David R Lentz, Dublin, Ohio USA A really nice build, a perfect balance of aging and realism! You are waaaaaaay better than an average model builder. I wish I knew more about the 1921 Oldsmobile. See my comment to the hpiguys Workshop build and review.
Fine job , turned out great. And you're right , they would've taken very good care of there truck.. They had millions , but they weren't going to buy a new fancy car.. That was what they had a all they needed.. You did a nice job.
The entire show really revolved around the Clampetts being way more resourceful than the city folk. People from the mountains are very smart and resourceful and have more respect for what they have and make it last…thank you for watching.
Thanks…. I can’t find where the Hot Rod version ended up…these cars in my eyes are like great works of art… I hope all the Barris cars are in good hands… I just can’t find any info on this hot rod version.
If there is a better build of this on UA-cam I haven't seen it yet. I wish you would've shown your weathering techniques. I really have no clue on that front. I would've also liked to see what paint brands and colors you used. Compared to photos I've seen of others' builds yours is the most faithful replica I've seen. Have fun with your toys!
Thanks for the very kind words. I just use old school Testors in the spray can… I am a lazy builder. I don’t air brush… I’m old school… I just used the Tamiya weathering … rust and grey. I’m not a master model builder…I’m right out of the box. I did find a great UA-cam video of the actual car…the hero car.
I'm starting my build , and I've found some old pic that I had.. I was looking for reference photos before I got started.. And I have watched just about every build video that i can find .. But i have to be honest with you and say that out of all the builds that I've seen , ( and there's not as many as you might think). But your truck is actually one of the best ones .. Your colors are just about spot on and you didn't over weather or rust it up to much.. There truck wouldn't have been ate up with rust and the paint would've of just been really faded.. The drove it everyday and they took care of there truck and themselves.. So there truck old , but it wasn't a total mess or to much of an eye sore.. So have to say Hat's off to you and hpi-guy . I like you guys the best.. Kept it simple , wore a bit , but believable.👍
The best video for reference is on Daze With Jordan The Lion… it is the actual car …not one of the touring cars… just search the real Beverly hillbillies car… it’s in a museum in Missouri I believe . Thanks for your kind words…
Yes…that’s copyright stuff… same with some of the Munster re-Releases… the original box had both versions of the car on front…I finished video before I found that out… I need to rename this video…I only built it because of the show and I remember the episode… I have no interest in the hot rod version… there are a few re-release kits that avoid using the names of the shows the cars actually come from. I recommend the kit as it builds easy and is way fun…thanks for watching.
Great job. Did it also a fun build,

It appears that all references to "The Beverly Hillbillies" have been removed from the kit!

How can one build this kit as a basic 1921 Oldsmobile in good condition?
