In my long career at a large tech company, many times I opined about the utter lack of seasons (this isn't true of the entire industry, just the niche I got stuck in). The modern economy is built on the false and ultimately destructive premise that every day can be harvest day... What nonsense! That one basic idea leads to lack of innovation and burnout. There is a time for resting, a time for planting, a time for growth, and time for harvest. Rinse and repeat. Ah, to live in an agrarian society where this cycle is fundamentally recognized and cooperated with. We think we are escaping nature via our technology, but we are so wrong about that. I love how this presentation provides unadulterated clarity about reality and how we can better exist within it.
I've gotten a similar revelation except I called it "everything comes to it's full glory and then fades out" and this happens in a cycle...the way you explained this concept is superb !
This is very true, great reminder thank you. I often remember the sine wave that the Sun tracks across the equator in a year, I would like to remember this more often.
I can see that clearly in my life. Looks like those cycles are going faster and faster lately. They also more painful every time I reach the "bottom". How to deal with it ? I think I am burnout now. Not easy I guess with 2 kids under 5.
I think: we are not loving expanded economy. We are more or less addicted to the expanded economy, otherwise we have to deal with ourselves... It's a running away from ourselves
