- Actually, not every damage in #LCD screen requires screen replacement.
There are repairable damage categories, and there are the irreparable ones.
For example, a broken LCD screen cannot be repaired. This kind of damage requires us to replace the LCD screen because obviously we cannot fix a broken glass screen.
For horizontal lines damage such as this, we still have hope to restore the image back to normal.
I myself tried it twice before I finally succeeded in turning on this LG TV back to normal.
As you can see for yourselves, only by using scotch tape, we can repair the TV with striped screen damage back to normal.
This method has been proven by many people who follow my UA-cam channel. You can try and prove it for yourselves. - Навчання та стиль

Can vouch for this. My TV showed this problem in the afternoon, and tried this in the evening. Typing this as soon as my TV started working back.
The thing to understand here is that only a very small segment must be getting duplicated, so it's wise to start with a thin strip of cellophane tape. Start at the edges, and keep checking after applying each strip. It's more of a trial and error procedure, keep patience, and keep taping different areas and looking for the result, until it works.

My monitor started with flickering lines like a month ago and i was going to buy a new one until a saw this video. I put tape carefully in the ribbon cable as you show in the video and it just worked like a charm.

This really worked. It was a lot of trial an error. But I finally got a good result on a LG tv covering pin 7 to 13 on the first connector.
Sometimes I got lines on all screen which affected the coloring of the whole screen. Other times I lost one or another color. Also on my first working try got some flickering.
At the end by covering only those pins, I got no lines and yellow tint on the left side of the screen. It's barely noticeable.

The authorized LG servicing agent told me to change the display. Followed this video and the issue was fixed. The trick is to find the exact spot on the strip...took me couple of tries before hitting the right spot. Thank you.

Very nicely explained. I don't know does it work same with monitors, I have msi 24 out of nowhere there's horizontal lines everywhere and also a black spot in the lower end of display.

I cannot believe this actually worked! Mine had those disappearing lines like the one showed, an LG too. I have tried like baking the tcon and main board and didnt work, thinking a piece of scotch tape could and had saved it!

I have the same exact problem with my LG smart TV but i'm afraid to do stuff like this like it could turn out worse.
EDIT: It worked! I was so shocked it actually worked. Thank you so much but there were little lines that are a bit visible but pretty much unnoticeable and a slight discoloration on the right side of the screen though it doesn't matter really because it is very watchable now.
I know your comment is old and you probably replaced the TV by now but if you're curious why you saw faded lines (actually discoloration) on the other side, it is because you stopped the clock signals to that side of the display and now the display is only being generated from one side and the signal isn't strong enough to reach other side without loss. That is why there are two cables to generate same signal for both the sides. This solution isn't a fix but a workaround.
Disabling power source for one of two sides rows drivers.

I have a Samsung UN55NU8000 which is in an endless on/off loop (no image, just welcome sound and panel lights on/off) since plugged to power. Apparently main & power board are ok. Could be the ribbon cable? Or led panel gone bad?

does this method apply with monitor? I owned a vz249h asus. and has a horizontal line fading every 4 sec.

Hello so my cousin gave me a 55in LG smart tv brand new but it has a problem. I noticed that the upper half of the screen looks normal but the bottom half of the screen has more light than normal I've adjusted all picture controls but the result is the same. I do see horizontal lines as well so I will try this method but if it doesn't work what do you suggest? Thank you in advance.

i had a problem with my kdl-60nx810 sony I couldnt determine weather the tcon or the mainboard is the problem. i tried removing the cable that goes to the mainboard and the tcon still has the supply then I turned it on, then the screen turns to like color mode testing which displays color such as red green blue and gray and some shadowing. now I'm confused which one to change the mainboard or the tcon.
II install a mother board from a 55”tv in a 50” and I have left and right side of screen playing the say Video image on or show.. does the down size have to do with anything?
Was gonna throw my LG tv out seeing this has changed my mind will give it a go.
