In the US there is a tire rating stamped on the tire. The very best snow (and rain) tires have a stamp that looks like 3 mountain peaks and a snow flake. The ones I purchase are "All Season", so as you suggest there is no reason to have a summer and winter set. They wear faster probably, but I have found them to be very quiet and they have extraordinary wet and snow grip (no chains required). In California there are mandatory chain requirements when it is necessary. If you have AWD or 4WD and these rated tires, then in all but the worst conditions NO chains ae necessary. (There are three or four levels of chain requirement depending on conditions. I have used GT Radial and am currently using Vredstein Quatrac PRO and I can say they are amazing. They handle well, are quiet and comfortable on the Audi A3 Quattro. The very best snow and rain tires that I have experienced. (No I don't work in the advertising or tire industry).

Do you mean you are driving with “All Weather Tires” not All-seasons?
