Ah yes. My favorite Mario game collection. Super Mario Bros. All Stars, which comes with the games Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, Doki Doki Litterature Club Plus, and Super Mario Bros 3.
Am I really gonna rewatch all of these by listening to it while at work?

I thought that SMB2 Jp version was not released outside of Japan because it was disappointing because it looked the same and wasn't very fun. Though maybe you were just joking and I don't get it or something

I was very disappointed to find out early on-- that there was next to _no_ lore in this video...
Yet I still watched the entire video, lol. I don't think I had seen any of the original videos, so this compilation was a great way to catch up.
Now for some fun lore tidbits:
-The beginning of the video that says Mario Bros goes directly into Super Mario Bros is correct.
-World is a direct sequel to Bros 3. The manual states this, and the ghost ship is a crashed airship from that game.
-3D World's main collectibles --Green stars-- come from the green comet at the end of Galaxy 2
-Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is a prequel to 3D World
Now time for a fun fan theory, which is, "when does Super Mario Bros 2 (USA) take place?"
While the game happened within a dream, it takes place in a real dream _world_ as explained by the manual and title screen story. We meet characters like Birdo and Shy Guys. Now here's the fun part-- Birdo is born in Super Mario RPG. She hatches from an egg and meets Mario for the first time. Yoshi is also in Super Mario RPG.
So SMB2 could take place after SMW and SMRPG. RPG probably started development shortly after the time All-Stars released in Japan, which explains all the SMB2 (USA) influence in that game. Makes sense that SMB2 (USA) would take place at least after SMW, because the Japanese didn't get the until All-Stars.
Anyway, just some food for thought.

I will say that the mario movie succeeds as a "mario movie" but fails as an actual film. The pacing is off, the characters don't have any meaningful moments, and it feels like the movie just skips to the big picture instead of showing us the adventure there. 9/10 for Mario fans and kids. But for everyone else, this is around a 7/10. I really wish they had taken more cues from The Puss and Boots the Last Wish (Engaging Characters, Great Story, Better Pacing, Heartfelt Moments, etc)
