I lost 60% of my pancreas, gall bladder and spleen because the hospital told me if I let them install 2 JP drains in pseudocysts in my pancreas. The hospitalist said they could send me home with the drains and they would dry up in 2 weeks and be removed. One did and the other never stopped draining 400ml a day for 10 months. My GI sent me to OHSU in Portland, Oregon where they performed the cholestomy, pancrectomy and splenectomy.
The pain of pancreatitis was undescribable, it radiated into my neck, back and stomach with vomiting. I am forever diminished, chronic fatigue rules me. I definitely do not drink alcohol and haven't since my first, only and hopefully last experience with pancreatitis. DO NOT LET A HOSPITAL put a Jackson-Pratt drain in your pancreas if you are presented the option. I wish I had never allowed them to do it. My quality of life is not at all the same.

What was the alternative to having the drains put in? Wouldn't the fluid have to be drained? Why are the drains a bad thing? I'd like to know more.

The most common causes of pancreatitis are alcohol, gallstones, or high calcium levels. 30% of the time, there’s an unknown cause for pancreatitis (Idiopathic). One article suggests it could be primarily bile sludge.
The cause of bile sludge is cholesterol buildup due to low bile. The best solution to this problem is to take bile salts.
On top of using bile salts, you also want to address the underlying cause of low bile. Causes of a bile deficiency include:
    • Low-fat diets
    • High-carb diets
    • Poor microbiome
    • Fatty liver
    • High estrogen
    • High cortisol
Healthy keto and intermittent fasting are the best way to combat these issues.
    Thank you Dr Berg!

I found out that I have pancreatitis and I’m just so sad and so scared and so worried that this can lead into pancreatic cancer, which is the worst cancer in the world and my doctor said it was because I was taking Ozempic, which is a very very rare which I just don’t believe that cause I’ve been on it for some time and I never had this problem. I was offered for a couple of months and I had to go back on the low-dose, but she also prescribed me the high dose and I chose the high dose instead of the low-dose, and the next thing I know weeks later, I’m having this excruciating pain out of nowhere vomiting out of nowhere. I don’t even vomit and then I went to ER and I stay the night at the hospital and that’s when they said that my pancreas was bruised and they gave me this blue pill to take in a white pill to take and I don’t have any pains in my back just a little cramping on the sides and a little bit at the top especially when I eat. I hope this doesn’t turn into anything worse I’m so worried it’s like my doctors and them don’t think there’s nothing else just inflamed, and then when I was at the hospital, my temperature blew went up to 101 and then surprisingly it went down just as fast as it went up from 101 then it went down to 98. It’s just the creepiest weirdest stuff I never get temps 😢😢😢.

I’m wondering if I have Sphincter of Odi dysfunction. I had my gallbladder out last October and to my dismay, I have still been having similar symptoms but have developed a different pain pattern that I overlooked because I already have chronic pain from my Juvenile Discogenic Disease , Myofascial Pain Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, OA numerous areas. The last few months I have had more epigastric pain and tenderness with an actual pudge that sticks out rather strangely. I was putting off going in to the clinic because of Covid so I was doing zoom visits for my chronic pain management but I went in last week to see my doctor in person because I’m getting worried that something more serious is going on. My liver enzymes are 3X higher than normal and also the Lipase was 3X higher than normal. I have been having intermittent pain that is sometimes like a band around the umbilical area with some sharper pains under my left ribs and feel a sharp pain in my left scapular area, it feels like a catch in my back. I also started getting pain in the back of my head one night after supper and when I woke up my left side of my neck hurt really badly and I attributed it to a stiff neck because I couldn’t turn my head to the left without increased pain. I was getting really depressed because I thought wow, if my neck vertebrae are going bad now too, I don’t know how much more pain I can take anymore. I had the neck pain for 3 days and right now I’m having the scapular pain again plus my neck is starting to feel like it’s pulling and tightening up again. My CBD has been gradually getting bigger the last 5 years and the CT scan last week shows it is up to 14 mm diameter now. It also showed intrahepatic biliary dilation and mild prominence of pancreatic duct which was a new finding from last year when I had the cholecystectomy. I had complications with my gallbladder surgery. I went in as outpatient and surgery went well until I sat up in the chair to eat and suddenly felt like I was blacking out, I called for the nurse and my BP was 60/40 so they quickly got me back lying down and it improved slightly but every time I tried to sit up I would feel faint again. They gave 2 liters IV fluids wide open but I still felt faint rather quickly. I told them there was no way I could go home so they admitted me. I told the nurse right after my surgery that my belly was really big, so big even down to my pelvis but she said it was the gas from the laparoscopy. I voided one time that whole day and had a night from hell. I couldn’t pass gas and my stomach would suddenly get rock hard and spasm and I was in so much pain that I couldn’t take deep breaths. I didn’t ask for anything for pain because I already take pain meds for my chronic pain conditions and I didn’t want them to think that I was drug seeking so all I got was the same meds that I take at home and it didn’t do anything. I’m a Registered Nurse but don’t work anymore because of the chronic pain and I know how nurses can be when people are on pain meds, some of them really like to screw with people by making them wait longer and they make snide comments about how people put their call light on right at the 4 hour mark. Back before I had pain I remember many nurses saying mean things about patients with Fibromyalgia so this is why I laid there in misery all night. The doctor came in at 7 am and said that my hemoglobin was 7 and they gave me 2 units of PRBC’s and then back to CT scan which showed 2 large areas of bleeding, 1 large area was from the gallbladder area and then there was a large hematoma that ran down in to the pelvic region plus I already had a ruptured ovarian cyst which I would have several times a year. I had bilateral atelectasis of lower lobes and a right sided Pleural Effusion. When I had to lay flat for the CT and to get back on the operating table, I was really struggling to breathe properly and could only take little fast and shallow breaths which was a horrible feeling. They looked for where the bleeding was coming from but couldn’t find it. They put in a JP drain. The next day the Hemoglobin was back down to 7.9 again so I had another 2 units and spent another night. I’m so frustrated with having this pain and bloating and have been getting more depressed again which I struggle with already but knowing something is wrong again and worrying about paying for the hospital bill. 4 years ago I had terrible right sided abdominal pain that got worse as the night went on until I couldn’t take it anymore so I went to the ER and the CT showed that my appendix had ruptured so in to the OR immediately and then 5 days in the hospital. That was absolute hell as well but they at least gave me pain medicine without question. To have pain on top of pain, it’s difficult to gage how serious something is for me and I end up waiting way too long which worsens the conditions and ends up with complications and a larger hospital bill. I just had two sharp pains while writing this in my left scapula that was so sharp that I screamed out loud. Oh man I hope it’s not Pancreatitis. I don’t know why I even write all this because it’s like yelling in to the void. Most of the time I write stuff and then delete it because who’s going to actually read all this. I’m going to leave it up this time. I’m scheduled to have an upper and lower endoscopy because I also have GERD and heartburn that gets really bad at times and my lower intestines have cramp like pains frequently with Tenesmus at times so I’m getting both ends checked out plus I’m due for the colonoscopy anyways because I’m 50 years old although I heard that they now recommend this at age 45 so I hope to God nothing is wrong down there. I turned 50 and everything is going haywire plus I’m entering menopause with LMP 6 months ago so I’m up off and on all night sweating and turning my fan off and on all night and then having to go pee as well. My word do I have issues. I used to be a gymnast and was a really good tumbler and I won the regionals in the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter low hurdles plus the anchor for the mile relay and now my entire body feels like someone threw me off a flatbed truck going 60 mph with another vehicle running over me once more for good measure. My word.

Kideny problems and Kidney diease can cause abdominal pain and bloating. Have your kidneys checked with a blood and urine test if you are having abdominal and or liver pain that is chronic. Especially if you are diabetic or suffer from high blood presure. These are two major causes of kidney disease. Do not ignore pain in the abdomen or mid and or lower back.

The video brings up many valid points of what this type of pain could be but one thing that I think needs to be discussed in all seriousness is the fact that these symptoms are also a precursor to life threatening problems such as an MI or AAA. I can’t tell you how many patients I have treated that come in with these exact symptoms and were diagnosed with something major… People need to be encouraged to go to the hospital.

With nothing to lose, i took my first tudca and in 40 mins, the nausea that palgued me day and noght for 10 months was gone. 3 days taking tudca and milk thistle, burning hell fire stomach GONE. I can now touch my stomach again which tells me my pancreas isnt as swollen as it has been since thinning out my gallbladder sludge. Because the nausea and hell fire was taking center stage and now it isn't, i can feel my gallbladder pain now. Feels like someone sucker punched me in the gallbladder. Everything came back normal and was prescribed pantroprozole (funny tho they asked what my last meal was and it was pozole) and Pepcid. My pain returned twice after I was released. Pain last about an hour or 2 (feels like forever). They are thinking I have acid reflux or gastritis. Hoping it’s not. Guess I got start watching what I eat. I do have fatty liver too. My pain is about a 7/8 and weird thing is, I also feel super hungry at the same time. But who wants to eat when you’re in pain. This is the downside to getting old.

I realize now that about several years ago, I released a large gallstone myself (my diet wasn’t so great prior to that) when I was taking a lot of Cayenne Pepper capsules. Once the stone was out so many things healed at once, pretty much overnight. Would Cayenne pepper be helpful along side bile salts, or just the cayenne pepper itself?

Is this a problem of uncontrolled drainage of bile, since no storage tank, per se, or need for more bile?( Once, you had mentioned in a video, a person could drain too much at a time, or that additional needed)

Hi I was doing keto and fasting for 9 weeks and felt amazing but I cheated for 5 days and had pain and I went to doc and he said my gallbladder is full of stones but I won’t get it out no way! Gallbladder is important. So I am drinking chanca Piedra ( the stonebreaker) Herbs and they help so much! You need to drink them everyday 3 times and avoid gluten and carbs! Also take bile salts before you eat/with your meal! I hope that my stones will go away. Hmm weird maybe try choline Tablets after meal and wait few days and then try again the bile salts? You also should take omega 3 and drink water with lemon and apple cider vinegar every

Your gall bladder is simply a storage pouch for the bile produced by your liver. I am a retired nurse and had laparoscopic surgery to remove my gall bladder in 1992. Had it removed in the early morning and left the hospital in the evening. No more pain and suffering. FYI even after your gall bladder is removed your liver still produces bile for the digestion of fats. I can eat whatever foods I want and without any indigestion.

Wow! Amazing. Love the tidbit on the phrenic nerve and gallbladder issues. I've long had a right head tilt and just emptied an amazing amount of gallstones with a gallbladder flush. Is there anything similar on the left side? Possibly tied with the pancreas? I sometimes have difficulty draining the L side of my head, jaw, etc. in lymph and also have some shoulder/neck issues on that side. With all the pain and pressure in the center left of my abdomen, I had been thinking I had spleen and/or lymph cisterna chyli but maybe it has been the pancreas actually.

My back pain inflames the entire area it hurts including making it hard to use the bathroom due to back pain making pushing out poop cause my back to hurt. If I look at my feet it will make my back hurt in that spot so I went easy on my back to let it heal and it has gotten better. I'm thinking the inflamed back can also cause similar issues outlined in this video.
