Brings back so many fond memories of watching Eurovision with my Nan in the 70’s and 80’s as she would get her radio times that would have a list of participants so you could score yourself. Miss those happy times

Should of won in 1992 his career has flourished in music radio and tv one of uk.s best singers and favourites on tour even having a no1 album in 2017 with Alfie boe and own show on radio 2 still should have won with this killer tune well done Michael
I was a student doing a year abroad in London when this came about. We had no idea what the Eurovision song contest was, so it was all kind of fascinating. I loved how the country got behind this song and it was #1 on the charts going into the contest. A fun memory!

This was UK Entry for the 1992, Eurovision Song Contest which was held in
Sweden & won by Ireland, our song finished in 2nd position,
it recieved maximum points from Austria, Denmark, Germany & Belguim.
I voted for this then a could not believe it did not won greetings from denmark

You got more than 40 countries taking part every year, and and each country have its own 5-person jury and viewers taking part as televoters. How would you think the over-all results reflect anything political, and in what context?
If you're gonna mention Brexit, the EBU has more member-broadcasters in Europe than there are member-countries in the EU so you can't pin the UK's recent bad results on that. As if Britain is special enough to be seen as a badly performing country in the contest, countries like Spain and Germany are not also doing well either.

He has a really good show on BBC Radio 2 nowadays and still does a lot of theatre work. Refuses to say much about Eurovision though. It's a good enough song but was a bit dated even for 1992. Still probably the best from that year though - 1992 was very weak!

He sang and performed everyone else off the stage that night.... should Won.... bit in a way did.... just look at the career he has had and he be a "Sir" in the next few years... you see!!!!!
We need more performances like this these days to get us back at the top. I can't believe that this lost to "Why Me" by Linda Martin, , she sounded as flat as a pancake and not a particularly hard song to sing anyway. He went on to have many more hits and she is still doing the round's lip synching to her song.

We probably weren’t the only family in the UK screaming “Yeah, why her?” when Ireland won. I’m sure she’s a lovely lady and all respect to Ireland and Johnny, but Michael’s song was just superior. Check me referring to them all as if I know them! I don’t, obviously 🤭

Ireland went on to win in 93 (UK second again), 94 and 96. Mind you, Sweden’s catching up!

Amazing singer, average song. He would have won with the song that came second in Song For europe ' As Dreams go by' beautiful song, later covered by many international singers.

Back in the day this was the winner this should have won the Eurovision song contest Michael Ball went on to be an amazing song singer songwriter performer and is still has number one albums now in the year 2019 fantastic performance when the UK really did something at Eurovision one step at a time
He had been highly sucessful before this as well. It was at the time the UK's bigger names didn't turn their noses up at the contest as they do now.

There isn't always justice in Eurovision - not for the UK at least! Like in 1989 with Why do I always get it wrong, beaten by a corney Yugoslav song 'Rock me baby'!

I don't think this deserved second place, but this was still MILES better than Ireland. Still, Malta, Italy and France should have done better.
