Yeah kurts videos and work. Is very decent and high standard. Much better than other plasterers on UA-cam. There another good plaster. Irish guy called macs plastering. His works lovely aswell. And he can use a trowel well. I’ve been spreading for nearly 18 years now. And kurts work is very good. The others on UA-cam are more general builders
Loved every minute of that, cheers fella. Started a 5 year apprenticeship in 1975 and went self employed in 1980. Turned 65 last Monday and still plastering. Mix my own stuff and wash the gear out. Watching you plastering was like watching a video of myself, absolutely uncanny. I'm guessing you were taught by someone that would be considered "old school"? Fantastic video Kirk, and it will definitely help me loads when I attempt to help plaster one of my daughters (and son-in-law’s) newly acquired bungalow. Kirk, I've always said your channel is going to be the best plastering channel on UA-cam. I was right! There are so many good tips and close up of techniques. I'm an expert armchair plaster thanks to you. 😅
Its only the best because he's fooling people into thinking they can do their own plastering and now its costing them more to get a real plasterer in to cover their mess🤣🤣

Hi Kirk hope your well buddy love your videos very informative love your methods 👌🏻where bouts did you get your brush from Im looking for a decent one ?
A question for you. I have a wall with a stain that comes through paint work. If I dot and dab would you think the stain will go through. It could be soot coming through as a chimney breast is behind the wall
I only use board finish aswell. It trowels up nicer. What’s the reason you use it. No other plasterers use it that I know. It’s so much better than multi
Could you talk a little bit more about what you said about a minute into this video about plastering cavity and solid walls and gypsum based products. Knowledge is key to success.
A question when you do first wet trowel with the brush and water, flick water or brush water on, does the brush mark into the plaster a bit? Im looking at timing?
Kirk what’s the technique to “rolling” the trowel, I’m ok when applying the plaster but occasionally the trowel sticks with the flattening stage on 2nd and tries tearing the plaster off any tips?
You should grease all your tapes before you lay on I’m great believer on but ceiling on first so you have hard angles to work to always skim altered wall better job plastering 40 years time served 👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
This is probably a dumb question but why 2 coats ? i've done a bit of D.I.Y and one worked ok i am not a plasterer but wouldn't it be time saving to apply a thicker coat and do one instead of two? But awesome plastering new subscriber here.
by the time your second coat is on the hard work is done, the second coat flattens and fills any rough bits from first coat,if u put it on too thick one coat your just pushing to much stuff around the surface, the second coat closes it all in nicer ready for a going over with just trowel
Doesn't drop any plaster 8:28 ... literally dropped some at 2:30 and got some on the wall 2 secs later 😂☺☺ then at 9:02. I take it was a joke. In all seriousness though, looks like you're a perfectionist in what you do and that's awesome!
Love your tips . The edge thing just don't overload trowel before applying the edge . I have tried your approach just goes against my technique I get it just don't overload your edges and truely it's a worthy point to point out and your style looks tidy not complaining . Just have taught few now and I find how this game of plastering goes its more about developing others and their approach rather than saying one-way is the way. guess I have become jaded and developed my own way but I wouldn't be so brave to say it is the way u know 👍 top videos everytime big respect for you. Absolutely no offence intended quite the opposite 👍
Im an old plasterer, having started my career in the early 50s. While much of the material being used today differs from my day, the technique as for applying it has not. However, we would have a scaffold built for the entire room when doing the ceilings. And the mortar would be placed on a large mortar board on the scaffold. Getting up and down for each hawkfull of material makes no sense at all to me. We would do the entire ceiling and part way down the walls from the scaffold. And the finishing was done from the scaffold as well. After the finishing was complete the scaffold would be moved to a different room by a helper. This person is simply using a bench for the entire process. We had those as well, and used them in places like closets and narrow hallways.
