this is exactly what the doctor ordered. I can’t believe how perfect this is. I’m ordering this now. Usually games like this ruin the feeling of exploration or have no leveling (just gear). Not this game. This is a perfect solo adventure experience. Holy crap this is so well designed and doesn’t look fiddly at all. You only mess with one or 2 components at a time, the layout makes sense, and there’s a D10 for combat and skill checks! So Lovely!
I had my first playthrough last night. Very Very fun. I got up to level 4 easily, my hero was scaling fine because I was going after plenty of red rooms and had some lucky loot drops, but then I got my hind quarters handed to me by a couple of level 4 monsters. Freakin’ Brutal. Can’t wait to play again tonight!
@@AlbertDanysh Received my copy, really nice! I also appreciate that the box is big enough to hold everything with the cards sleeved, including the expansion extras. Adventure awaits!
@@AlbertDanysh I have been enjoying this one for a few days already. Congratulations on this fantastic game. It's still in one of my tables and I play it whenever I have a break from work. Absolutely fun to play!
Hm. I'll have to check it out. One of my chief complaints if a lot of rougue-like tabletop games is modular boards that never consider that not everybody has a large playing space, and this game seems to combat that with a set design while still maintaining that randomness.
Good video. Pretty clear. Is it a requirement on every level to clear all the "red" spaces (or any other color), or can you take the quickest route to the stairs to the next level?
@@jdogcisco1 you could play that way. I recall when we tested that, it was more effort moving tokens around. Regardless of setup, you need to add or remove them as you go for each room you do. Placing them all up front, is double the work vs removing them all at the end of the level.
The video covers the 1st Ed version which is no longer available; however, we launched a Kickstarter for the 2nd Ed and it's in final production. We are still accepting pre-orders here: rogue-dungeon.pledgebox.com/preorder
i know this is an instructional video and i loke how you presented the rules so i understood how to play. i dunno, as for your strategy. . in that first trap room, you needed a 2 or less and rolled a 3 and then went on to say that you could have used 1 luck to modify the roll up or down by 1. I would have used a luck to change it to a 2, but then i dunno, i mean it was only the first room, are those 2 points of luck "supposed" to last you through all 5 floors? or is there a way to recover them or get more? then later you were fighting a wolf and a skeleton. you went on to explain that when fighting multiple momsters, you have to pick one to attack and then the other one adds a bonus to the defense. you chose to target the wolf that had 2hp and needs a 7 to hit and the skeleton aided it, making you need an 8, but the skeleton only had 1 hp and 3 defense. you could have easily defeated the skeleton first. . although i guess it's moot, since you rolled a 1, lol.
We appreciate your support for the game! Yes, for the this video what is shown is not necessarily the best "strategy". You ask some great questions and there is "strategy" in a lot of these type of choices in the game and that's what makes it fun. It may or may not be the best "strategy" to spend any Luck on the first or even second level. If I spend a Luck on that level 1 trap, then there may be the exact same situation on level 4 or 5 when I'm out of camping gear and my health is low and now I will not be able to change the roll. There are opportunities to get more luck throughout the game and you can always buy '1 Luck token' by spending 5 XP, but either way Luck is not easy to come by. I think mathematically, you are correct that it's probably better to attack the Skeleton first. The "best" order to fight monsters is an interesting game choice that is affected by many factors and the present game situation.
"....the skeleton only had 1 hp and 3 defense" Also, I'll clarify that if attacked first, the Skeleton would have an attack of 9 making it harder to hit than the Wolf at 8, but with only 1 Health as you mentioned.
Hello, I've found and pass a trapped Chest but it was in a persistent room. It's a bit weird not to discard it. I can understand Traps that are staying where they are, but the chest explosed or pass..shouldn't stay in a persistent place Why would I try to open it again ?
The "Trapped Chest" room is not persistent. And yes, you are correct, it wouldn't make sense to be able to encounter it again and again. If a room has a gem icon on it, usually on the right side above the text, it is persistent and not persistent if it does not have this icon on it.
