looks like you're with a good crew. Between you and Sam & Moriah on the PCT, and little skittle on the CDT life is good
Your mileage through those mountains and the weather conditions was amazing. Don’t blame you a bit for the zeros you needed the break. Take care of yourself and be safe !
A little tip from someone whose nose also suffers in the cold. Use a chapstick on it. Preferably one with Hemp (I use the one from the bodyshop) or aloe. The chapstick gives added moisture and makes a thin barrier, that protects the skin. Both Hemp an aloe helps healing.
And thank you for an inspiring series of videos. You guys are mean mileage machines through some tough terrains and weather's.
Hikergreatings from a Danish weekend warrior.
Seventy miles over three days in those conditions is amazing! You guys all are tough as nails. And you must be in the best physical condition of your lives, even if a bit beat up from all of it. ☺️. Well done!👍. Congrats on new shoes, lots of good food and sunshine. 🌞
Hello Karen 💕
that river crossing instantly made me say bad words out loud.
And now it's upper 70's low 80's here in PA this week!
Well done Rocket.... Awesome
Best wishes!
You guys are doing amazing. Glad you had taken a break. Take care of you. Keep trekking. 😀
Hi Julia. I am watching on trail. Love listening and it keeps me motivated. Thank you! Near the 600 mile marker!
You are amazing! You guys are doing fantastic and you crack me up 😂 with stuff you say on the videos! Enjoy your deserved zeros
Welcome to Mammoth Lakes, my home town, enjoy watching your journey.
Nice job Rocket! All the best!
Great job thanks. ✌🏻👊
Honestly I’m loving the content from the 0’s
It’s magic
Wow, wow, wow...you are all troopers going that distance in that amount of time. Good for you taking a triple zero. John from MI
You earned those 3 zeros. Great effort for all of you.
Keep going. Wow. You have hiked so many miles people could only dream of. You’re almost in Oregon, my home state.
triple zero -- i remember those days so fondly
Wow…. I hope nothing is congested with your breathing. I remember you said you have problems. But that area I have been. God I wish I could tell you the problems I’m having and that you taking me back some years is very inspirational. Wish I could be there in all that snow. Wanna do a nose dive of the roof like I did when I was a brat. Still my go to person for thru hikers. And using your links to help educate future hikers and my Daughter. She the main reason. But I’m glad you’ll be getting out of the cold altitudes. Take can’t wait for the next!!!!!!!

That crazy impressive miles for the Sierra! Take your zeros and rest :)
That closing sushi looked incredible! It's amazing what good snow conditions can do, you guys made great mileage each day. So happy you got a great break too recovery in Mammoth.
I'm afraid those following you by a week are going to have a tough time with more slush and postholing that you got to avoid most of the day, and their river crossing may be much wetter with the melt and lack of snow bridges. It's snowing here at about 2500 feet elevation in north Oregon. The PC runs along here at 4000-6000 feet, but it should be in pretty good condition by the time you get here in July, although there may be blow down to scramble over since we can't see under the 10-foot snow cover in likeliest areas.
Go Rocket 🚀
Saw you guys in Sam and Moriah vlog! You guys were having way
Too much fun and it was great seeing it! 👏👏👏
Dude. You all are savages!!!
FYI. Weather is gonna get better but then you will have at least 1 or 2 more weather events with one in early June that will dump snow on you up in mountains. Just a heads up. Probably sometime between June 3-12 it might snow. Could be between June 1-15.
Then after that you’ll be good for second half of June. July you will have some monsoon rains coming out of the desert with lightning. Just FYI. Usually not until July. Build up takes a few days then releases than it’s good for a few days.
I use to do a ton of wet foot hacking back in my gold prospecting days, that’s a smell I don’t miss lol
Yeah mammoth is a resort town so it’s not as hiker friendly. Tho the businesses are. Just not all the drivers. Nice you are with Sam and moriah who I’ve been following too. They are great. Good you thing you got into mammoth when you did. I have been following several hikers this year snd one hiker got stuck alone in that blizzard around Muir pass. He ended up getting off trail once he hit Tahoe and I know that wasn’t his plan but I think it was beyond traumatizing to be out in that. Glad you are in a bubble of hikers and possible tramily. The sierras are so much better done as a group. Especially the river crossings. Enjoying your posts. Glad you got to enjoy mammoth 🦣
The drought / lack of snowpack looked pretty shocking in the Southern Sierras, especially seeing the west face of Whitney completely bare in mid May, but it looks like a complete reversal of fortune up in this stretch.
What a difference you get starting the PCT early and later. Jupiter just started the PCT, and probably won’t see any snow or need as many zeros. Not bustin your chops, just an observation. Start later, avoid the wintry wonderland. That will be my strategy when the time comes.
Definitely pros and cons to different start times.
Starting later you end up dealing with the desert heat in the Southern Cali section and the triple digit summer heat in the northern Cali section, but less snow in the Sierra section.
Got a real life
@@coreyl1201 ? I have a great real life that includes a shit ton of backpacking. Do you have a problem with me learning a little something from watching these videos so I can put it to use in my own situation in years to come? I’m an actual long distance backpacker, unlike many of the couch-potato viewers. So, you get a real life, troll! It will never be as good as mine.
You are all AWEsome!!!!!! 😀🙏☮️🌟🧡♥️💙🥰🆓💖🌈🌹
And remember it never rains in sunny California but it snows that weird flipping times memorial Day weekend when this comes out and snow might be coming to Tahoe it's definitely raining up country from my house
Damn. I ended up slowing down to 8-15 miles a day through there because it was too beautiful and I kept stopping early to camp at epic spots. I also went through in June so there wasn't really any snow left
That’s the way to do it. Why rush through the most epic part of the PCT? Slowing down to soak it in makes room for more amazing memories. Although if it’s cold and miserable, I guess rushing makes more sense.
You're doing very well. That was really pushing it. Good reason to have Heetsheet Emergency blankets and extra food. Are you using waterproof socks? If those water crossings are going to get worse as the snow melts, someone in your tramily should have a 100'+ piece of paracord to help with stream crossings. Safe travels. Good Luck, Rick
Hello 👋👋👋
Still doing very well and remember this was a lower snow year for California Sierra's many passes ahead though
Hi 👋
Lassen North snow almost gone in the Cascades but plenty of rain
@@dougruby8190 can you visit my video
Thanks!, You guys are so cool.
Sierra miles: 1 Sierra mile equals 2.5 miles anywhere else
Sometimes it’s best to just not give a shit. I agree!😂
Thank you for sharing, my wife and I look forward to your videos. I have a question; do you post as you’re traveling, or do you wait until you’re done and then post every couple of days? We recently started a Vlog and I tried doing it while we were on our trip and it was a pain. Thanks again.
I love watching your videos! Coming from Guam, wondering what’s the best service provider to have on the trail? How much does your pack weigh without water?
Cool jacket 0:06, Julia!
What brand is it?
Wow it's beautiful place I really like nature that's why I explore my country Pakistan 🇵🇰 I always invite my country when you want to come or explore 🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰
What an incredible 8 day stretch, and huge miles. What brand of shorts is Cory wearing? Thanks
They are swimshorts from walmart 😂
Cut the mesh out and let the boys breathe
After watching I'm thinking of packing my neoprene cycling socks which are great for cold and wet conditions. In hindsight, besides the creek crossing shoes would you have packed such socks?
Big mileage. What’s the rush? Do you have a end time commitment? You guys are crushing the miles. Safe Travels
Yeah
We are actually hiking at the same pace as most other hikers actually. We just started earlier due to the permit system.
Anyone having the norcal blues?
You'll have to come back and take some more time - maybe do the SHR.
Its up on the ridgeline above the PCT/JMT. High alpine lakes, meadows and x-country passes.
@@jls935 Your permit-system controlled start date seems to have been much earlier than the normal or ideal start date range? My guess is that the snowpack was less in 2022 per your videos. If so you were lucky, as well as plucky for making it all work so well for you. Admirable.
Hey, one quick question: I think you have used both Alpaca hoodie as well as Alpha Direct hoodie. So, which one did you like more and why?
Any thoughts on snow shoes for any of this section or not worth the weight?
what video editor do you use?
How was the pizza in Kennedy Meadows?
My first booger cam
I will slide that spot and get snow burn on my bum one day
What shoes did you get?
Any time I can ask a nurse to look at the owee on my butt . . .
