Soft naturals are the last Natural Body type in my 'Get to know the Body Types' series’ - a fairly common body type for most women and men, and one that is super fun to dress up! Are you a Soft Natural? 🙂.
This is me! I look best in midi-length dresses/skirts. I have lots of linen items. I look nice in a square neckline too. I think it suits this type really well. A straight line across the chest distracts from the shoulders and arms and is flattering as long as the straps are thicker than an inch. Waist emphasis is key it seems unfinished or sloppy if it is not there. I stay away from fabric that is too thin. It needs to have some weight to it. High-quality fabrics are a soft natural's best friend!
Thank you for using some masculine examples here. It's so hard to find style advice that isn't just for feminine bodies, especially where Kibbe is concerned, so this was really helpful.
A great tip for people wanting to wear something tighter fitting like a dress without emphasizing width. Is to wear something like a waistcoat, scarf or a flowing cardigan over the top This emphasizes the waist but the width is broken up by something flowing over the top 😊 I find shorter skirts can make your legs look incredible if you have the length of the skirt cut off at the narrowing part of the leg. So short skirts can cut off where the thighs start to get narrower before the knee and longer skirts, where the calf starts to narrow before the ankle. This emphasizes where the legs get narrower. Elongating the legs! 🙌
This was great and I liked all of the examples. Spaghetti straps look so bad on me as a SN so I’m glad you mentioned them, as well as removing shoulder pads 👏🏻
I love your language. I have never heard anyone speak of bodies this way and it was so refreshing and made think differently of my body shape. Your words are so positive.

I am a Soft Natural. I have watched a lot of these Kibbe body type videos and found yours to be absolutely true. I would add that tailored clothing, especially suits are hard to pull off because they are usually too structured, with not enough ease in the fit. Yes, I feel like a linebacker in some garments. Yes, I size up to fit my shoulders and back at times. And I always suit a belt but it needs to be a wide one. BTW are you going to do some videos about essences?
Exactly! Structure, especially suits are really constrictive on SNs. I'm glad you enjoyed the video ☺ Yes! Dropping the first of my Essence series today!
Thank you!! There’ll be more examples across other videos, plus I’m working on digital downloads people can purchase with a TON of examples and in-depth explanations on each body type ☺️. Stay tuned!
I'm not sure what shape i aam, I've tried the test many times, i do know I'm a inverted triangle shape with wide shoulders ribs and waist, but i have slim hips almost one size down from my top half, I'm 5ft 3 size 12 top and 10 from the hips.
I'll be doing a video on shorter body types (that aren't petite), which will include a lot of the natural family! So it may help, if not I do professional analysis - all my info is on my website!
I'm not sure what my kibbe body type is. But when you said remove shoulder pads, I realised I am not this body type because shoulder pads and structure look so good on me.
It´s so interesting: I´m into Kibbe´s Bokyimage for a few years now and it took me a wile but i´ve found my Type which is SN. Everything works on me except the coats. The same for the recommendation on Coats on other channels. I hate these flowy shawl collars on me. They make me look much wider than I am - and a little bit frumpy. And: I really like a moderate shoulder pad for me in blazers as well as in coats/jackets.
Hi! Glad you found it interesting ☺️. In short, Soft Naturals have width and are smaller. Soft Dramatics are taller and have more dramatic features underneath the softness/curves I’ll be tackling comparison videos in the new year ☺️
Wow, this was EXACTLY what I have been searching for! I really thought I was soft natural and then someone threw me off by saying soft dramatic. This video was incredibly helpful and kept me from losing my mind 😂😂 I love how you word everything, made me feel so beautiful in the features I once looked at negatively.
Yay! So happy it helped clear things up! And extra happy to hear this made you feel beautiful, that’s my goal for everyone to see their body as perfect because it is 😉
I have that fleshy look, but my bust is very small. I am definitely more of a pear than hourglass shape. Could a soft natural still have that type of proportion? Edit: oh no, as soon as you described the coats I felt like I can’t be this type at all 😅
@@myleneamelieWell, all the soft jackets and coats you showed in the videos would make me look disheveled like I’m wearing a bathrobe at home. Especially since I gained weight (I’m 73kg at a height of 166cm) nothing seems to look right.
I can't tell if I'm a soft natural or a soft dramatic. I'm moderately tall (at 171.5cm/just under 5'8), moderately wide (in my shoulders, ribcage and hips), moderately curvy and long limbed, and have to accommodate some of these aspects in most of my clothes. According to some I'm slightly too tall for soft natural, and my small but wide hands exclude me from being a soft dramatic... And sometimes the more I try to look into the differences, the more confused I get :D ETA: When I gain weight, I gain it fairly evenly, and it usually settles on my hips, bum, thighs and boobs first, before it settles in my midsection. But almost regardless of my weight, I'll still have a soft dip between my ribcage and hips.
The biggest difference I find is how clothing feels on your hips! SD look good with curve hugging (tighter fits around their hips) whereas SN feel like a sausage with tight fitting clothes around their hips, they often feel like it makes them look wider. This can be general rule, but I’ve heard this more often than not when it came to both of those clients. But to make any kind of analysis, I’d have to see you! I can’t type base off of descriptions since it’s more of an overall appearance then individual features and it’s more of visual analysis☺️
Yes you do look good in jeans, but remember with Soft Naturals it’s all about unconstructed flow, so it’s about balancing tight jeans on the bottom with something flowier (has movement and openness) on the top. Every Soft Natural is different, so it’s about experimenting with it and finding what works for you. Generally speaking you want openness and softness (not tight and structured) around your shoulders and upper chest. Hope that helps!
What if i am from a place where people are generally shorter? I am 4'11" so really short but my features match the soft natural type and it does not match as much with any other type but you said that they can not be extremely petite so category am i even into?
@@Thebellreve she’s a flamboyant natural! Her really elongated limbs (and her long stature) is what we notice first, then he curves. And she doesn’t have a real hourglass shape, it’s still a bit more angular on her bottom half even if she’s extremely rounded in her chest. There’s a spectrum for every body type - and she happens to be a rarer FN type.
My shoulder width is 37 inches, my bust 35 , my waist 27 ,hips 38 and i have square face with soft femenine facial features and I am 164 cm tall but I'm confused if i am a soft natural or theatrical romantic
Exact height and body measurements are less relevant than the overall impression your body gives. SN are more sturdy looking with softness sitting on top and TR are delicate boned and generally more petite/narrow with lots of softness and only a little bit of angularity.
i'm so confused, i cannot for the life of me figure out wether i'm a soft natural or a romantic my charactheristics are EVEN and i cant find anyone else struggling with the same doubt 😢 no one ever compares the two
I hear you! I was there at one point very confused. I'll be doing comparisons between the body types in future videos, probably not till end of year or earl 2025! If you're really struggling, I offer online analysis - all my information is in my bio.
I am a SN and previously thought I was a romantic until I deep a deep dive on the differences. What helped me distinguish the two is WIDTH. If you are SN you will be very broad across the shoulders and upper ribcage...If you have this type of width, you are already aware of it! When trying on tops, you would find everything fits fine in chest waist etc but when you try to do a hugging motion (cross your arms in front) you feel extremely restricted across the upper back/armpit area. Romantics don't have this width across the shoulders, upper back and ribcage. Of course that area is wider than the waist in their case, but their upper body width is in proportion to their hips. Another clue is if your bottom is more wide and somewhat flatter, rather than excessively protruding/rounded. Looking at pictures of confirmed SN celebrities (Scarlett Johansson, J Lo etc) from the back, you will see this width. Again, any appearance of width in Romantics does not come from "breadth" of the upper back, but in ROUNDNESS of chest and hips. I am a SN with curvy chest and hips, so it gives me a more hourglass appearance, but the hourglass is not as defined as in the case of Romantics. Hope that helps! :D
