You guys have no idea how this video made my day! I was 15 when Siamese Dream came out and it absolutely changed my life. I am still obsessed with this album and band. I totally agree with you that Cherub Rock is the perfect opener and Luna is the perfect finish. I have read lately some people dissing Luna and I was like What are you talking about, it’s the perfect ending! I totally agree that Quiet is my least favourite song on the album. I am a little surprised that you didn’t like Soma as much. It is tied for my number one favourite song of all time along with Mayonaise. I can never decide which one I like more. And Hummer! I really liked it way back then but somehow in the last 10 years it hits me differently and holy crap, I love it so much. Have you watched the music video for Rocket! You have to! I also give this album a 9.9, it would be a perfect 10 if they replaced Drown with Quiet. My favourite album of all time ever. Thank you so much!
12:50 I see you little dude!! I had that same internal reflection the first time I heard that song. I too had to look around to see if anyone else was feeling what i was feeling. The greatest feeling ever! (no pun intended with this song haha) The look on his face when the dude said "this reminds me of Linkin Park" was pure gold. HAhahahahaha
Some cool kids that still get the vibes of one of the greatest albums of all time? Got this old mans sub....keep at it guys...looking forward to your journey...💯
I was 15 when Siamese dream came out, so it's great to be sitting here 32 years later watching a new generation of kids get the same enjoyment from it. Soma remains one of my favourite tracks ever. You guys should check out SuperUnknown by Soundgarden - along with Siamese Dream, Nevermind by Nirvana and Ten by Pearl Jam (amongst others), it's one of those absolutely standout 90s grunge era albums that remains iconic. Keep up the good work on the channel! p.s. great to see an O'Neill's top on the channel
I was born in the early 80s. I’m one of those weirdly placed xennials, if you will. I remember sneaking into my twin brother’s room & stealing this album (in CD form) when I was about 10 years old, bringing it into my room & listening to the entire thing, on my boom box, with headphones. The album had just been released. It changed my life. Still one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time & that is saying a lot. I cried watching Alan’s reaction to Disarm. I feel you, my dude. I feel you. It’s like that. I adore watching younger generations taking in the music of my youth. Being a young person through 90s was such an honor. Our generation’s music was some of the best ever created “no cap” as the kiddos say 😅🤣🥰 Much love ❤
"Disarm" was written by Billy Corgan about his childhood. He was abused and neglected as a child. The lyrics hit really hard. Three songs make my cry every time I listen to them. "Disarm" by Smashing Pumpkins, "One More Light" by Linkin Park and "Nutshell" by Alice in Chains. All 3 hit really hard. So happy to see young people enjoying music I grew up listening to.
Totally agree... I cried the first time listening to this song. it actually warms my heart to see kids not terminally scrolling and being degenerates. There are so many more albums that you can still explore that will blow your mind. a lot of albums have changed the way i think, the way i feel.
This album will only sound better the older you get. Every passing year, you live more of life's experiences...connect deeper to the songs. You realize how masterful all the musicianship is on every track. For me, the first 9 songs are all 10/10. The rest are at least 8.5 and above. Truly one of the top 5 best albums I've ever heard... my opinion hasn't changed at 30 years old. I'm happy to see people getting into their music all these years later! You guys are onto something about the vibe of the album - it's VERY heavy, but so dreamlike and kind of psychedelic at the same time. Very unique and otherworldly.
Great vid and cool to see the new generation go down the path of discovering some amazing music! I came of age in the late 90s/early 2000s so if you're looking for some recs around that time of some amazing albums I'd suggest Third Eye Blind's self-titled (one of the best lyrical albums ever IMO), Aenima by Tool, Through Being Cool by Saves The Day for some great pop-punk, and Transatlanticism by Death Cab For Cutie.
I'm 46 years old,I've seen the Pumpkins 11 times. My favorite song by them ever is Soma. And I've never seen them perform it live. But they are always awesome live.
48 yrs old. Siamese Dream was the first CD I ever bought. I was probably 16 . Back when CDS were a thing. Before that it was cassettes. This is one of the iconic albums of the 90's. Glad to see you enjoying it.
Alright, you little bros just made my entire day! I was somewhere around your ages when Siamese Dream first came out, and it means so much to me. Glad you all enjoyed it! And I can’t wait for you to check out the rest of Mellon Collie and even more of their great stuff.
This was one of the first albums I got on CD as a teen. I talked my mother into buying it for me, she only would if I told her I'd heard ALL the songs on the CD and knew I liked them all, because for most of my life I'd just listened to oldies, country, and 80's rock like Bon Jovi, so she wasn't familiar and was worried I'd find it not my thing. I'd only heard 1 single, but I lied my little ass off to her. We listened to it together in the car on the ride home- using a CD player that had a fake cassette plug in to fit into the car's cassette deck. She wound up loving it too and I never had to justify a music purchase of grunge or other genres again to her. Good memory brought back by watching y'all, I was probably just a little older than you are now, though I'm bad at judging ages and remembering what years stuff happened now LOL
These guys remind me of my boys. Its good to be young. Its making me miss my boys. Keep doing this, boys. You are making memories even if the channel doesn't get big. Cheers;)
This was such a great time in music. So much great music across many genres was being released back then. There is a treasure trove of music from the 90’s for you guys to discover. Dig deep into it and enjoy your journey.
I'm so glad I grew up with actual music like this. I'm mostly over the 90's but there are a few bands I still listen to and the Pumpkins are one of them. Glad that young kids are discovering this music as well. I feel sorry for kids and what is being fed to them as music these days.
I have probably listened every pumpkin song ever released, and the band was/is such a crucial part of my youth and early adulthood. I completely realize that vocals of Billy Corgan split people immediately, you either love or hate it xD Anyway, it is the most influential "out of the mainstream" band ever.
It's awesome, watching you guys listening to Siamese Dream that I grew up with from my generation back in the 90s I was 13 years old when Siamese Dream came out in the year 1993 my teenage memories from 90s when it actually happened
Today and Disarm hit the biggest nostalgia bone of growing up in my neighborhood as a kid in our family home. They make me tear up all the time. All these years and still some of my favorite songs ever.
Oh SP… I owned all their CDs back in the day in a huge binder along with all of Billy Joel’s CDs, and others, but the binder and all the CDs were destroyed in a flooding incident. Luckily I still have my “The Aeroplane Flies High” box set. Probably one of the coolest-looking box sets ever produced.
also, this is from an interview with billy corgan about spaceboy. 6. Corgan penned “Spaceboy” about his younger brother, Jesse Andersen. Corgan’s brother Jesse was born with mild cerebral palsy and Tourette’s syndrome, among other ailments. “The best way I explain it is that he’s like a Rain Man type of character,” Corgan told The Huffington Post of Jesse in 2012. “He’s got certain things probably greater than someone else and he’s lacking in a few things that most of us just take for granted. . . . He was raised to be a normal boy, but, of course, not everyone in the world sees him as a normal boy. Hence my song ‘Spaceboy,’ on Siamese Dream, because here’s this kind of kid who comes from some other planet and he’s had to figure it out for himself as he’s gotten to be a man."
Guys I really enjoyed the video! I love your authenticity, that’s what a lot of reactions of UA-cam are lacking! Enjoy all these first listens, I’m a bit jealous especially with Siamese Dream, it definitely changed everything for me back when I heard it the first time. It’s a masterpiece! I saw them live this year and they played mayonnaise which is one of my favorites ! My suggestion: since Butch Vic was mentioned you should definitely listen to the debut from his band „Garbage“
Mellon Collie album is the next natural progression after Siamese. Those two albums are always in the conversation as some of the best that came out of the 90s
Siamese Dream is one of the GOATs. Landmark LP. Industry had trouble putting Smashing Pumpkins in a genre. Big plus in my book. Soma and Hummer are secret weapons. Great reaction. While you're at it. Put Tool in the mix. The Ænema LP is kinda like Radiohead, but on a different level. And HEAVY.
Siamese Dream is a very autobiographical album about Billy Corgan's childhood and young adulthood. Disarm, in particular, deals with the heavy topic of the physical abuse he suffered as a young child from his father and especially his grandmother. His only defence being to smile at them. An incredibly sad song.
This is fun. Wish I could go back to my first listen. Only feedback for you guys is to fix whatever is cutting the music in and out. Would be much more fun to jam along with you without all the skipping.
Cherub rock Who wants honey, as long as there’s some money?” This suggests the idea that people will compromise their values for financial success or approval. • “Let me out” A cry for freedom from societal and industry pressures. Ultimately, “Cherub Rock” is a statement of defiance, showcasing Corgan’s complex relationship with both indie and mainstream music cultures. It reflects his desire to transcend labels and focus on the purity of creating art.
Now young dudes, as a fan of SP for 32 years I would recommend you not fail to listen to the following albums as well: Gish, Pisces Iscariot (b-side album), Mellon-Collie & the Infinite Sadness as well as The Aeroplane Flies High box set. Some other bands you might enjoy are Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots. You might consider listening to some Jimi Hendrix, Boston, Rush and Pink Floyd as well. ENJOY!
40:28 I have no idea what "crispy" means in this context. But I assume it's a good thing? And now, I'm a little curious about what these guys would think of NIN's Downward Spiral.
Me too! Definitely crispy. The summer of 94 for me was the end of 8th grade, and the beginning of a total love affair with these albums. Downward Spiral would definitely be my next recommendation, too. Maybe some Deftones or STP.
I think I was 13 when this came out. Siamese Dream and Nirvana's In Utero were my first CDs ever! Your reactions were great guys. This made me super happy. Definitely go with Tool's Lateralus. It somehow gives me hope that young lads still can be hit by simple things like good music and expressing it genuinely
The little brother needs to be on here permanently. He brought me so much joy.
This is why later in life the "Littler Brother" is the one to always show cool new music to his older brothers.
12:50 I see you little dude!! I had that same internal reflection the first time I heard that song. I too had to look around to see if anyone else was feeling what i was feeling. The greatest feeling ever! (no pun intended with this song haha)

A whole album listening... its how i listened to it with my friends when it came out in 95 or whenever i got it. I love that you guys are doing this.
I'm glad that the young lads actually get to experience great music, because it's almost impossible to find these days in terms of Rock.
@@PhotonJon he might!

Soma is my personal favorite SP song. The loud/quiet is unmatched anywhere in rock
great great song, mayonaise is similar in structure (loud/quiet). mayonaise is my fave from the album, bit soma comes very close.
Soma Hummer Starla...
You might like the band Swans.
...didn't want to lose you once again...
The Kids Are Gonna Be Alright!

You take me back to my 20s. Keep doing!
🙌✨Cheers from the Pumpkin patch kids (aka Chicago)- nice energy and so great to see kids your age really listening. 🎶
Back in 1994 listening to Siamese dream , skating with my best friend! Keep it cool guys , so pleased to see teenagers discovering this masterpiece!
also, this is from an interview with billy corgan about spaceboy.

My favorite album when i was 13. Thanks for reminding me why i love Siamese Dreame
The first album I learned every guitar part for. Felt like a stud.
Guys I really enjoyed the video! I love your authenticity, that’s what a lot of reactions of UA-cam are lacking! Really heartwarming to see you guys listening to this, if you need any suggestion, lemme know!
'Disarm' is one of the best songs of the 90's. 1979 from Mellon Collie is another one.
Ya'll are awesome lol. So cool to see this album being appreciated still
Mellon Collie album is the next natural progression after Siamese. Those two albums are always in the conversation as some of the best that came out of the 90s
SD brought me to Gish 1st.
I felt the same way about Disarm the first time I heard it, lol. You guys are the shit
Soma is my fav . Best solo ever bro!!!!
10/10 - perfect album
So happy y’all enjoyed it you should listen to smashing pumpkins Gish album
I still vividly remember hearing this record for the first time my dudes. Do Mellon Collie next. Gish is very worthy as well
Siamese Dream is one of the GOATs.
And HEAVY.
No , grow the hair longer, there’s no better feeling than headbanging with long hair to great music , long live the brotherhood of the long hair
little brother pissing omg
add little bro to the team, make it all four of you
Siamese Dream is a very autobiographical album about Billy Corgan's childhood and young adulthood. Disarm, in particular, deals with the heavy topic of the physical abuse he suffered as a young child from his father and especially his grandmother. His only defence being to smile at them. Just love it when a new generation discover the mighty Smashing Pumpkins you need to go back to thier debut album Gish
This is fun. Wish I could go back to my first listen. Only feedback for you guys is to fix whatever is cutting the music in and out. Would be much more fun to jam along with you without all the skipping.
Soma's a 10er boys. Great reaction!
Spaceboy was a song dedicated to Billy's brother Jesse who has cerebral palsy.
Cherub rock

I also thought it was "Greek USA" for a long time, thats funny 😁
Your minds will be blown after you listen to Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness
For me, the best album ever made!
Silverfuck is like their live spectacle song, you should react to it live at the metro in the 90s
Hahaha this is amazing!
ENJOY!
The next album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is even better and made Smashing Pumpkins one of the best bands of the 90’s
40:28 I have no idea what "crispy" means in this context. But I assume it's a good thing? And now, I'm a little curious about what these guys would think of NIN's Downward Spiral.
Tight, fresh, like a new dollar bill. Clean and crispy.
It isn't a new piece of slang but it was never a common one.
It's metal but it's as solid as this and there's a lot of depth to it. And someone mentioned King Crimson's In the Court of the Crimson King, you'd probably like it. It honestly started prog rock.
And if you keep this up, you all need to go back to Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. Essentials!!
