What a nice harvest!!
I am glad Fred like raspberries. Time to buy more freezer's.
We have a fourth one that I have refused to use, until now 😆. Things are getting out of control.
Lovely raspberries, jams, jellies vinegars, and pies yummy I'll take them over strawberries
Ohhhh, I did not think of raspberry vinaigrette.... never tried to make that before. Shall have to Google it lol. Thank you so much for the ideas.
I found black raspberries on my property and have been propagating them, it is my favourite fruit.
They have so much flavour for such a small berry. We love them.
Steph, just cover your raspberries with malt vinegar ,let them sit for two weeks ,strain and measure remaining juice add acup of sugar for every four cups of juice bring to aboil turn it off let cool and bottle keeps quite long time .
I make a dressing using 1cup vinegar, djon mustard to taste, salt and pepper 1/3cup of good quality oil give it a good shake pour on your salad. Good stuff
Do you put in posts and wire to keep them in your row?
Do you fertilize with compost ?
We should put the posts and wire in. It was the plan when we set it up and planted them. We just never got there. The rows have 3 feet between them, so it is manageable, but it would work better if we did it. As for fertilizing, we did fill the beds with composted manure before we planted them, which was 3 years ago now, so we are going to mulch them with some rabbit manure this fall. They are pretty heavy feeders and like to be mulched.
I bought some raspberries and it 12.00for ailb container so free is always good
Wow! We are doing pretty good then. So far we have harvested over 25 pounds and made juice, syrup and jam. We are certainly focussing on growing more fruit on the homestead as it is something that we really enjoy and it saves us a lot of money.
How you have raspberries all ready? Ours aren't producing yet this year.
We are about 8 days into harvesting. They will be pretty much done in another week, but we have preserved over 25 lbs already.
