Honestly, Uhura’s taunt is close enough to the “well THAT just happened” style of dialogue they keep shoehorning into new Trek that this might not even be an intake

I think that's the genius of the intakes. The cut is long enough that we get engrossed in the show and the intake sneaks up on us.

It's why Enterprise doesn't carry a JAG officer or a counselor. Pike just had to have a stylist.
