The Super Mario Bros. Movie Aired on TV Without Nintendo's Approval

- Nintendo and Illumination's The Super Mario Bros. Movie is still playing in theaters around the world, but a channel in Argentina has broken the rules. A week after The Super Mario Bros. Movie's release, it played on this TV channel without any permission from Nintendo or Universal. Will there be any consequences for the leak? How'd it even happen in the first place?

Applause for those who managed to catch the entire film while watching TV.

I wish I saw it I already seen the movie in the second day it came out but I wanna watch it again I have seen it three times
My friend is from Argentina and yes, he did watch the entire movie lol

According to Nintendo, if you broadcast their movie on TV, I believe you get put on their Death Row immediately. I pity whoever was responsible for this. ☠️
Can They air this movie on Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon cuz Nickelodeon was airing more illumination movies

Crazy how something like this could even happen. Nintendo really going to doom them to all eternity.
Days later we will wake up and Argentina has been annexed by Nintendo
When Lionel Messi see this on TV
Piracy in Latin America is part of our culture, that's why the channel sees it as a little mischief. They're in for a rude awakening
Nintendo sues everyone, yet they let this happen.
Nintendo: Can we blow up Argentina?
Nintendo Employee: Sir, not legally, but yes.
Nintendo: THAN DO IT!
As an Argentine I will give you a quick explanation of why this happened, the Gen TV channel is part of what you would call ''Local Channels'' and let's say that the laws for ''local channels'' are not ''so strict'' or rather ''do not exist'', the national channels obviously cannot do this because, well, they have alliances with the studios or were bought by large companies (for example, the Argentine channel Telefe was bought by Paramount, so if they want they can give the nickelodeon shows or other things from the studio), but the locals don't since they are not ''seen by the Studio radar'', and that is why Channels like Gen TV can broadcast illegal movies, but after this, I think it will come a big warning for THOSE channels. update: I clarify before that NOT all local channels do this, many follow the rules but it is the low budget ones that do this.
They got way too confident and decided to step on NINTENDOS toes.
Good work, let everybody be able to digitally steal that big fat head mario ‘movie’ because in general nintendo did had normally nothing to do with movies so why would they think now to make big money with it,so let’s do it let’s air that mario ‘movie’ hahaaa🤣🤣🤣
@@johneygd I would like to clarify now that NOT ALL local channels broadcast movies illegally, many follow the rules, but there are few (especially the low budget ones) that do this kind of thing, because if you review the channel's programming it is very noticeable the lack of interesting content or lack of money to produce their own content that is not news and believe me that even in my city there is a channel that also does that, so welcome to L A T I N - A M E R I C A and especially A R G E N T I N A.
@@theworm7156 I will laugh a lot if they make a cease and desist, in fact this does NOT have to be done and I already know that the regulators are going to be more stricter with the local channels deleting several channels in the process.

Imagine this in 2 years
Company: let’s air the Mario Movie on our channel
Nintendo: *10 million dollar lawsuit*
Well, people in Argentina can finally watch the Super Mario Bros movie without leaving their houses to go to a theater or paying for a streaming service, they can just watch the movie for free on live tv. How did that channel get away with airing that movie without Nitendo's permission?!!?! 😧
a *LOT* of local latin american TV channels air movies illegally
Sounds depressing, This movie deserves the full theatrical experience.
I once saw a comment on the spanish dubbed version of Evangelion in Internet Archive where the official account of a venezuelan TV channel asked for permission to stream this on their channel 💀
Things get leaked online, and with how easy it is to pirate stuff now it’s a no brainer.
But having other countries comply with legal orders is very difficult next to impossible.

The same thing happened in an far region of Chile with the Penguins of Madagascar movie. That movie was still on theaters and I catch it in TV, in a really small channel.
But we keep it a secret lol
Would be sweet if Illumination gets interested in an idea of a TV show as a Netflix or Peacock series. I hope to see the Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel and to know that a Nintendo cinematic universe will be coming!
I'd prefer if it aired on Nickelodeon instead.
I think the Super Mario Bros Movie will stream it on both streaming services such as Netflix and Peacock
@@RowanRoblox614 And then next year it may premiere on Cartoon Network if that channel is still around by then.
They should air it on Nickelodeon cuz Nickelodeon is airing more illumination movies
There were plans of a Zelda TV Show for Netflix, but it got scrapped, maybe they can revive the project?
Something similar happened right here in Guatemala. There was a TV channel in which the Encanto movie was shown, exactly, a week after it screened. I don’t know if anyone has ever talked about it but they never got in trouble.

Coincidence the character is called like brawl stars amber HEHE,(out of theme)
It’s not based, they are holding back the movie’s potential at the box office
Given how Nintendo handles leaks because they got a gamestop employee fired because the employee leaked the switch oled tears of the kingdom model so Nintendo will definitely react to this
All that employee did was predict that the TotK OLED was being stocked soon, they wouldn't be alive today if they had actually leaked it.
I love how we've become so aware of the fact Nintendo is an abysmal corporation, to the point where we meme on it to think they're more threatening than they actually are
I feel bad for that GameStop employee, though. Leaks are damaging to a brand, but you gotta admit they took it too far lmao
@@HarvestHollows But they didn't take it too far, all they did was a prediction, not a leak. (unless something happened to the people who actually leaked the OLED pics last year)
The film is already near a billion dollars grossed, this leak won’t mean a blessed thing.
Not to mention, it’s very difficult to have other countries comply. Most of the time that only happens when a fugitive for something as serious as murder flees.
I know they say eventually movies are on tv for free but this is a bit too early
Imagine the person who managed to record it.

I'm from Argentina, I remember when my family and I used to have this channel on our TV, it was removed later for some reason. This channel used to broadcast movies that were only in theaters at the time, even airing them a day or two before their premiere.
I remember watching Black Widow and Fast and Furious 9 before they were released.
WOW. JUST WOW.
It's AntenaTV-worthy
I honestly dont get how thats even possible.
Two videos by you in one day? Neat.
My question is how the hell did they get ahold of the full movie without like, it being a recording from a theatre. How’d they get a digital copy
amazon video i guess since you can buy the movies for early access
Probably some dude from the cinema uploaded it to a extremely shady website. My brother actually downloaded the full movie on his laptop
It’d be cool if the coincide with the film being released on Blu-Ray/DVD that they air the film on TV over here in America.
It'll probably take 2 or 3 years for it to air on TV, just look at the Sonic the Hedgehog movie for example
The film first played in theaters in early 2020, and hit TV channels in late 2022
Not, It was recorded with a professional camera and the film was obtained in Argentine cinemas.
I love to have the super mario bros movie on Bly-Ray/DVD if I only knew when it'll come!
Maybe on high end channels like HBO.
The mario movie dvds will be available in stores soon

In fact, what happened with the Mario movie also happened with "The Puss In Boots: The Last Wish" and GenTV's social networks are posting memes about it, acknowledging that Nintendo can sue them and that people only know them for what they know. Step with the Mario movie.
I saw the mario movie on this other website but decided to watch the movie with my friends in the cinemas
It's a pirated version that aired, so the FBI has been notified about the situation.

Would the FBI have any power in Argentina though? I doubt it.
They likely won’t even bother.
Many people have lost money overseas in cat fishing scams yet nothing was ever done.

In my country, the local tv channels blatantly air pirated Hollywood movies regularly. They didn't even bother to hide the logo of the pirate website they got it from. But i guess this case is different, since the movie hasn't even released outside of theaters yet...

I honestly can't believe how this could be possible... I'm not from Argentina myself, but I live in a state in my country that borders it. Also, I'm not an expert on Argentine television, as I only know the five channels that broadcast on a national level (Televisión Pública, Elnueve, Telefe, Eltrece and América), as well as some channels that are owned by the same companies who own the national channels. I've seen some local stations in my country broadcast unauthorised movies and television series, but it's incredibly rare where I live, and it's mostly reserved for poorer stations in the northern portion of the country. But the most insane thing is... There actually was a national channel in my country that broadcast unlicenced content!... Though it's almost exclusively very old content, like from the 60s and below. But back to this Argentine television station. This is insane, and for a channel this size, it will be unlikely for Nintendo to find and sue them... And if they do, the channel might probably go extinct.
Whoever did this took a big risk by doing this…
"You might as well lie down and accept your fate, because you can't escape them"
Not if I Ice myself and make it look like an Accident.
