I remember being told "Brick huts are usually made by groups of people" And by the look of things i can see why. Its hard work!
And here Chad is doing it with pretty much his bare hands and determination! Hell yeah.

Yeah, it would be nice to have help. Oh well. Story of my life. If I wanted to do something I generally always had to do it myself.... Yes, the heater will work as an oven for cooking. The opening is large enough to place my new cooking pots in it.

The thing that impressed me the most when it came time for you to put the mortar on the side of the first of those two huge fireplace capstones is that you didn't get the mortar too dry, and you didn't get it too wet. The adobe brick was a bit dry, but the mortar hung just fine in place while still being malleable once squashed onto the brick surface. That's a skill not everyone practices & masters.

When you literally have handled several tons of mud in the past four years you get to know mud pretty well. If it has enough clay then it will easily stick to a vertical wall. The clay content is more important than the water content in this case.

Hey Mr. Zuber this is becoming a really nice design. I noticed that you have cracks in your fingertips in this video. What have you put in mud to damage your hands?. Have you added ground up shell or ground up limestone?. I've never seen mud do that too hands before.

Hi John, and thanks for your comment! Congratulations on having so much acreage. You can do a lot with that. I don't know what the landscape looks like nor what kind of vegetation you have but yucca leaves are excellent for washing. I use them all the time. You pound a leaf to release the juices and then you roll the fibers up in your hand, dip them in water and then quickly roll them back and forth between your hands. That will clean your hands really good!... You are 40, so young! Take good care of you health (clean food and exercise) and you will be able to go a long time. Loneliness, I guess you can just get used to be alone. You can always drive back to visit your kids. Start out by just taking short trips out there and working out there to see if you really want to do it.

Looking forward to seeing it work. This was a large portion of the hut, and will really be enjoyable not only in the heat it produces, but in its looks. It looks fantastic! Can not think of anything but the use of your hands in this project. Really impressed at how well your hands have held up. That is a lot of work, but the finished product looks great , and very sturdy and durable. This hut will be around for a long time to give shelter from both the cold and heat. I can picture a fire in the firebox and the light playing on the wall, bench and mantle. It will be absolutely beautiful.

You invented an ordinary Russian oven. We have been heating houses with such stoves for more than a thousand and a half years. If you make a niche in your furnace with a flat bottom, about 50x50 centimeters, connected to a common chimney. You will have the opportunity to cook food in this oven as in an oven. I heated the oven, also lit a fire in this small 50x50 room, then, after carefully warming up and removing the coals from there, you can bake bread and cook fish in it, for example, as if it were an oven.

This is great! I hope that it works well for you. I plan to build something similar soon. I've heard that venting out of the side of a building can make weird pressure pockets in windy conditions and cause smoke back into the hut. I've always heard that you need to have a chimney that extends over the roofline.

Must have been so fun to get up there at the end. 😆
Also, some good flexible but still semi rigid bush sticks
added together tied with rope should make a decent broom.
I believe you made one of those before. I could be mistaken.
That is looking so good, funny how Inspector Fly always brings
his buddies around to inspect your work. At least you have a
Forman there. Too bad he is flyby night. I will see myself out now. Lol

@@ChadZuberAdventures Me too! Free heat, free cooking! No soot on your pots. The beauty of a sealed stove is it will create even cooking. No burnt food inside your pot. Heat bouncing off the top mimics a heat diffuser. That's what you put on top of a stove to barbeque, and for your pot to stop soot. :) Keep up the great work!
