I saw a documentary on her on another channel that had interviews with law enforcement… never heard them call men names but they referred to her as a b*tch and it made me so angry. Why is she unworthy of any respect but they don’t disrespect male offenders? This woman literally had no chance

This is one person I've always felt conflicted over, she was treated appallingly by everyone around her, someone should have saved her as a child. She was then executed when she was clearly mentally ill, everyone failed her. But then I had a horrific childhood too and would never harm another living being, the difference is I found love and happiness as a teenager and was nurtured by my partners family and I'm still in the relationship now.

@@mblack422 totally agree, shes the only person thats committed a serious crime that I wished someone would have helped her, shielded her from harm and told her you're going to be OK. I seem to have so much empathy for her. But I bet there area many people who would have taken different paths in life if they had someone to care about them. Even now I still find it hard knowing through my whole childhood I was totally unloved and no one cared about me,it has effected my social skills but as I said luckily I did meet someone who provided me love and support and we've been together 21 years.

This is probably the only case of a serial killer that I'm very conflicted about. All the odds were against this woman from the start. I honestly can't imagine how she made it through just her childhood.

But why don't we feel sorry for someone like Jeffery Dahmer?... Dahmer was deeply troubled as a teenager: he was struggling with his sexuality, plagued by thoughts of sex, violence & torture, going to school drinking Every day, and neither his parents nor his teachers did Anything about it, then, he was abandoned by Both his parents as they separated...
I like Aileen, but I also feel like she gets a pass for her behaviour because she's a Woman, so it's much easier for people to perceive her as a victim than a man, like Dahmer. They both did Awful things in the end, but were neglected originally, so why does Aileen get a pass, and Dahmer doesn't?...

@@NiceButBites Yes, Dahmer had issues due to parental neglect & eventual abandonment but he was not seriously sexually abused from very young in childhood, he was not beaten, he was not literally thrown out to live rough as a young teenager. He was also not very mentally ill. He clearly wasn't like most of us but he was not tortured by his own mental illness. None of this is an excuse for her, I just believe that comparing her & Dahmer is pointless, they had very different starts in life.

@@NiceButBites Also the crimes they committed were on completely different levels. I don't know how someone for a second can look at their crimes and think they are comparable. If Aileen had been torturing, raping, killing, ect. young boys, I don't think very many or anyone would feel sorry for her either.

Most people I've come across agree that Eileen was absolutely a product of her environment; perhaps one of the few that really can be described as such.
I've always felt that everything she did, was in direct response to everything she'd suffered throughout her life, and if she'd not suffered those things, she, in all likelihood, would not have become a killer.
I believe Eileen is a classic example of nurture gone wrong.

I know this is hard to believe but I met her three times in the 80's in FL..I don't have any opinion to share about her sentence or crimes. First time in Clamdigger's Pub in Clearwater, just a short conversation with a drunken girl who said her name was Eileen.. Actually she wasn't bad looking then but OBVIOUSLY bat shit crazy.. She was hitting hard on a female acquaintance who was not interested. She had a hard time taking no for an answer.. Then a few months later at the 8-Ball Pub in Hudson FL.. She was with a guy and we just did the "hey, don't I know you from somewhere?" We then both remembered the place and just laughed kind of a "hey, how ya doing?" thing.. The final time was maybe a year and a half or two years later in Daytona at a bar(of course). This was a bit more strange. I was with my best friend who was at Clamdigger's at the first meeting.. She actually convinced us both that she had a twin sister named Eileen and her name was Aileen. Eileen was gay but she was not and it must have been her we met.. I mean it didn't matter, we hardly knew her and didn't care but she was trying to pick up this guy so I'm guessing that's why she made up the twin thing.. She was looking pretty rough at that time.. But yeah, when they first started showing her on the news we recognized her and kept waiting for them to bring up the twin thing but nope, just bat shit crazy girl telling stories.. No point here, just odd..

Thank you so much for covering Aileen, I suggested this one when you asked as this is the one case I’ve always struggled with and I’m so glad to see you feel the same. I have always felt deep empathy for Aileen, I have watched all the films and documentaries and read a couple of the books too and she went through hell. I definitely believe that she was pushed over the edge and would not have killed had things been different at so many various points in her life. I also agree that she was not mentally well by any stretch of the imagination when she was put to death and it never should have been allowed, although I hope that it at least finally brought her peace. When it comes to Ty I think she got away with so much and it’s never sat right with me. Aileen having to watch the woman she adored speak against her in court having thrown her under the bus and knowing she was not going to suffer for her involvement must have been devastating, the whole case was dealt with in a ludicrous manner!

" Loving mother of ?, beloved wife of ?, much loved daughter of so and so and sadly missed by all who knew her". It was NEVER going to be any different her end from her beginning, she came into the world unwanted and left it the same! She was SO used and abused that I have difficulty in seeing Aileen as a monster and a serial killer, I see her as a vulnerable child who wasn't given the SLIGHTEST chance in life and I wonder how many people I would have killed if I had lived her life!

A balanced and insightful appraisal of Aileen Wuornos. I am a psychologist who has worked with some very damaged women. One woman endured a very similar life to Aileen and was damaged beyond help I am sad to say. This woman never killed but she expressed her damage via hugely destructive relations with all the men in her life - and held a distinct contempt for women. I failed to help this woman to the extent that I wished I could. Aileen deserves our compassion - we failed her as a society. Never kill offenders in my view - sane or insane. Judgement is mine saith the Lord. We must try to help in any way we can - whilst keeping dangerous[damaged ]offenders in custody.

Your videos give such a comprehensive, balanced but thought provoking view on these stories. Do you not think though that the damage that was done at such a young age made her sad ending inevitable? To be able to ‘unpick her trauma would require so much intervention and she is just one of so many as you said.
She became such a tortured soul that hopefully she and her ‘victims’ are at peace.

Thank you for sharing this point of view...I've always felt a massive ache in my heart over Eileen W. I know there are a lot of women out there with similar backgrounds who have simply succumbed to dereliction, and wound up dead and forgotten. In Eileen's case she became a warrior for herself. And she fought through life the only way she knew how. She died scared and alone but I'm sure she saw it like she went out swinging. Truly sad for everyone involved.

Emma, this was so refreshing to finally hear someone compassionately and empathetically telling Eileen's story. I agree with you on all points. She had definitely descended into madness through no real fault of her own. It is tragic and very, very sad.

Out of all the serial killer documentary’s , I have also had empathy towards Eileen , she was definitely mentally not well and she should of had help not been put to death . Some people don’t see that way tho ! I just hope she’s in better place .

I’ve seen so much about Eileen Wuornos but Emma Kenny puts the human factor into the case. Emma Kenny is by far my favourite true crime program on UA-cam to date. Having watched you on so many tv programs over the years I’m so happy that you finally have your own channel. Kennys Crime Cult member and proud. Thank you so much, long may the True Crime Queen reign supreme. 😃😃😃

I love listening to your take on all these crimes. People think its odd listening to True Crime stories but I just want to understand how a person could actually do something so awful. You give the details of their past and make it somehow make sense (sort of). Thanks for the content. I would love to hear your opinion on the Maddie Mcann case x

I am so pleased to know that I am not the only person who had some empathy for Eileen. I do feel for the families of those who were murdered, but I do feel Eileen wasn’t dealt the best of hands when she was born and growing up. Was definitely a case of lack of nurture that made her who she became and I think the Justice system let her down by not looking at her mental health issues.I hope she is at peace at last.

Aileen has always touched me to the core .here was an abused child turned into a woman damaged beyond comprehension .the song she chose for her funeral called carnival the words say it all about how she felt through life .I feel for the murdered men to an extent .but Aileen is the exception to the serial killers .may she have found peace in the next world

I really enjoyed your point of view. How many young people are being abused and so many turn their eyes or say it’s not their concern. But the truth is it is everyone’s concern. For this very reason. Although this is an extreme outcome , it speaks to the devastation from no one protecting a child.

Wonderful analysis Emma. I know in your profession you can explain actions and consequences and you clearly keep your training ahead of current social projects and thanks so much. A common theme for me is economic deprivation, and the absurdity of the death penalty, which a dysfunctional society demands.

Thankyou so much for allowing people to see the human side of the abused - if you haven't experienced any adversity or suffering as a child you can be nieve to some of the evil that goes on and the detrimental affects it can have - Aileen was a human being who was abused and committed crimes and then killed for the crimes - but who was there for Aileen? She was stuck in the survival and the trauma im not condoning what she did but how was she expected to do any better when all she experienced was the worst part of humanity - the world to her was a very different place - i believe she needed life-long psychiatric help - not to be murdered.

I remember reading about Aileen when I was younger and then watching the movie and my word her life was so out of control. What amazed me is how people where able to get away with abusing her from such a young age and blame her for their actions. I do empathise with her but definitely don't condone her actions. As we are taught they have consequences. I am definitely going to watch the recommended interviews and read her book too. Thanks for a great video ❤️👍

Can you talk about the James Bulger case? And if you think the two 10 year olds boys at the time can change and if you think they have or able to change despite being child killers? This is such a controversial case especially because of the no justice element! Would love Emma's views on this!

Thanks so much for this Emma there was a lot here that I didn’t know about Aileen and what a tragic childhood she had, it must of been absolutely dreadful to grow up with no one to love or comfort you and to guide you into adulthood and to have a baby at such a young age, then to be married and lose your brother those things in itself are a lot for a young kid to deal with without everything else that she went through. But I’m saying that
