Amzing how Richard Carapaz won the race, he only had one teammate for country against the great favorites who had 5, many would say it was luck, but Richard Carapaz is very smart, he has brilliant career reading power and knows how much to attack. Winning gold at the Olympics and being the first Latino to do so is the best thing that can happen to a cyclist.

as of 18th of October in the year of 2024. Pogacar just had arguably the greatest season in cycling history with 25 wins and those 25 wins ain't small races in the calendar.
Just decided to watch this race again and realized, if it was 2024 Pogacar he would just go solo from Mikuni Pass, no one would catch him and put 2mins+ on the chasing group. I couldn't believe how Pogacar isn't that dominant from 2021 compared to 2024 (given 2021 POgacar is already dominant given his wins already specially at the TdF that year).
2024 season from Pogacar is just something else. It would take atleast a couple of decades before someone can replicate it or be even close to it.

@6:25:30 after taking a number of monster pulls Wout looks around asking for help after bringing the gap to 13 seconds. A helping hand or two would bridge the gap entirely.
All the rest is willing to settle for the bronze thus not willing to commit.

Great covereage of the race. I'm disappointed at how the male commentator consistently and continuously speaks over Rochelle Gilmore. What's more is that he continues to mispronounce multiple rider's names...can't even seem to say Tadej Pogacar the same way each time. Primroz Roglic is pronounced differently each time. Big chapeau to Richard Carapaz for the amazing and brave performance!

I watched the whole race. At one point rochelle made a comment live on air and ti was that she cant hear, i forget his name, the other commentator. I think they were physically in two different places and could not see each other. Under those circumstances it is hard to see facial expressions. Usually one commentator does "color" while the other does the race so it is commen that the race commentator speaks over the providor of "color".

Was anyone keeping a record of all the stuff the commentators got wrong? Because they might have set a record of talking for 6 hours straight about a subject they knew next to nothing about.

Rochelle Gilmore did fine. She is a former racer turned team owner/manager who was very successful indeed. It was the other commentator that got a lot of stuff wrong. Such as names. I can understand mispronouncing names. But how do you turn vogelsang into vogelslang? I would struggle on some of those turkmenistan or azerbajiani names.

They certainly sounded bored and disappointed when Carapaz took the leading position from the american and started to leave him behind.

"David Gaudu from Spain", Roberto Urán, Carapaz having won "stage 4 of the 2019 Giro"... I hope it was a joking commentary. Not to mention the many different ways in which they bloodcurdingly murdered the pronunciation of Tadej Pogačar. At least they only had to say "Cosnefroy" once: I was rooting for him to DNF so they wouldn't have to keep saying his name 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Who hires these people?

The male announcer constantly interrupts the female announcer. He also mispronounces many of the rider's names, indicating he knows very little about them. Please get a lead announcer with better etiquette and a broader knowledge of the riders for the 2024 Olympics.
