Emma Kenny brings her psychological expertise to dissect the mind of Long, exploring his transformation from an unassuming individual to a prolific predator. She examines the factors that may have contributed to his heinous behavior, including his troubled childhood and the head injuries that are often speculated to have played a role in his psychological development.
Delving into the investigation that led to his capture, Emma discusses the groundbreaking techniques used by law enforcement, including the novel use of physical evidence that ultimately brought Long to justice. This episode also pays tribute to the resilience and bravery of his victims, many of whom played a crucial role in his apprehension.
Join Emma for an in-depth analysis of one of Florida's most infamous criminal cases, as she seeks to understand the motivations behind such atrocities and the lessons that can be learned to prevent future tragedies.

Is anyone else binge watching all of Emma's video right now?? She's so good!
I am. I'm trying to get my daughter to watch it too. But she hasn't gotten around to it. Freaking teenagers. 😂😂😂
I'm binge watching now lol
I’ve watched loads of recents but currently watching all the old ones to keep me occupied before the new releases lol
Don't apologise - even if it's the 1000th programme about any of these individuals, you add so much to their story. I really appreciate the way you break down the psychology without any gratuitous or sensational discussion. Thanks
Brilliant Emma. I didn’t realise it took thirty years for him to be put to death. I was so pleased to hear you say we can learn from these predators because that was the conversation I and my girls had and I was explaining to my 15yo why I don’t agree with the death penalty and this was one of my reasons. Thank you great job. Xx
I've seen a few things on this guy over the years but this is by far the most in-depth account of him I've seen. I really like learning about their early years as it gives an understanding of why they are what they are. I've just found this channel so I shall be having a binge. Thank you Emma for this free content.....and no adverts! 👏
I'm brand new also Happy 🎂 Bingeing
Emma kenny is one of my favourite people on TV and I’ve watched you growing up when I was so uncertain about the world And how you approach crime and criminals made me feel so much safer. I’m 20 now and I just will never forget you and how well you present convey and just are so human and understanding- it’s beautiful and rare and I look up to you x
Thats such a lovely thing to hear Julie. You have certainly made me smile. Em xx
Where has Emma been on TV??
Emma, don't mind the 7 Karens who disliked this video. Some people just want to watch the world burn. I have been watching true crime UA-camrs for a few years. I appreciate the expertise that you bring to your videos, and I will be staying tuned.
Thats lovely. There will always be haters. Thanks for being kind. Em xx
Sadly there will, Emma, but... your true fans who hate trivial unnecessary drama, but LOVE your unique style coverage of fascinating true crime drama always will! 🥰💜
I dislike haters but please don't call them "Karen's" that's so disrespectful to people that have that name and are completely happy and fine and who have brought up two amazing women who are barristers and have two much loved well adjusted grandchildren,I really find this term objectionable because of some whacked out person acting up! Seriously, think about this, what if they call shitheads after your name?
@@karentracey9948 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Would absolutely love to hear your take on Robert Pickton, the “pig farmer” of Port Quoquitlam, BC, Canada.
Me too!
Emma, you are so inspirational. The way you talk with such fiery compassion and insight. You are a gifted psychologist and storyteller who can draw out the humanity in even the most awful of awful cases. The only channel I have come across that talks about serial killers without it seeming just to shock and entertain people, but to understand the dark side of the human condition. Thankyou!
I think Steven that Emma draws us all together here. I strongly agree with you, Emma always deep dives and I have always learnt something new from every case from her, every time. Emma is brilliant and so are you for the words you wrote
Thank you xx
@@EmmaKennyTV Great work! Can you please do the Golden State Killer?
"But by far the worst thing we do to males - by making them feel they have to be hard - is that we leave them with very fragile egos. The harder a man feels compelled to be, the weaker his ego is.”
-Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Look forward to this every Sunday! I love how you cover well known cases and hidden gems. Thank you Emma
The moment I hear about cruelty to animals, I am already hoping that they eventually end up with the death penalty...
Yup, same here whilst researching. Em x
The moment I hear about cruelty to animals something inside me wants to inflict the same pain on the abuser ... as with hearing about babies/children.
@@JojoplusBo Well I think it has a lot to do with the fact that first off they are both totally helpless and have no way of protecting themselves and secondly animals and children are truly completely innocent victims. Not that anyone deserves to be assaulted or killed but it just hits differently with animals and children because they definitely didn’t put themselves in a dangerous situation.
That part made me feel mortified. I hate cruelty to animals like that more than I can bear hearing about humans for some reason.
Made my guts turn over about that poor wee dog 🐕 😢
I'm not a crime stories fan and have never listened to any before your channel. What I love about your channel is the way that you break down the personalities and those of their significant others. Since listening to your channel I have listened to other crime story channels and your stories are simply fascinating and you ALWAYS add value because of the psychological approach that you take. I literally wait for your next video every week. Thank you so much Em 😊❤
I love the confidence In doing such a widely covered case because she knows she will add something
The psychology of serial killers is so insightful. You have a way of bringing new thinking to aspects of their lives. Would love to see you explore more murderer's like Joe O'Reilly - a narcissist who appeared on TV in Ireland to talk about how he "found" his wife's lifeless body. The arrogance of some murderer's defies belief.
It's so shockingto think that this horrific killer walked free and unnoticed for so long. Another truly brilliant episode Emma I love how you put all the pieces of the puzzle together so beautifully. I can't wait for the next episode.
from a retired sex worker - thank you for keeping it real on our behalf
I'm so shocked about how head injuries feels like they unlock something so nasty in some people, I really didn't realise that so many killers had suffered serious head trauma! It's crazy! Would love to see you cover the moors murderes. Brilliant work as usual,😄😄
I'm not a prostitute but I think it's wonderful how you spoke up for them. People do see them as less rather than people who are desperate and using it as a mean of survival.
Well I am a sex worker so thanks from us too 💘

I have the most highest respect for working girls, they are providing an important service for men who dont want pointless conversations , nagging and then the wife will spend your money anyway and not let you have hanky panky ,
Exactly!! It does not matter what you do to make a living! We are all human and deserve the same respect at all times!!
I say this to the other half, how many killers do we walk past in the street not knowing. Another great episode Emma thanks for sharing.
Never miss an episode! You always have new information about these killers that I've never seen or heard before. The insight you have is just amazing Emma. Thank you so much for another fantastic episode! 💗
I’m originally from England, but live in the states & some people stay on death row for many, many years. It’s beyond crazy!
Thank you for your insightful, professional view on this serial killer.
USA born n raised, I feel the same way! Keeping inmates on death row the majority of their life is beyond comprehension.. And the tax payers PAY for this! It's ridiculous and such a waste of money that could be better used to fight crime, clean up bad areas, increase police presence and get better training for them. Help serve and uplift people in high crime areas and turn the statistics around for the better.. But, owning and running a prison is big business, and is very profitable for the very top in charge, so they'll never reform the system.
I say if there's no doubt about the person who committed the crime, they serve no longer than 1 year on death row, before execution.
Other countries do theirs within a week or so of sentencing. America let's it's DR prisoners live loooong happy lives behind bars, free to roam, eat, breathe and socialize..
Something their victims can no longer do, because of them, and THAT is no justice at all..
Let's not forget that our judicial system originated from "Queen's Law"
@@LadyLeeBird the truth of the matter is that it costs more to sentence someone to death than it does life without parole.
@@allan9603 that's a disturbing fact, and I'm aware. The money could still be used for better purposes but if an inmate keeps filing appeals, the courts usually hear them out. The cost of judges and lawyers and courtroom staff and guards, not to mention testing, and analysis, specialists and so on.. Well, the cost really adds up. Just 1 hearing costs thousands of dollars.
Put it this way, the judicial system in America is corrupt, and broken.
It is in need of an overhaul so large that my kids grandkids still wouldn't see it fully reformed if they began tomorrow. My youngest are 10 and 12.
Add in the fact that DR inmates cost upwards of an additional $90,000 MORE to house, and care for, and the state in the 60 million range annually for inmates alone, and you can really see where the enormous holes (not cracks) in the system truly are..
Until we overhaul and inject a serious change within it, this will be the constant reality that nobody likes.
I'm only saying can you imagine what could possibly be done for the community, the innocent children CPS neglects, the crime rates and increased police forces with delicate and moralistic training could do for this country?
60 million annually.. And that's just ONE STATES NUMBERS for inmates.
But lower crime isn't profitable for the big wigs.. And so, it's been this way forever..😞 and always will..
I just like to dream..
@@LadyLeeBird, yes, and one very interesting question any Criminal Justice 101 student will ask: Do we punish, or do we rehabilitate?
Talk prison reform to any politician, and you'll get a shoulder colder than a well digger's ass in Alaska!
Stop, wait a minute.., did I just write "shoulder colder"? Ha, I made a funny!😛😄🤣😂
Smart gal Lee Lee, great discussion!
Allan via Riker's Island Penitentiary, NYC.🤓
I like how you integrate the many inputs that contribute to the creation of a sociopath: genetics, trauma, individual and societal. To add another point about consequence / justice system failure: his ex-wife Cindy Brown said that when she went to the hospital, police were there and were aware the BJL had choked and beat her. She begged the police not to arrest him. The police agreed under the condition that she file for divorce within a week. She did and BJL was never arrested. It’s crazy to imagine. Yet in the 1980s, that type of incident flew under the radar more than it does now.
Emma! Is there any chance you could do a video on Ian Huntley. My mom swans classmates with him at school. And she said he was always strange at school..
I have rewatched your Mick Philpott video so many times. I just cannot get over... parents putting their own flesh and blood at risk.. let alone murdering them... I hope you are well and staying safe through this strange time. Xx
I agree, Emma definitely need to do an in depth video on Huntley.
This one is a new one for me so thank you for that! It gave me chills when you spoke about what he did to the family dog and made me cry hearing what he did to those poor girls. He had absolutely no regard or value on any woman's life, they were objects to him. That rage too!! Sounds like he just wanted to destroy them in every way he could
Ugh, your crime videos are my favorite on UA-cam
Never heard of this guy before so definitely haven't already watched 493 docs on him already lol. This was incredibly interesting to watch. But my god was it also chilling. Like actually terrifying that he got away with it for so long x
i really like the way you connect and contextualize things in your videos - it makes the narrative feel very complete!
I just love your voice and the way you tell the tales! I have watched so many of vids about him but the way you tell it is fascinating! Feels like ur talking to us not to a camera!
Thanks Stacy. It is much nicer to be able to chat to the audience rather than just to someone asking questions. Makes things much more personal. Em x
So look forward to my Sunday night crime fix x
I look forward to watching your cases Emma ..you’re excellent at telling stories/cases so professionally. Thanks 😊
When I moved to Florida, over 20 years ago, I lived around that area of Tampa. Port Richey/New Port Richey is basically attached to Tampa via urban sprawl. I've always been fascinated by abnormal psychology, perhaps because I share some traits with some of these people. Brain injuries, mental illness, abused in some ugly ways as a child. I seem to have gone the opposite direction, though. While I'm interested in this stuff, I ache for the victims and their families. Somehow, I managed to hang on to my humanity. I only recently found your channel and I've been impressed by your presentations so far. Insightful on a level that other people seem to miss. It seems so many are only interested in the gore aspect of it all. Anyway, I definitely subbed up, I just hate waiting a week to get the next one. ;)
People go through things and either wamna help others to not suffer or think everyone should suffer like tney did. Im also someome who wants to help amd protec
I have always had a fascination with the psychology behind what makes a serial killer tick. Over the years I have watched many documentaries about serial killers and I want to thank you for your input and different approach to analysing these crimes. Keep them coming Emma! I’m enjoying them! (Does that make me seem weird 😆)
Love your channel, Emma. That you are not edited by others, like on the shows you've been on, makes it clear that you are bright and sensitive and good at your job.
Thanks for starting it; I subscribed as soon as I clicked on the first one.
Love from the Pacific Northwest
Thank you xx
I'd never heard of this guy before. As soon as they start with animals, you know where it's going.
Thanks Emma :)
RIP to all those ladies and the family dog.
Funny you should say that actually. Have you saw the Netflix documentary 'Dont fk with cats'? Well if you haven't I suggest you do. It has nothing really to do with cats', although a cruelty video was posted and he was exposed as a killer who went on the run. Luke Magnotta. Great watch honestly!

New favourite youtube channel!!
I just love how humble and true you are and how you talk through these cases, it really does put a new spin on what we already know of the cases. An hour just flies by when watching your videos!
Brilliant Emma, thank you, I always find the head injury and serious crime cases so interesting, I wonder how much research has been done into the connection. You have an unique channel in that you focus so heavily on the psychology, I think that's an area that's been missing in the true crime community, not only on youtube but everywhere and I find that so strange, it's the most interesting aspect to me and in my opinion the most important. Apprehensive about next week because I know it'll made me sad, although I obviously don't condone her crimes, I've always had such sympathy for Eileen Wuornos, let down and misunderstood by so many in so many ways.
I have so much sympathy & empathy too, for Lee Wornous.
She had such a shitty life from start to finish , it's an absolutely heartbreaking tragic tale of her life 💔
The only other serial killer I feel empath for is Bob Maudsley, truly I feel nothing but compassion for this man.
Going back to Lee , that woman was shat on by everyone in her life from start to finish, the lady didn't stand a chance.
I think the saddest thing was her gf, the only person Lee honestly trusted, let's face it, Ty ( can't recall her full name, Tyler?) knew wxactly what was occuring , i mean, C'mon! Yet she saved her own backside & stabbed her ex Lady in the back happily whilst doing so. Ty stitched her up and that broke Lee more than anything else, the poor beautiful Eileen.
Everyone wanting to make a buck from her.
So tragic. X
I could listen to you all day! You give all the perspectives and you really actually give a **** about what you do and care about who is affected in every story, you talk like you care, I like that you don’t talk like a robot. Keep em coming Emma!
By far the best true crime utuber I don’t bother with the others anymore, you explain things in such detail it’s easy to understand! Love it thank you 🙏
So glad I subscribed, love your channel and the in depth descriptions of these awful people and their crimes...the cozy background makes these heinous stories a little easier to bear..thank you Emma 😊
I am so fascinated by all these documentaries you do. You always put extra info in that i didnt know Really love how you put everything together, and just your way of speaking and giving us all the information. Never heard of this guy! Would love you to do Dennis Nilsen
I LOVE the way you break down the minds of these killers. You are so intelligent, so good at making separate points and tying it all together. You would probably make a great FBI profiler.
Anyway I just found you today and I can't get enough of your way of doing true crime videos. Most people who do these videos about murderers don't have your level of education and experience so instead of diving deep into the psyche of the killer they delve into the background of the victims, working to humanize them, and while they do talk about the killers it's more just their life before they started killing. I love those types of videos too, but I appreciate your criminal profiling too. It's different and I'd like to later look at these cases from both your perspective and then maybe the perspective (I've already kind of done this because I've seen a lot of true crime videos done by other creators whereas I'm just finding you.) But seriously, I admire your work. I admire the time and thought you put into each video; each one I've watched has been phenomenal so I absolutely had to subscribe and now I've spent the last 5 hours binge watching your videos.
I already watched all of the documentaries about these stories that you cover but I am very happy to watch your take on all these killers, you add a new perspective on it, making your videos different from what is around already. I’ve always loved you on the crime docs you’ve always been my favourite and it’s so nice to see you here and to have you covering these stories in their entirety.
I adore the way you bring so much information from the criminals back story. These videos must take you so long to research and film. Thank you for the dedication! They're fab
Emma, another awesome video
Thank you
Obviously I know you from several crime TV shows, i initially fell into a UA-cam rabbit hole whilst perusing Fred Dinenage videos and stumbled upon your snap chat killers video, watched it and now I'm hooked, loving the way you explain these cases, and put your opinion stamp on them, I just wanted to say thank you for your videos, and making living through covid a little more bearable

Love this series Emma, always watch your vintage appearances on those old 90s documentaries. It could quiet easily be a drinking game the amount of times your name crops up in them :) Keep up the great work.
Even looking through historical family records, where members have killed or suddenly changed, you find an incident such as, was kicked in the head by a horse; fell from a tree; some type of head trauma. The football and boxer head injuries, soldiers returned from war. The evidence is overwhelming and has been here for many many years. I would love for you to cover an obscure historical case. Any country, just not Jack the ripper lol. They are FASCINATING when you apply modern eyes and logic to them.
@crema de la soda I'm at work so literally don't have time to link you the numerous studies, websites, and articles that illustrate the established cause effect correlation of head injuries and the increased risk of aggression and depression in those individuals, among other possible disorders. Also see the suicides of multiple TBI victims from the military and the world of pro sports. Oh, and the neuro society is another good resource. Everything people do, they do for a reason, good or bad. Its just a question of whether or not we have the science yet to understand why.
Thank you again Emma for another great video! I really enjoy your perspective on these monsters.
Is there any chance in the future you would do a case on Jerry Burdos or Ed Kemper? Thanks again ❤️❤️

Love how you dissect these things you've obviously done a lot of research.
Nothing sinister Emma, just had to say that you are gorgeous, never change. x
I absolutely love your channel, your outlook on these sick individuals and give us the research into their lives from childhood on up! I always wondered how a human being could do something so horrible to a poor animal, let alone a human being! My ex-husband is a retired cop and the things that he saw would absolutely amaze me! He never dealt with a serial killer, but he was also a sniper in the Marine Corp. in active duty! What he witnessed there was things that he wouldn’t fully talk about! Thank you for so graciously explaining signs to look for in people, but then there are people that you would never expect like Chris Watts? How was Shannan supposed to know he would kill her and their children? That story confuses me? We know now, but if no one came along he wouldn’t have killed her? If she left him it would of been probably someone else! I’ll have to go back and watch your video on Chris Watts to see if there where signs? If not that would be an excellent video to make! The man everyone loved turned into a monster and murdered his whole family? My ex-husband had an affair and married her! He remained the best father and we didn’t speak but I’m alive?
Absolutely loving these Emma! New subscriber and I’ve just caught up with all your previous videos. Could you consider covering some UK true crime, in particular Raoul Moat? That always sends shivers down my spine and it would be good to hear your take on it. Keep up the content 🤗

Great again Emma. Your research is amazing and I watch a lot of crime shows and videos and yours are the best xx
Thank you Emma. I have to say that if this man was rare, you probably wouldn't be doing these stories. There are murders everyday, not all by serial killers but still not less heinous.
I had not heard of this case and I subscribe to many channels like yours. Keep up the good work.
Wow! Another fascinating case. There is something familiar with a lot of these killers and so much of the time they have some sort of issues in childhood or with their parents. Loving this channel ❤

Hi Emma I guessed 30 mins for the jury so ideas pretty close lol 😂, I hadn’t heard much about this case, very intriguing, but it’s just so disgusting how a lot of law and enforcement are so blazé when it comes these serial killers. How many times have they been pulled over, interviewed,DNA taken but nothing happens they go free to continue their crime spree which only makes the perpetrator more cocky because they got away with it yet again, and in lots of cases for many years, and I’ll never understand the American justice system if your sentenced to death it should be within 12 months not 30 years what a disgrace for those families to bare, thanks again Emma, definitely cannot wait for next week’s episode, love love your work🥰
Even though these cases you cover are disturbing, it still feels like I’m watching/listening to an actual angel lol 👼

You say about cases being covered over and over but each video I have watched of yours, you have covered things sometimes big things that no other youtube/podcast or documentaries have.
