Glad you liked it! I, more or less, took what we are now provided, and made it my own. I am a touch disappointed that what we get about the multiverse is compounded into just one page.. well.. two if you include the "map".
An alternate reality is useful for certain story plots because it integrates otherworld stories without disturbing the canon/authoritative stories. Recently they used resurrection as a means to have immortal characters and also there is eternal characters that are able to die and return again during the adventure and this has not appeared before. The alternate realities are real planets instead of imagined. If someone took an object to another reality and left it there, it will be there.
IMO I don't care much for Forgotten Realms cosmology. I prefer Greyhawk's or Mystara's. I don't mind house created cosmos as long as they aren't too foreign to the game.
as a non-native of this reality it's ... a unique vision of the structure of all realities people here seem to have. I admit I tend to favor a different structure of things. i'm not sure if different structures bias different peoples toward experiencing reality differently, it would be a worthy research for some arcane scholar.
I can verify that, yes, 100%, the structures are different from one reality to the next and that those from their base reality tend to be drawn towards their own familiar environments, however, I have witnessed alternate versions of oneself to find an affinity of realities other than their own to be comforting.
Can one travel from Eberon to Faerun, Grayhawk, or the Forgotten Realms? Are they Planets in separate universes all within the same plane? If I’m sent to a random place on the material plane, could I technically end up on a distinct world within the material plane?
Toril is the name of the planet that the setting of Forgotten Realms takes place on. Faerun is within the Forgotten Realms (it's the main continent). Eberron started off as a dragon but turned into a planet, but also within the setting of Eberron are 12 additional planets (I think it's 12). Oerth is the name of the planet that the setting of Gryyhawk takes place in. All of it is a part of the Material Plane. In our terms they would be their own "galaxy" but in older editions of D&D they were "encased" in crystal spheres separated by what was called the "phlogiston" and "wild space". But there is a big big difference between what we consider to be a galaxy and how it's presented in D&D, instead of a galaxy comprising billions of worlds, it's the spheres that contain the planets. For example, Krynnspace (where Dragonlance is set) is made up of many planets, Sirrion, Reorx, Krynn, and others, as well as moons, and it's own sun. These are all "encased" in a crystal sphere (but you can pass through it). Travel between the planets is typically done via a spelljammer ship, although there are many other methods.
Are the worlds connected to the Radiant Citadel considered to be on the Material Plane, or are they planets that are entirely within the Etherial Plane?
I miss the energy planes being part of the inner planes, along with the quasi-elemental planes, the phlogiston, and the Domains of Dread being an isolated demiplane. Also, you're just trolling us with your pronunciation of the name of the City of Doors, right?
@@gamemasters I've been thinking that you can keep the phlogiston as a hyperspace that can only be entered or exited only when far from a system's primary, like the hyperspace in Larry Niven's Known Space stories.
yep, they 100% exist here. Hit my discord, I just posted a pdf link that Wizards has on their site that specifically goes on Dominaria and how it fits in (and where).
Best introduction to the Multiverse (of D&D/MtG?) that I've ever heard.
Its a slightly different style than I normally do.. but I wanted to do something a touch different :)
Well researched keep exploring the multiverse. Keep rocking rolling and keep rolling 20🐉🐉🐉👍
sadly.. it's just a small section in the new book :(
Nice explanation of the Multiverse.

I reember those old diagrams. These look good too.
heh yeah, the old diagrams were cool looking

I'm kindav surprised that WotC hasn't tried to go all in on an alternate reality setting yet..

Very nice

Is The Outlands part of the Material Plane? Where does it sit in relation to the Material Plane?
The Outlands are a part of the Outer Plane, separate from the Material Plane.
Are the worlds connected to the Radiant Citadel considered to be on the Material Plane, or are they planets that are entirely within the Etherial Plane?
the worlds themselves are in the Material Plane, the Radiant Citadel, however, is located in the Etherial Plane.

I too miss the phlogiston.. but trolling? nah. This video was trolling it : ua-cam.com/video/heybD5s3BTI/v-deo.htmlsi=x_0N-ILDtyeUFAkR

:)
Where are Dominaría, Myrrodin, and Phyrexia on this map? Are they meant to exist in this context?
Yes they absolutely do.
yep, they 100% exist here. Hit my discord, I just posted a pdf link that Wizards has on their site that specifically goes on Dominaria and how it fits in (and where).
bump 🤛
rock and roll!
