  • 2009 Chevy Malibu alternator replacement / upgrade. This goes for some Saturn, Chevy cobalt and a few other cars housing the Chevy 4 Cyl. The method shows how to remove without opening up the cooling system or removing the lower cover. *If your not familiar with the engine I suggest pulling the lower cover to make sure the belt is on the dampener.
    This is also a upgrade video why because power junkie. I went from the stock 130a to a CES 320a alternator. Great company to do business with. Customer service was unreal too! Nothing against other Alt. companies because there are some great ones out. Next build I plan on giving another company a try as well. Its all about support with me. No fan boy action this way

    Just did mine. Had to use a screwdriver to turn the bolt &socket off. Just took mount/ bolts off, unhooked alternator/ bolts. Put belt back on & reverse just as you said! You tha man. Easy peazy. Now ...to learn your bass moves😄

    Mines a '12 2.4 ecotec. How bout that serpentine belt? Taking it off in the morning so i can get back to things. I like your work & settled on it

    • @bigvell02
      @bigvell02  4 місяці тому

      To remove the serpentine belt there is a spot on the tensioner to put a 3/8 drive ratchet head or breaker. Belt tool is ideal but I can see you having great luck with just the ratchet as long as the handle is not too fat. You might have to loosen the filter box area not a big deal at all. Happy fixing 😎

    Do I have to remove the alternator just to get to the 12 volt power wire that runs over to fuse box and battery? I want to upgrade that thin wire with a thicker gauge, maybe 4 or 6 gauge, to make the cars electrical system better, but don't see how I can easily get to it.

    • @bigvell02
      @bigvell02  4 роки тому

      With a small wrench you might be able to pull it off. Just make sure you disconnect power of course 🙂. Just make sure if OFC

    • @bigvell02
      @bigvell02  5 років тому +1

      JOSUÉ I hear the alternators are a little on the weak side in the LS models. Right now I’m trying to figure out how to regulate it or at least trick the pcm to keep it on all the time.

    Have you had any issues with the 320 amp alt? I've asked some dealers and they recommend a safe range of 240-270 amps max.

    • @bigvell02

    I just got my alt for my 94 Burban but I am going to do the dual bracket and I'm hoping I can use my 320amp off my 2013 avalanche 5.3 as my second alt. Cause my 94 has a 5.7 in it and my other alt off my 5.3 wont fit in the factory location. So I bought a 370 mechman that is for the 5.7. Confused yet? Sry bro peace and bass
