    I'm very sorry, but I cannot give specific, individualized medical advice on this channel. If you are experiencing abdominal pain yourself, I recommend speaking to your physician.
    This video is specifically about *acute* abdominal pain; in clinical medicine, "acute" refers to a single episode developing over minutes to days. Thus, causes of *Chronic Abdominal Pain* (e.g. abdominal cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome, functional abdominal pain) and/or recurrent episodic pain (e.g. menstrual pain, endometriosis, IBD, IBS) are covered in a companion video here: ua-cam.com/video/qfVHJQu-dfw/v-deo.html.

      Please also consider ACNES because it isn't well known, it is a long way until diagnosed because it isn't the first thing that comes to mind to doctors. Please look this up when pain is a problem that isn't explained after a lot of examinations didn't give a diagnose. Please keep this ACNES mention visible so people can learn and maybe be alert to this possible diagnosis. So many people are suffering for such a long time without diagnose, please research and mention this too❤️❤️ so this gets more recognized. And more awareness can be spread. Thank you in advance I do hope this comment doesn't get lost. Wishing everybody a swift recovery and hopefully this information reaches more people so it can help and educate and most of all end some suffering earlier due to more awareness of what the cause can be and what can be done about it.

      @@snltgr I have taken to doing my own research due to severe right quadrant -- all routine labs and testing (CT, MRI, X-ray) are all normal. After researching, my symptoms match perfectly. I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow, butvi don't know how to bring ACNES up to him! I rarely go to the doctor and hadn't seen a doc since early n 2016 (I had a mild stroke and herniated 3 cervical discs, went to ER complaining o stoke symptoms & arm/armpit pain-- l had a fusion shortly afterwards & have no lasting signs of stroke). Prior to 2016, I can't even recall going to a doc in the previous 10yrs. I have to be in excruciating pain or have obvious symptoms like those of a atroke-- drooling face, slurring words,weakness on one side, etc).Basically, i know no one likes going to the doctor, but I avoid it at all costs. If my illness or symptoms interfere w/my sleep. I'm also self-paying and those tests weren't inexpensive!
      I'm just trying to get the point across that I don't go to doctors unless I am in too much pain to sleep or it makes me cry out loud.
      After a few trip ls to the doc and each resulting in a referral for a test (remember I'm self-paying! I pay more than the contract rate insurance companies pay (usually 2.4 times more) and the office gets paid right away by me in cash and has no firms to fill out and mil)
      Anyway, *HOW* do I bring up to my doctor that I'd like him to check me for ACNES? I remember going with my mom to an appointment she had and wjenvi brought up a possibility for her symptoms, the doc nastily said, "I wish patients would stay off the internet!"
      So, any suggestions? I thought maybe I should ask about 2 or 3 things that it ISNT and then ask about ACNES so he can confidently tell me why it's not the first 2 or 3. That way if he's not familiar with ACNES, I've saved his ego with his knowledge of the first 2 or 3. *ANY* and *ALL* suggestions, replies and comments will be GREATLY APPRECIATED! .
      I cannot live, cannot survive, with this pain. It's just too intense for too long that my head has briefly wondered if a doctor will purposely injure a patient's spinal cord so they are numb/paralyzed from the waist down. I'm not quite there yet, but I am beginning to wonder if I could find relief after going to the 'hood in ATL and buying some crack or heroin or whatever might help. I honestly would trade being an addict for this pain because I figure there treatment for it and I can crawl myself out of addiction. Unfortunately, narcotics/opioids, do nothing for this and have refused any refills or higher dose. if pain pills font work WHAT DOES WORK??i

    I suffered from unbearable abdominal pain for many years. Once I took gluten out of my diet, the pain went away. Try a diet free of wheat & barley and see if it doesn't help. I also stopped eating eggs , corn, and peanut butter. This made a HUGE change. Now my stomach feels even better than it did when I was a child.

    I suffered a perforated duodenal ulcer over 12 years ago. It was nearly fatal. I spent the whole month of November in the hospital, mostly in ICU. I haven’t forgotten that pain nor the symptoms leading up to the acute situation. I say all this because I am very aware of slight changes in most parts of my body, especially my abdominal area. I don’t look for pain. I love being healthy. However, I am in my 60s now, and I worry about my stomach area more than any area. I really enjoyed your video. I don’t feel as anxious about my present onset of pain in my upper right quadrant. I feel confident that I can wait and watch for any other symptoms. I don’t need to panic!

    I've just found your channel and this video for the first time. And let me just say... wow! Thank you! I've done so much in depth research yet there was one thing I've missed that was on your video. I've been living with chronic pain for 12+ years and an array of other symptoms affecting every body system, my quality of life,... just everything. Yet doctors can't fully explain what's happening to me and like so many others - must of my tests all come back "normal".
    A little over a year ago I went to the ER finally - because I've been so traumatized by medical professionals in so many different ways this was huge for me.
    They did an ultrasound on my gallbladder - said my results were normal - no gallstones and only mild wall thickening. However, after just a few moments into the ultrasound I went into a severe "episode" exactly the same as I have been for years and it caused tremendous pain.
    I've known all of this time that that couldn't be normal but still they said it was heartburn along with one other ER person & then a couple of different drs said it was me having panic attacks or was FND.
    Also, during my HIDA Scan (normal results of course), severe pain & an episode was triggered by the meds they injected towards the end (cck/ckk?).
    I'm still fighting for answers- it shouldn't be this hard. After all of these years of suffering, being home bound, and losing so so much - I'm finally going to Mayo Clinic appt this month. I'm terrified they will dismiss me too, tell me it's mental health only, won't believe me, etc... but I'm still going to find the strength to drive 14+ hrs to get there because they are what feels like my last hope.
    I deserve better than the care I've recieved and how I've been treated because... well, because I'm a human being who is suffering to such lengths that I can't so much physically now and it's similar to screaming but noone can hear me because they aren't listening to the few things I can still say. If I go into an episode during an appt which is very likely if they start by being kinda mean - I can't even speak in full sentences or explain myself properly.
    By the way, in case anyone reads this and needs a better picture... I'm only 36 so this all started when I was 24 years old, healthy, strong, slim, etc... And still to this day even people who know me well don't believe me - some not fully - because I can still walk and they can't visibly see anything wrong with me.
    I'm still choosing to love, to be understanding, to not let the bitterness consume me, and I want to live!! But not like this... this isn't living, it's only surviving and not very well at that.
    Ok, done spewing now ♡♡♡

    hopefully this helps people understand why we ER docs have to resort to getting so many abdominal CTs. how are you going to send someone home knowing that things present atypically, that WBC is not reliable, that appendicitis can present without fever, vomiting...sigh.

    • @StrongMed
      @StrongMed  4 роки тому +10

      Agree! There are many situations in medicine when docs generally over-order radiographic studies, but ordering imaging in the ED for patients with acute abdominal pain is not one of them. There are too many serious diseases that present similarly which can only be reliably distinguished via imaging.
      In my first draft of this video, I spent a few minutes talking specifically about imaging indications for acute abdominal pain, but it was impossible to summarize beyond: "If the patient looks ill and you aren't confident as to what's going on, get a CT or ultrasound" which doesn't sound consistent with "Choosing Wisely" principles in the US that aim to reduce healthcare costs and exposure to adverse events from unnecessary testing, but having a low threshold to scan an painful belly nevertheless seems the most clinical prudent.

      It could be trapped wind since u said you feel relief when passing gas. Try boiling some ginger with water (u could add tea and honey for taste). Drink this, it will help release gas. It really works wonders if the problem is trapped gas. You should also watch the type of food u eat which can cause the production of gas. If problem still occurs, you should see a doctor! We appreciate this video! Gut health is so important for overall health! A survey from 2018 of 71,000 Americans found that 61% had at least 1 bothersome gut issue! The most common gut symptom was acid reflux or GERD, then abdominal pain, then bloating.

It last less than a second and feels like it is almost under my ribs . In 7th grade I got punched really hard in that spot and quit breathing for 5 mins and that might be it

      @@sweeptheleg3097 some weeks ago i was eating a apple sause it was not cold. The next moring i woke up with lower abdomen pain which move from the right to the left which last about 2or 3 days with bloating. After the adbomen pain was over, the pain travelled to my lower side then my rids area on the right side. When lower back pain which would moves to the upper area. Some times i pain went to my chest or so i think. The twist in my story is before i pain above my navel that started all this ago i was having bodyaches dure to axniety physical sysmtoms. So now i dont know if all this is axniety related or now. I did find a little lump in the back of my neck. I think i have cancer which every person with health anxiety think they have i dont know

    My sharp pain in the upper right quadrant came from a 1 cm benign tumor in my large intestine, right close to my appendix, so they did a resection and removed my appendix.The tumor was found during my first routine colonoscopy at age 52. Should have gone in at age 50, then they could have snipped it out. It grew too big to snip, thus the surgery.

    Excellent video! What about LLQ pain after eating and gets better when standing up? On antibiotics for 10 days and nothing helps. Dr's thought diverticulitis but antibiotics didn't help. Stones? Ovarian cyst?

    • @StrongMed
      @StrongMed  3 роки тому

      I'm sorry that the antibiotics did not help your symptoms. Unfortunately, I can't offer specific, individualized medical advice here. I recommend you either speak again with the doctor who provided the initial prescription, or seek a formal second opinion.
