I would try it. They have certainly been a game changer for me. I do sets and reps and perform static holds when I am going for a rep personal record or a maximum attempt. A static hold is when you set the bar above your head and press and hold a weight ten pounds heavier than your working weight for ten seconds.

If you’re going to do triceps, consider incorporating the JM press. It’s a great exercise that you could use as a warm up to your close grip bench.
They are an exercise I will be using periodically.
