CCP is there for sure lol
This is a great idea to help turn around a war-torn state. More movie productions should take place here so that the local economy can receive the positive trickle down effect. Not to mention, if any movie from this set gets international views and attentions, the set could become a tourist site, bringing in even more income for the Syrian people.
Sounds great......
Edit : I'm not Syrian, I'm Bangladeshi
Love Syria from Bangladesh.
🇧🇩❤️🇸🇾
My c0ntent is way better
No it isn't a great idea, this film is promoting the Syrian regime, I as a Syrian who was a fan of Jackie chan v disappointed with this
no
The people will never see the money of this movie, common, very few people would be interesed in visir a war torn place, in this case, only a few pro ccp people will do that, and is just tu fill their nationalists ego, this is bad, they are only using a country ruined by war to produce propaganda, is pure evil.
This comment looks like a pro ccp statement and I doubt the likes are frome real people.
I really hope this brings more revenue to Syria. We will rebuild again and cover our wounds just like we have in past since Assyrian times.

I hope the movie turns into a big hit as by doing so it could promote tourism in the area and help the syrian economy somewhat
99% of the money goes to China and the other 1% is the people visiting syria
i dont think anybody would want to come here just to look at rubble, especially considering the current state of the country. By the time everything clears up and it becomes safe they'd be rebuilt.

@@iron4517 New York isn't a bombed out ruinous city.
For years Jackie Chan has spoken of and promoted a message of "peace and love". In movies, on clothing lines, in speeches. I Like that positive outlook.
U can only achieve them if u are financially peaceful first then everything follows. It's sad and unfair but it is the truth.
Making money off a genocide scene, now that's "russian peace"
A rather sad reality, a war torn city and country without the need for any special effects.
I wanna say I'm excited for the new movie but also you have to imagine what those streets used to be
just go to another suburb that wasn't as heavily damaged
I have a bit of Deja Vu here, I feel like seen this event been filmed before... A few digging later
Operation Red Sea (Chinese: 红海行动) is a 2018 Chinese-Hong Kong action war film directed by Dante Lam and starring Zhang Yi, Huang Jingyu, Hai Qing and Du Jiang. The film is loosely based on the evacuation of foreign nationals and almost 600 Chinese citizens from Yemen's southern port of Aden during late March in 2015 Yemeni Civil War.[4]
I knew it
Man I agree except China is only country who never engage with insurgents in urban combat from middle east by using real life Chinese army I mean who know US has realism film like Saving Private Ryan
That is a great news! I hope somebody will offer some initiative to rebuild some houses and I definetely sure it will boost local economy!
Thank you Jackie for bringing attention to Syria
Its just a backdrop to a movie. And the movie has nothing to do with Syria.
Besides him being a shill for the communist party
It has nothing to do with Syria. The movie takes place in Yemen but will be filmed in Syria
@@xuimod it could bring attention as a filming location
@@vangpham2514 Let's be honest, if Hollywood was making a movie in Syria with the backdrop of a ruined city, then people would suddenly remember how scummy this seems.

"Building studios to stimulate areas like this is very expensive"
"Here studio already set to go"
They focking proud of it💀
NATO destroyed it, what's your point?
Why would you need to CGI when you can just take your things to the actual land?
They're very convinced , but actually no need to build studio just using cgi Will do just fine, and cost efficient
They are not proud of it. They simply accept the reality of what the other countries did to theirs. And the ruins, are what the other countries left them of once a city. Make do, or lose all livelihood, it’s no a difficult choice.

I can already see the sequel

Wow. Bonus social credits +2000 points.
What is your problem exactly?
Jackie chans social credit should already be at max tbh
Wow, this is a pioneering action to help a country to start an industry. It is as big a step as Wham organizing a concert in a reforming China once upon a time.
One man's loss is another man's treasure.
Profiting off tragedy while making themselves out to be the heroes and not the Syrians. This is like a parody.
"Profiting tragedy" sounds madness, but syirian also getting profit from this movie making, they would be happy instead
I think you're privileged enough that you don't have a positive outlooks in life.
They hired lots of syrians people so its a win2 and jackie chan always give help to the country that he visits
Sounds like the USA who does it on a daily basis
"The filming company company must share its procceds for Syria recovery foundation." 😁
Very telling that Jackie Chan is only producing the movie and not likely to visit the "set" on location. Also very telling that there is a banner proclaiming "peace and love"! Not to mention how this is another "patriotic" movie about the same evacuation operation.
It's one of those wolf warrior types of film.
Uhh he was there yesterday. and he has housing down the street.
POV: You're looking for an ordinary comment that isn't about random news or facts.
Isn't it kind of insensitive for them to shoot a film about "heroic Chinese diplomats" in a war torn country? Why not help them by making a movie about a Syrian being a hero to uplift the Syrians? That would be so awesome honestly.
Syrians : I didnt eat for 2 days and my whole town is destroyed.
Jackie : Thats sounds perfect for my movie.
Nvm I hope for Syria's well being
Thank you, there are a lot of problems but we are going by day by helping each other and making sure F*A gets wiped out.
You do realised that they're getting paid for shooting movie in Syria right ?
Jackie is also bringing a boat load of money though.
@@Rex-ww4cw That doesn't suddenly make it ethical. If Ben Afleck had a movie in Syria, people would recognize how scummy this looks.
You also have to make a movie about the crimes the United states of America and the white helmet committed in Syria
Average Americans are still brainwashed to think that White Helmets are not terrorist organization. They are affiliated with Al-Nusrah which is affiliated with Al Qaeda.

Any investment in Syria is great.
Hopefully this movie will teach people the horrors of war. Also, its a publicity to the situation in Syria.
So its safe there now, thats also great. People can walk in the broad daylight without fear of getting shot.
I hear southern Syria is now fully control by government only north part still see some fighting especially idlib region
Probably safer than US
North territory still controlled by Turkiye backed rebel and few mercenaries from Saudis.
Is this not dangerous? i mean even if they aren't shooting in Yemen, this place is also not very safe. I'm a big fan of Jakie Chan. He's the only one from China i love n respect the most.
As long as they provide humanitarian assistance to local residents.
And hopefully they give more.
It does not matter.
Although it looks not very ethical, if you make a film there.
Got Jackie to thank for. Bringing opportunities to an otherwise obliterated city. The revenue will be precious lifeline for the locals got hired on the set. Hope Jackie can use his reputation and attract more such cooperations to the country and give them a much needed lift…

So basically it's "Operation Red Sea II".

Awesome
If it were a Hollywood production, the western press would be saying oh the movie is reviving the devastated district, breathing in new life and capital to the residents and filling them with hope to rebuild.
But since it's a Chinese production, the western press is definitely going to say oh the movie is disrespecting the poor traumatised residents, terrifying them with gunfire sound effects and bringing back their fears.
Double Standard.
