Who are you kidding Lee? As far as I am concerned ,and I watch your videos for few years now, EVERY breed is your FAVORITE breed .Thank you for all you do !!!!!❤
Lee, I suffer from chronic anxiety and depression, you are my go to when I’m feeling low. Watching your video on starting the sanctuary made me think the most consistent thing in my life are my dogs, my two rescues always by my side and love me unconditionally
Have PTSD and I watch this channel for a pick me up. Watch other sites with dogs, horses, calm seas, which I need so badly. Thanks Lee. Sorry I live in Indiana and it does make me a little sad that you are far away. You are an inspiration to others who really need your happy attitude.😊
May God pour out His abundant Love upon you and comfort you during your sojourn in this troubled world. It’s harder for sensitive souls and some of us endure difficult circumstances too. May His Peace and protection also be with you.
I grew up with Goldens and then had several of my own as a young adult. My husband always wanted a Dane so we got our precious Dublin. Couldn't *believe* just how different a breed could be. My Goldens were little people wh@res. Loved and trusted everyone, took food from anyone etc etc. The Dane literally did not care about anyone outside the family. Would not take food from anyone but us. One time it saved him and us. He was still very young - maybe 10-11 months. We were hiking back to the trailhead - he and the Goldens got to the car first - we were still uphill looking down so we could see the whole thing. Three young men tried to get him into a panel van - probably using food. They drove up to him, holding open the side door, verbally coaxing him and even slowly rolling the van anticipating having to take off quickly. Thank goodness he wouldn't go too near them. My heart still pounds thinking about it and it was more than 30 years ago! Lots of stories about how family-centric he was but that was a time it really mattered. He lived to be 10. Gone way too soon.
@@AnneCaulder its better to have loved and lost than never loved at all. My son died at age 12 but I am blessed with the years I had him. But I do understand how you feel.
@@AnneCaulderMy 110 lb-er lived to 11 and could maybe gone longer but she had Lyme's. I would never let that stop me from having another one, that's how special they are. 💖
My brother has had five (5) Great Danes and they were all attention getting dogs to strangers. None of them suffered from separation anxiety or needed to be crated. What they did have in common was begging for food 24/7 and sleeping in the bed. They also love to sit on you when your in a chair and they immediately bark when they hear someone at the door. It also hurts like crazy when they step on your feet with their huge feet with those huge nails. If you let them in or out to go potty, you better get out of the way because they will mow you over. Their tails are also like riding crops if they strike you in the face while wagging their tales.
My husband grew up with Great Danes, Newfies, and Bernard’s. When we were finally able to have our own dog, I bought him a blue Dane puppy. Since then, we are on our six and seventh Dane. Only one other has been a purchased puppy, all the rest have been rescued. They are wonderful companions and great dogs, so love seeing yours on the beach. Will be looking for another rescue soon sadly as our girl has inoperable cancer and will be limited by her ability to enjoy life and our boy is going to be heartbroken along with us. Sad to see so many needing homes. Thank you for everything you do 💕
Rescued Danes generally have separation anxiety, and as you said they pick their person. I've raised Danes 41 years in August, I've worked with Dane rescues since 2001. I can confidently say well bred Danes from preservation breeders don't always have the anxiety, but it can be prevalent. You're doing a great job with these Great dogs! Thanks for all you do!
I love Great Danes! When I was a kid we got a beautiful Dane. Storm was so funny and such a gentle giant. We had a little beagle basset hound and she was the alpha over storm. I will never forget when my sister spilt her ice cream and our Great Dane went to go lick it and little Millie growled and Storm took the kitchen table with her when she was running away. I had both of them in my twin size bed at 13. Storm was so amazing and I am still hoping I can have one someday! Thanks for showing how beautiful these babies are because so many are seen as scary or too high maintenance. Everything you do with Asher House, along with the team is beautiful!
It brightens my day to watch you with your dogs, knowing they are so happy and that they bring you such joy. It’s just so contagious. Thank you, Lee.❤🐶🐕🐕🐩❤
Great to see them playing. I had a Dane bitch, the same brindle colour as Roger. I remember her running full speed at me on the beach. Normally, she would swerve, just before reaching me. One day she didn’t, and I went flying into the air☺️ She was sooo sorry that she had hit me. She was a great family pet, and an excellent guard. She slept next to my little sons bed. Love what you do for your furbabies.👍🙏
If you have not seen Pickles rescue please check it out! 😍 Hard to believe he was so small when Pickles was rescued! One of my favorite Asher House videos has to be the video with Roger and Lee's dad when he came to visit! 😅 ♥️🐾
Yes that was hilarious. I think Roger probably did a scooby doo and looked behind to see what Lees Dad was scared of. I mean Danes can be big scare babies at times surprised he didn't jump into Lees dads arms like scooby Doo did to Shaggy 😄
We just rescued a St Dane 😊 His Dad is a Great Dane and his Monma is a St Bernard . He is 12 weeks old. When we got him he was underweight but he seems to be filling out nicely now. He’s already grown so much 🐶🐶
I have had Goldens all my life. I have family members who have Great Danes. They are the goofiest dogs. I played with them from young puppy on. When I go visit they insist on sitting on my lap. They are so funny. 😂 Lee, I remember when you got Roger. You brought him into your house and he sat on the couch like a human. I still laugh at that!
We have7, currently. I’ve had 26 in my lifetime. No, I’m not 200 years old! You can’t ever have JUST one! Like you, I’m seeing more and more people giving up their Danes. Such a tragedy. In my experience, there is NOT a better breed. Wish I could send you some pics. Ours have , literally, a football field to run. We have a log house with 31 acres on top of a mountain in West Virginia. Years ago, the mountain top was lopped off to make the school’s football field. Besides the rescued Danes, we have an additional 17 rescues/ strays. People say we’re crazy. What do you think!?!? Lmao

LOVE your Harl!!! I have had Great Danes all my adult life (am 77 now) and I adore them! I have had as many as 7 at a time when I was fostering and it was heaven! I used to transport for two Dane rescues, one in Denver and the other in El Paso. I transported between the two and also took up transport legs. All but two of my Danes were rescues and they were awesome! I lost my last rescue boy back in 2016 when he was 10 and I miss him so much. Now, my son (who I live with) says we can have dogs again beginning late this year to early next year when we buy our own place here in NW Washington State. This would be the perfect place for Danes with the water/beach so close to us. My Danes generally lived to over 10 years of age. I am hoping to find a rescue Dane or two when we can adopt!

I LOVE a Great Dane. I didn't know their lifespan was so short. That's good to know bout over-exercising them too. Gr8 vid . . . love seeing them enjoying their new 'free' life.
Just think, the Great Dane adventure really started with Roger and has grown from there!! It's absolutely amazing to see these dogs grow, and like Lee said "Reverse in age"!! It really is remarkable to see❤

To see them playing together 😊makes me happy. When I was a little girl my uncle had a great dane named Tony he was a beautiful very large dog, my uncle would let me take him his food. Loved that dog.
Such a happy video! I've known only one Great Dane very well; his name was DeeCee and he lived with my friend and chiropractor. What a lovely sweetheart DeeCee was! Its been over 30 years but I'll never forget that dog!

Lee we used to own Danes. Our second Dane lives to 13! As long as you give them good food, and like you said give them exercise and just take care of them they will live long! Love the videos
My first rescue was a lab dane mix. He was a dane with lab fur and absolutely beautiful inside and out. He was 13 when it was time. Any rescue regardless of breed is "Purebred Rescue" and if loved and cherished as a family member, you will be the one who is truly rescued. ❤️ Asher House and all within the rescue family. Xo
My husband was an AKC Breeder of Merit for Danes. If you do health testing and purchase from someone who does health testing, Danes can live to 12. My last one was 12 + when she passed. She had a great life. Today I have her daughter who is just about 11 and doing great! My male is just over 5 and he weighs 235 lbs. I'm trying him on a diet because he is too big right now. I love the breed.
Really tired of the "they don't live that long" nonsense. Breeding and their care makes all the difference. Many dogs die young for a variety of reasons. You never know. They're all totally worth the love they give us. 💖
We believe three factors help longevity, feed high quality low ingredient food staying away from wheat, exercise and making sure to stop feeding puppy food around six months of age so they don’t grow to quickly b
Many years ago I had a friend with a Great Dane that had separation anxiety - I remember her eating the center out of their mattress and just a big chicken. I always visited with my 2 dogs, so she knew I was a 'dog person' but it took about 6 months before she quietly came up beside me & put her head under my hand for me to pet her for the first time - after that she was like a huge lap dog with me! What a delight she was!
Love Great Danes ❤. They are just big, goofy love bugs that unfortunately just don’t live long enough. Enjoy your brood Lee. They are amazing and Pickles is so big now😊
I would LOVE to have Pickels!! I've had 2 Danes in the past. A harlequin and a brindle. Lovely babies!! I'm 68 now so I'm afraid of that father time issue. 😢
Hi Lee...they are so beautiful and they are so happy...Thank you for all that you and your staff do for all these beautiful animals that you have rescued....Love Love Love the Asher House❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It is true, Danes are chill when in a nice stable home, and do not need excessive exercise. They are friendly, goofy, affectionate. And would like to sit in your lap, which is hilarious.
I have had Danes all my life and they are the absolute best. Good with children and other pets. If you have an aggressive one there is something wrong, possibly inbreeding. I love seeing you save these beautiful creatures.
Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes, and Great Danes love you not just with their eyes but with their full soul...that is why they are prone to separation anxiety, as they are constantly looking for love...Being together with a Dane, they harm nobody, but being apart, they feel like extinguishing themselves. They are the type of dogs that can swing from one emotion to another very easily. They just need affection and love♥️♥️ the more the better...a close British friend of ours had a few Great Danes back in the UK. He was an expert on Danes, and he used to be the President of the UK Great Danes Association. I had the chance to meet them many times, but the bond between his latest two and him was so strong, that when he divorced his wife the dogs refused to live with his ex. They lived in Hungary, too, but he moved back to the UK with the two beautiful Danes. Huge placid dogs...🐾♥️🐾♥️...Have a great day on that lovely beach! Hugs to All Z ♥️🤍💚🇬🇧🐾🐾🐾🫶
We just rescued a female 1 yr old Great Dane. We're her 3rd home. She's turning out to be the sweetest dog. Just my husband and I and I do EVERYTHING to take care of her....she's happy to be with me but when my hubby gets home I don't exist LOL!! Separation anxiety is her biggest problem. Getting her spayed and stomach tacked next month (prevent bloating). Love her to pieces!! Because of her size tall and 110 lbs, I'm very careful around her, I'm definitely a senior and don't want to accidentally fall and break something!! Great dog!
I remember when Lee rescued Pickles and how tiny he was then - that doesn’t seem too long ago and now he’s huge! I’m so happy to see him and all the rest doing so well! I love these videos where we get to see the dogs running free and having fun 🥰
Yes, Lee!! Great Danes are the TRUE MEANING!! Of Man's Best Friend!! You Can Learn A Lot From Them!! You Do So Much For Them!! Thank You for everything that you do!!❤😊❤😊!!
All these dogs had an amazing time at the beach. Your dedication to all these animals in your sanctuary means so much to them. You let them know you love them & they will be well taken care of. This means so much to them. They are so happy to enjoy their life.
I appreciate how much Lee talks to us and teaches us but I also love love LOVED watching him play with the dogs while someone else held the camera!!! So special, thank you!
I remember when you first rescued Roger..and how big he was compared to all your others ..how PomPoms moved him from the water bowl when she wanted a drink 😂..your dad couldn't get over his size ! Groot is looking much better..he has put on weight and Pickles is looking well.. yes unfortunately they don't usually live a long life just because the heart finds it so hard getting blood to the extremities of the body..how beautiful ig looks there Lee...and seeing the waves and hearing them crashing is just so very relaxing..add that to all your wonderful dogs and your good self 😘 and its the perfect video 🇬🇧💕✝️🙏👏👍🐾🐕🐾🐕🐾🐕🐾🐕🇺🇸
Lee, you are saving dogs, but this human needed your healing vibes this morning. I've been sick for a week and watching this video made me feel great on my first day out of bed.Thank you to Asher House, you and all the pooches.
I am now 73 years old, I have haf 6 great danes in my lifetime, A more beautiful dog you will not see My last boy Shadrach died 5 years ago, I sobbed for 3 months straight after he passed away, he lived a good long life for a dane, 13 years, and I still think about him everyday! They are such a big presence in your life! such a loving gentle breed!
P.S. I have an 17 year old puggle (rescued 16 years ago) and a rescued pocket bully. It’s important that they have a more chill vibe for my household. The right fit is important for everyone. Much Love and appreciation to y’all!
They are all gorgeous! I didn’t freaking recognize Pickles, OMG. He grew so fast😮, same size as Roger pretty much! I love big dogs🤗! Thank you Lee! Beautiful video!!
@@thisrandomlife619 Danes grow like weeds. There were points when my Danes were putting on a pound a day. You can almost see them growing. It's crazy. Both my Danes were roughly 12ish lbs at 8 weeks, 30 lbs by 12 weeks, and 80 lbs by 6 months.
Every dog should have that kind of life!! So many are depressed out of boredom (studies are done in many countries on that topic these days), home alone for too many hours, only getting very little quality time with their families, and the same old potty breaks type of "walk" around the same block, EVERY SINGLE DAY. No positive sensorial stimulation, no socialization, no freedom ever. Sometimes, I feel we don't deserve them (same goes for cats, who are so misunderstood). Thank you again, Lee and your wonderful team, for your dedication and truly unconditional love for them, furry friends.
I've had Danes and I love them. The Danes at the rescue are so beautiful. I've watched Roger for a long time now, he is such a cutie! Pickles really grew up fast, wow! Thanks Lee for taking them in. My heart breaks for them all.
One of the best breeds. Brother was a breeder. So lovey and loyal. Excellent family pets. My sister had one named Emma. Omg 25 yrs later we’re still talking about her haha. Just last night we laughed talking about her sleeping on my waterbed haha. I saw her eating raspberries off the bush, with her lips, through the fence lol. They are expensive to take good care of but what you get is soooo worth it.
It's the breading and the artificial dog food. Back in Poland 40 years ago I was obsessed with great danes, I got one and came with her to Canada, and they lived 14, 16 years, but we had to cook their food ! I still cook food for my dogs now :)
We rescued a Great Dane mix and she has been the best dog I’ve ever had! I love her so much and I believe she loves me just a little more! If you are someone craving love, Great Dane are the way to go!!!❤❤❤

There’s nothing better than watching animals just having the best time of their lives ❤
Great Danes are our favorites. We have had three rescues. The first 215# lived 12.5 years, second 100#, 12 years still going strong, puppy 120#.
We have two Danes and I hope we make it to 12 years, that’s encouraging to hear!
🎶 There is nothing like a Dane 🎶 🐾🎶 Thanks Lee & ALL the AH staff
Nothing in the world 😂
Very clever!😅😊❤
Heh I like your musical reference. And yes Danes are awesome.
Love Great Danes ❤. They are just big, goofy love bugs that unfortunately just don’t live long enough. Enjoy your brood Lee. They are amazing and Pickles is so big now😊
@@RockPaperHammer There is nothing you can name that is anything like a Dane!
It's really cool to see the dogs' joy, man, thank you for your love for these special creatures! 🇧🇷
So good to see you having a great time on the beach.
I love the way they lollop along. They’re gorgeous dogs 🥰
What beautiful and graceful dogs, so happy to be with Dad at the beach
I could watch them all day! Glorious!
To all my fellow dog lovers : saw the movie Arthur the King today. It's WONDERFUL!!
What a joyous time for the doggies. They're so happy!
I would LOVE to have Pickels!! I've had 2 Danes in the past. A harlequin and a brindle. Lovely babies!! I'm 68 now so I'm afraid of that father time issue. 😢
LOVE LOVE LOVE That your showing so much more of the dogs at play.!!!
I love Great Danes, they have such wonderful personalities...they are sweet, funny and just a joy to be around.
It's so beautiful to see how happy they are and having so much fun!
Love watching them run by the water. They are loving it.
Pickles is such a great pet name. Your Pickles shows such a love of
life. Love your videos 😊
I know that what all of you do is not easy, is it times very stressful, and is frequently very sad, but I am so glad you all do it.
These gentle giants are so lovable. It's so enjoyable to see the dogs having fun on the beach and in the waves.
I grew up with a huge brindle Great Dane. As a child, I was looked after by the most patient, loving carer.
Great dog!
Danes are Sooo sensitive and thoughtful.
My Joey was my heart dog.
Pickles is so big and beautiful.❤❤❤
All these dogs had an amazing time at the beach. Your dedication to all these animals in your sanctuary means so much to them. You let them know you love them & they will be well taken care of. This means so much to them. They are so happy to enjoy their life.
I love that you have a Groot! I rescued my baby Groot from South Coast Humane in Bandon almost a year ago. Thank you for all you do!!
Love their slick coats. Gorgeous animals.
I appreciate how much Lee talks to us and teaches us but I also love love LOVED watching him play with the dogs while someone else held the camera!!! So special, thank you!
FANTASTIC VIDEO! I love ALL the FURBABIES at The Asher House! Thank you for saving them! Gid bless ALL of you!!!!! 🥰🙏💕🤗❤️😊
Those four GDs were a treat to watch, joyously lolloping along the beach, tails curled up into the sea breeze. Such fun.
Roger is a hoot - he's a cheeky, happy boy. Love watching the dogs playing at the beach. They really have a fantastic time. ⛱🌞
Roger looks AMAZING! I remember when you rescued him......weren't sure he'd make it........LOOK at him Now! GOD BLESS ASHER HOUSE❤🙏🐾
I love seeing Roger again, he's one of my favorites❤
These are the happiest Great Danes I've ever seen🐶❤️
Today is my birthday and what a wonderful gift to see Roger. Had to go back to when you rescued Roger. I couldn't believe my eyes. 😊❤
The Asher house love you so much ❤❤❤
Lee, you are saving dogs, but this human needed your healing vibes this morning.
What a joy to see them all romping and splashing happily in the ocean. You are a blessing to each and every dog that comes home with you, Lee❤
It’s so nice to see tails wagging constantly. The doggos are in doggie heaven. Thanks for caring for these wonderful creatures. Cheers!
It’s like watching bunch of goofy colts. So beautiful!
ahhhh...These babies, what a life!!! Your love & care, Sir Lee, is what extends & makes their lives a joy!!!
I had 3 rescued Danes some years ago. They are my favorite breed. :)
A beautiful thing to see, pups playing freely in the surf and on the sand with their person 🐾💕
I love Great Danes. They look like they are enjoying life. Lee and the Asher House for all you do. I love you ❤
God Bless you Lee in all you do for our wonderful companions!!!
I had been wondering where Pickles was. I didn't realize he was so big already.
I love Great Danes.
If you are someone craving love, Great Dane are the way to go!!!❤❤❤
They are very sweet and docile for such large souls.
💚
