Can’t beat a good dog. Nice sentiment around burial area and if a man can’t be honest and open about a good dog , leave it so.
we've gap handles on all our reels for strip grazing and we put the current in the reel to stop the cattle knocking it over and ateing it were suckler so cows will be in one strip for a day or 2 so you need the current in the reel and all our boundary fencing is electric we have no sheep wire or barbed wire fencing we've current in everything well that's just what we do I dunno will it help u much
Do enjoy your videos. Thanks for day to day chores. Sorry for loss of your rescue pup. We had black lab X Irish Setter from pound and Scamp lived to be 15 years. Wonderful, wonderful dog. Too bad they don’t live longer.🐕
Followed you from the start and really enjoying your channel. Your farms/ yard and animals are a credit to you. Keep up the good work. From Ballymena in Co. Antrim.
Thank you lad, sure your only up the road, thanks for watching
Happy birthday to your 'better' half, mine is 5 months older thus I refer to myself as her toy boy, good going if I may so myself as we are in our 70s.
Good man fair play to ya's, age is only a number nowadays, your as young as you feel
Hello young man, Great to see you pay respects to your dogs that have passed but I had to skip over most of that but because I lost my dog in 2015 due to Degenerative Myelopathy. Saxon was a 9yrs German Shepherd Dog and that hurt real bad. Had nine GSD's but not allowed a GSD where I live now because my landlord won't give permission for a dog. Anyway, I have to live on without a dog and get my own place again one day. The weather here in North Yorkshire has been really rough, high winds and raining almost every day and all day. All the best!
I understand what you mean, there much more than just a dog. Some things are out of our control unfortunately. Ya the weather is really bad here as its pouring as we speak. There supposed to be turning the sun back on this week coming.
Hi Adrian,
Great video. We have wee headstones over our dogs, where they are buried.just a piece of cut off Marble from local Stonemason with name and dates of birth and death. Lovely to show love and respect for your loyal and best friend. Spread watered slurry last week and done a great job. Great mornings work. Thanks for the tips. Really looking forward to the video on the sprayer as I am soon going to purchase one.🐄
Adrian I noticed that you were bobbing up and down in the cab hard on the back great video 👍🚜
Great video. I agree, if it needs doing get it done in the mornings after lunch it's harder to get motivated. Cheers.
Were very lucky where I'm from in ballymachugh because if we can't sow we can draw a few loads from a selection of piggeries
Adrian, if you put out your reel first, tension it then put up your pigtails you’ll have a near dead straight line 👌🏻 learnt that on placement in NZ
Another good one, True Cavan man alright. Nice tribute to the Dog
Great video Adrian , your enthusiasm for the job is brilliant . Keep up the good work .
Yo Adrian !!!! Great content again fella and nice to see that ye have plenty a grass cover !!! Yes indeed the "watered down" version gets the grass going before ya spread a bag or two and if ya need a cover then CLONMEL COVERS should have one to suit you, google em and see and I think they come in very reasonable....@100/150 euro ….. I think ?????? Happy birthday to the long suffering Mrs and regards the passing of your cherished dog then I only know too well lately......I had to put my pal and companion and never faulting friend to sleep in January..... Benji or Ben as he used to prefer with a deeper tone from me (come here or i'll mangle ya ) will always be with us and I still feel him with me when i'm fishing or driving around the country etc. Pmsl at "The one Bouncy Castle does the whole lot" …..mmmmmm ….. stereotypical Cavan thing ???? Stay safe and best as always.!!!!
You should invest in a cover for that fertiliser spreader Adrian. No problem spreading in the rain then😃
Very expensive i think
We had a collie that looked the exact same as yours, her name was Jilly, our cousins found her in an abandoned building also but couldnt keep her themselves, she even used beep the horn in the jeep when they were bringing in the cows, so one day we came home to a new dog in our porch, she was the sweetest dog ever and wouldnt hurt a fly, she had 7 puppies then and we kept one, she always ate the bare minimum food herself and left the rest for brownie, he weighs about 90kg and no wonder, she got hit by a car then a few years back, wasnt in any pain as she passed straight away. She was just one of those brilliant dogs that no other dog could compare to. Happy birthday to the wife and great video 👍
Great story, yea they don't eat much compared to the lab, they can be quite protective though and would bit if they got a fright
Lad round here calls it wet rain, makes me laugh every time. Same lad says "it's hailing stones",, only in Ireland..
You said it lad, best country in the world
It is a real joy to watch your videos. Good content, good humour and a great insight to how well you work your farm.Being a small dairy farmer myself l can relate to your daily challenges and dilemmas. Keep up the good work 👍
Archie Armour I’m glad you enjoy ur video’s, thanks for the kind words as we appreciate that 👍
top quality video as always! im looking forward to see your farm grazing plan etc, great video!
I am a the biggest dog fan ever sorry for your loss
We have a 6 yr old rough collie. He is a doll. Does have issues with his ears.
This is my third rough collie, they have all live past 15 years old. Never had issue with there ears, but our other chocolate lab does. It’s usually cause by a food allergies our ear mites. Our vet can test for mites to see. Allergies are extremely common
Great videos as always Adrian . Very same here been a damp but very growthy spell of weather . Keep up the good work👍😃💪
Milk in before hot water ,that way you don’t burn the coffee 👍👍👍👍try it
Stu Barry I will try that 2moro I kid u not, thanks for the tip lad 👌
Class video I love the raw content
Your a great farmer and keep up good content
Losing a dog is very hard on a family, thanks for sharing, with our kids we’ve burned two we still take about them most days. The three birthday on one day any mans dream 😆, keep up the great work.
Happy 21st to your wife!
Great video enjoyed this one keep up the great work videos are getting better and better loving them interesting to find out new ideas from fellow farmers like yourself 👍🏻
We tie baler twine to the end of our fence when strip grazing, so we just slip it on to the timber post
Yes but you do know that the current does get through the twine, loads of people do the same
Yeah
Great videos yer making,, especially when there is no music playing 👍
Great video again Jesus your playing with fire with the wife 😂 happy birthday to the Mrs
Nice story about the dog. Gas, ya went back for her an hour after.
Really enjoying the videos nice to see the Massey Ferguson. Keep up the good work 👍
Wondering what that smell is 😬must be blowing this way
Happy birthday 🎂 wife looking younger every day 🎊🎊
Stay safe 👌 👍 👍 👍
Another good one Adrian....keep it up
Great videos, did i spot a tub of bought in milk? surely your not buying milk from the shop when you have a tank full in the dairy.
How do you find the Abbey 1600gal? Are the small wheels a disadvantage with poorer weather conditions in Jan/Feb?
If you were looking for a 1600 gal tanker I would recommend 550 low ground pressure tyres, if you are on the side of a hill they might start sliding though, bigger tyres is always a help in wet weather but tractor tyres with good grip would be better in really wet ground as with the flotation tyres if the ground was very wet and you started sinking then you pretty much have no hope as the soil would build up into a big lump infront of it
Its grand but you have to be careful were you go, recessed wheels would be what i'd go for next time for sure.
@@IFarmWeFarm are use going to need a dribble bar when this rule comes in ?
just curios you have great well maintained pastures and all your livestock get the best care and attention whether they lactating or dry cows or cattle heading for the meat trade but why are using shop bought milk for your coffe
@@PReilly-xl5wk your cows milk milk is probably the cleanest purest greenest milk anywhere in the world why would you need to pasteurise it
I grew up drinking raw milk straight from the tank when i lived at home but my wife didn't like it so we changed over many years ago. I will buy a pasteuriser machine one day and use our own again.
A true cavan man haha, good video
Just wondering if anyone has met eireann app on their phone. What annoys me is the detail they give about the last week, rain, sun, etc...I don't want to know last weeks details, I was here for it, I DO want to know what the weather for the coming wk is going to be like, maybe I'm just getting a bit grumpy in my old age!!! Great videos Adrian, yourself & Gerry the Louth man are model farmers in my opinion.
Philip McVeigh the “ Windy app” and YR app are more accurate, giving a drier week so fare with less wind and better temperatures.
Many going through the parlour now
Well bai, I am thinking of setting up my own dairy herd. I was just wondering how many cows are you milking on how many acres and if it gets you by comfortably. Mind me if I’m being nosy I don’t mean any harm.
Farming is one delema to another. When you think it is going to go plan it's farming. Happy birthday mama I farm have a good day don't blame the dog 😂😂😂all the best
Get an extension & cover/canopy for your fertiliser spreader, you can spread in all weather then. I got one for my Rauch spreader a few years ago, great investment.
The quite expensive though, i'll wait till i'm changing the sower and get one fitted on the next.
@@IFarmWeFarm
What make are you thinking of Adrian? I'm thinking of changing my spreader in a couple of years also. I think I might go for Amazon or Sulky. They are the two nearest dealerships to me. Love the videos, I love farming & country life & learn alot from your videos. 👍
George Kenny that Amazon is a good sower but the spilt bin at the bottom is a pain, I have to get out each time to evening out the supply on both sides by hand. It’s also doesn’t empty clean enough and with the price of fertiliser it should be on the field and not washed out on the yard. I won’t be going for another, probably a Rauch or similar
@@IFarmWeFarm
Good to know thanks Adrian, maybe they have addressed that in their latest models. God bless from the sunny & windy South East of Ireland, county Kilkenny.
Great video Adrian any word on the live feed 👍
Yip its coming, were getting new broadband installed on Wednesday which should give us the green light. Need fast reliable speed to live stream properly
Love the videos can't wait to see thd Abbey sparyer. I had a lovely sheep dog got killed 9 year ago.
Love the videos trying to get into farming myself but it will be in the future hopefully
cant beat an early start was always told ONE HOUR IN THE MORNING IS WORTH TWO IN THE AFTERNOON great vid you very tidy farmer take me hat off to you PETE NORTH WALES
Peter Lewis cheers lad, couldn’t agree more 👍
@@IFarmWeFarm thanks for the lad bit im bloody 65 years old in a few weeks
Peter Lewis sure ur only a youngster, my dads 88 in a couple of weeks and still flying about, age is only a number 👍👍
@@IFarmWeFarm good on him and wish the gentleman many more
All enjoyed
On the strip grazing I use a gatehandle with the wire tied round the plastic (handle with care) toy boy that's the end of the jammy scones 😂
You need a quad and a small sower for everyday use and run it into the shed
Kieran Rafferty we have a quad but not the sower, never really bothered me not having one, there handy though
@@IFarmWeFarm If you got used to a half ton quad sower you couldnt do without it especially in damp spring weather
We collect alot of farm machinery with our truck for alan king agri sales and cork farm machinery
Nice one Adrian 👍🏻 I know it’s probably impossible to justify but would ye ever consider a second hand robotic milking machine in the future ? You wouldn’t know yourself ⏰ 🕰
Cheers lad, i've always considered them for the further but i can justify that expense just yet, they come down in price as time goes by. There yearly service charges are quite high.
I service my own machine myself every year for a fraction of what a service man would charge. Hard to beat that
Great video as always Adrain
Tidy yard you have there sir
Great video Adrian 👍
Can I recommend doxtar for those fields with docens in them on my farm we rotate are spraying one year we do grazing and the next silage ground and vice versa just a tip
U could use a gate handle
Another interesting video aidrian
Great vid..really like the channel
Jay lad she has you spoiled jam and scones. Posh lol😂😂👍👍
Ure vids Are just so good
Do you ever pre mow paddocks with the mower and let the cows in to eat it then leaves nice even cover after
We do surely, its a great job if done correctly
Your lucky to have the slurry
nice video adrian
Maybe I’m wrong but it sounded like you were using the foot throttle on and off with the disc mower ?
Daire O'Reilly no always the hand throttle, what your hearing probably is the rev’s drop as I lift the mower up and down on the spool valve
Yea maybe that’s it I was gonna say 😅 the constant rev is the best thing for the mower
How much cows are you milking and great vid
U wanna put pto buttons on that 64 very handy
There already there, i don't always use them
Adrian does your dogs not roll in cow dung we have a westy and at least 1 or twice a week it rolls in dung
Hutson is very clean but bailey is just a disgrace :) has the back door of our house destroyed
@@IFarmWeFarm 😂😂 are one has just been banned from the yard now it would go out white and come in brown
Best one yet
one bouncy castle does the whole lot. Class .🤣
Mike Mclaughlin have you seen the price of bouncing castles???? 🤣🤣🤣
We always used to use forfront but lag year we bought Hyflux and there is not one dock left in the feild
I've heard it's quite good, did it affect growth though?
It never affected it abit funny enough only helped it
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
What way does ur gearstick work in the Massey
Alan Hill it dyna 6 on a T-Bar
Hi ladd I was just wondering I’m looking to start my own farm when I’m older and I was wondering did u start yourself or was it passed down to u great video
Anthony Rashers passed down but I built all the sheds, and bought all the machinery afterwards.
Have you ever, considered a robot. Your will remember the football match’s, no the cows you milked in 30yr time , great video 👍
I remember cows from 30 years ago. Always remember the good ones.
Thanks lad. Yes i have considered them for the further but can't justify there current price at the minute
Will the cow ,pick your nurse home ,No. 😂
They'll pay for it though. I'd say my family would just throw me in the first nursing home they could find anyway. Better to go out with a big bang I think. 🤣
Yes, go out with a Big Bang.. milk cows. What a way to go😜😜😜
Hi u should use Doxstar
Some set up
does that improve it
Milk in before hot water adrian you'll thank me,like hot water burns coffee
miss my black lab , he was 15 and get lely to Sponsor the vids , they might give a free lely astronaut robot milker
Yea Hutson is my boy, were joined to the hip. Free robot from lely??? if only!!!
you should get a lely robot to increse family time!! lol
Brian McCaffrey love one, any listening out there 😉
the dog it all happens for a reason ours passed last year but it were ment to be with your dog like ours
👍👍👍
Does the reel not come with a nice plastic handle on it from the shop? I've never seen one without
That one has a plastic handle so i don't get shocked when hooking it onto the fence
Good video I seen your shed that the case is in our shed that our Baler was in fell down this week and we were going to build one the same as yours what size is yours ?
Fionn Devlin is that the shed with the abbey sprayer in it or the calving pens?
IFarm WeFarm ye the abbey sprayer
First
you should get a hydraulic top link
Gerard Healy have 4 of them, top link is much better for mowing
What do you use for editing plus sorry for the loss of your dog
where in cavan are ya?
Where are u based
Cavan
I'm looking for a cottage to rent long term 👍
@@lukehickey7453 will do Prk🖕
@@robertmckee5895 why are you being so agresive I was only trying to help you out
Why would you sow if you have already slurried?
Mike Mclaughlin slurry nitrate level drop dramatically in tanks this time of year, needs the bag if you want a strong growth
What part of Cavan you from
You buy milk?
Adrain wat dogs do u have for hunting
None at the minute as we use the clubs dogs for most of our rough shoots. But if i was to get one it would be a german pointer or springer
We have 2 dogs I’ll send a pic on instagram
hard when you lose a good dog, reason I never got another
Are you in a dairy discussion group?
I was years ago but just couldn't get the time with the farm and school runs etc, they were great at a time but seem to be fading out this last while in this area
