First thing first, thanks for sharing your view with me and other players. I really appreciate that.
I personally believe there is no GOOD or BAD grid, or even CORRECT or WRONG grid in Granblue Fantasy, because you simply go for the one that suits your lifestyle or playstyle best, and that's it.
It is not about, "hey, the optimised grid contains 4 these weapons and 3 that weapons, so everyone who wants to be powerful must follow exactly this path."
NO~ I don't think that's the way to enjoy a game.
Instead, we should explore and discover every bit of fun that is not listed in Wiki or on the internet, by experiment, research, or by your own means.
Ask yourself one single question: "Do I start playing Granblue Fantasy because I want to get the most powerful Primal Grids in this game?"
If the answer is yes, congratulations, you've got yourself a very meaningful goal.
If the answer is no, congratulations too, you've found the essence of playing a game, and you can lead a wonderful life playing any games, not just Granblue Fantasy.
The best thing about Granblue Fantasy is that you can always create something you feel comfortable through trials and errors, and your weapon grids in your phone only matter to you, not anyone else. Highlander Grid is one such example, it is just a personal choice, it doesn't mean it is flawless or perfect innovation compared with all the so-called 'orthodox' weapon grids. Everyone should understand it has its pros and cons too.
But... if the results are fun, why not? Why afraid of trying something new? NEVER LIMIT YOURSELF just because everyone is doing exactly the same thing. Highlander Grid is a choice to go off-route, without hurting anyone.
Not so bad once you try it, right?
ive been personally theory crafting a build centered around caim/SoD/All-Might Battle Axe but personally im not sure if the world is ready for it, it seems like it could work really really well or really really poorly but thats just gbf for ya
Hey there koon, ur vids did help me quite a lot when i was new and the mindset u have is fine and frankly I love that mindset
But personally i think that the words used "wasting time on m2" can be extremely misleading as i do think m2 is better investment because they do perform well in most common scenarios in mind. As well as some important context should be clarified such as the comparisons between m2 and highlander or u can give ways to compensate for losing the raw power u had from most elements' magna to make highlander work, like for example one of my friends plays highlander rf and uses song flb as his method of abusing cap without ulb opus
But in general i just felt like the topic can and should be explained in a wider context due to the amount of options you have with it. Not doing so, esp if u dont want to emphasise on ulb opus is core so mid game players can try them, it will likely mislead a lot people
@@xero-cage6853 The consistency right? That's the problem of Highlander Grid until we got flb dark opus. I think It should be fine if you could throw in 1 or 2 primal weapons there.
@@dexydraws9272 I'm in fact using 4* dark opus for highlander grid, and I find them super fun to play with even without the flb one.
It is a good grid to handle nearly most daily contents, but like I said, it is not all-rounded or flawless grid for everything like OTK or Proud+, because these special circumstances need something else to tackle with, just like we would have to switch from Berserker to other class to make sure everyone pass the raid. Being flexible is the key.
I have no meaning to belittle M2, but I personally skipping that M2 grind, because there is a way to skip them and survive... not just highlander... :P
@@CrusaderKoon this is for dark highlander only yes? nah i was thinking of doing an earth highlander with that build but the only save worthy weapons i have is 2 stratomizers lol. dark highlander could work for me, only thing is i have a fallen sword and the new grand staff i forget the name

I'm recently just starting focusing on building up on weapon grids since I already got the characters I wanted in the game (thanks Gachapin) sans the Eternals (well, I only started roughly a year ago) and all your GBF videos are helping me a ton with my game so I really appreciate your videos and thankful for all the help, tips and insights you give us. 8D

in fact, we don't need to have the scale at slv15 for 20% ATK up and 10% DMG cap, because it has no slv.
the slv only affect the dark skill DMG cap.
3:33 A better highlander grid for dark would be an enmity based one which includes a ribbon (s zoi weapon), gisla, blutgang and i think a vagabond with of course ulb opus. Enmity is a very strong mod and since zoi exists being in quite low health is easy. This enables some helpful set ups with the right characters.
I feel that highlander grids in general are a risky investment, because as you mentioned they need both grands and ulb opus to work. To be able to clear lucilius and also farm other weapons you will need to have good enough grids already so M2 can't be really skipped. In comparison to full whale primal in grids in most cases highlander grids fall short in higher def content or require even more grand weapon investment to really work.
While i can understand that you mean good by this video, i feel there will be people who may bar things left and right in different eles and make grids that will not really perform as expected.
Granblue fantasy isn't a game that really punishes you for taking things easy, but if you spend those bars unwisely then that is a different story...
What i want to say is that people shouldn't think about investing in highlander grids unless you are rank 170 and up and also have knowledge of the game. Knowing about this aspect of the game is good but don't try to rush.

I heard a lot about this scales grid (or Caim grid, thanks to the evoker) but never really took a look at the numbers. It really is impressive and I got really tempted to make one, but I'm one of the guys who has already spent so many hours farming those cookie cutters grid, I don't think I have the heart to start a completely new one.
Nevertheless, it's good to know it's an option, if some day I decide to change.

The most fun part about this weapon is how flexible it lets you be with your grinding goals. It's a great feeling collecting an assortment of weapons instead of focusing on duplicates!
Indeed, it is fun to mix and match a grid different from other players, instead of following the 'meta' blindly. :)
You forgot to emphasize on the fact that a highlander grid without ULB Opus is MUCH less consistent than even standard M2 grid though... Telling people to aim for this grid when they can reach cap is maybe they way you do so, but even then a to make a highlander grid work folks must invest at least 1 goldbar which, to be fair, could gone to unlocking and FLB-ing Eternal instead, so for new and casual player, those factors is quite a headache imo.
Positively though, these investment are the same for M2 alike, just the difference is that if you have top-tier via luck sack and you only aim for a grid let you go through GW safely, you can forget ULB Opus.
arguably one gb for ulb opus is better than some flb eternals, no matter if you are using highlander grid or not
Yep, skipping 1-2 Eternals for ULB Opus instead is benefitcal in some elements, but my point is Koon should have given ULB Opus the emphasize it deserve because they are THAT crucial to highlanders, and aiming for the lastest endgame goal is something casual and newbie reclutant to do in my opinion.
this video is very misleading imo highlander is worse than m2 without ULB opus and no new player can get ULB opus except they have really strong carry. This video make it seem like you can skip m2 to get highlander but you need m2 to be able to fight faa hl to get ULB opus in the first place so you still need to farm for m2 grid anyways.

Sorry to disagree with you this time koon, but i think highlander grid really need a ulb opus in order to works( which usually requires your grid to be completed whole as magna 1 or 2 or either primal to clear faa san hard mode) hence the grinding process cant be skipped just like that

Very nice video Koon. Some people in the comments got salty lol. It's not only about the dmg cap, maybe someone doesn't even care about that. The most important for me is that you don't have to grind your soul for m2 weapons and save valuable time for your life.
Exactly. Maybe I'm a bit shallow, but M2 grids won't stay forever... so I'm a bit reluctant to spend my time grinding them.
Highlander grid is a noob bait, people go crazy as soon as they see "damage cap" on a weapon while they can't even cap. Highlander is niche, not the main way to go
Highlander is good, I understand, but it seems like you'll need a *5 opus for each elements to fully utilize one. And I only have 2 *4 magna opus at the time I wrote this. I'm currently on my way to the third and fourth *4 (wind and water magna opus).
If you are not too particular about the dmg output, I think 4* is fine, but it's less consistent.

Aven though i am rank 133 today, i don't have ANY completed grids. I most of them i have like... 4M1 weps, 1 seraphic, 1Baha dagger, 1beast wep, 1xeno wep (i actually have 2 in total), and 2 or 3 fillers.
And this is like this since a while now. Because i don't have the time/motivation to farm for CCW, Ultimas, Dark Rapture or even M2 weps.
I do have decents grids, maybe, but i didn't even thinked the damage caps could be a problem a day (except for my fire party which always hit the cap with skills).
Thanks Koon, i will always consider using a Highlander grid if a day i hit the damage caps.

Hi Koon. I love your video. I had been watching you since I'm a newbie. Now I'm almost reach 225.
But I don't think advertising these grid as a way to save resource and time is a good thing. People might get the wrong idea about it.
Yes it give high cap but also sacrificed raw power so much that you will not reach it without buff,debuff or enough power from the grid itself or all of it.
Yes it quite reliably for average raid just like you show on the video but.
- How often do you need that much power when farming these raid?
- How much is the benefit of more cap for these type of raid to justify investment on highland instead of just using standard magna 2?
- Will you make it just to do non NM150 GW?
You will never bring this grid to any null element and pround fight.
Whatever standard Primal or Highlander grid It's still a hugh investment. People should think carefully before the investment or they will regret later. Rather than highlander as a goal I would only recommend it as a stop gap between progression to the true primal grid as the real goal.
Also meta change all the time. The recent example would be the cosmic uncap that push chev sword to the whole new level for magna. Maybe one day the power creep will be so high that highlander will be the standard go to grid that cap on everything but how far away?
And lastly It's a very bad Idea to make an investment near the annivesary so be wary.
Cosmo grids are just as strong, not as easy though.
Kind of a similar premise, if you have a few of the same weapon type.
ill just put this right here since it seems fitting, i would not recommend putting an ultima (specifically one with auto attack cap up) in a primal highlander grid.
the unboosted but extremely diluted normal atk mod of the ultima just make the increased cap harder to reach compared to slotting in a weapon that with a less diluted modifier.
i run zephyrus with 4 grand weapons (1 of each) and know this problem too well, and thats saying something since wind has a bunch of super strong buffers.
if you dont care about not capping autos and just want to slot in ultima with skill cap up for 10 million nukes then go ahead, big numbers are nice to see.

Hi Koon... about SoD, is it worth Exchanging it with anniv ticket? Many people don't recommend it so I'm confused which weapon to trade. And there's majestas.. 😂
honestly i find it easier to farm M2 grid with bonus drop event than farming scales of dominion except farming those M1.5 weapons because they seems to have much lower drop rate compare to M2. aside of that i agree it highlander makes thing so much easier to build especially for primal.
personally, i think highlander grid is more like a grid which allows your to substitute the weapon grid that you are lacking of. This grid popularized in primal since you need alot of dama and certain weapon to maximize the perfect primal grid. However, this grid allows you to temporary sub out the needs of grand weapon replicas so that you are able to play primal grid even without the needs of certain replicas, in other words, highlander grid is good for first time primal player who wish to play primal but lack of most of weapon that requires for maximizing primal grid. Overall is good for some point but late game i dont think is that good comparing to traditional primal build. Magna was quite debating since most of magna weapons are easy to obtained while most of us are lacking of damage cap, so this could really shine magna grid for some point but still, traditional grid is way better than this.

Koon-nii how about the Grande's HL weapons 4* ? Does it helps alot for example magna I's weapons grids? Like tiamat gun grid/Levi dagger/yggy sword/lumi sword and Celeste claw grid? Is it better than having to grind for m2 weapons?

No hard and fast rule for Highlander grid afterall.
I somehow managed to dish out exaggerating dmg with cheap grid :P
FLB Cosmos is modifier dependant so not that effective for AES imo, but for standard ULB M1 grid it's fine, big HP pool and stuff
I think before farming this, you should have a solid magna grid. After that you can go for that staff. The boss debuff is quite headache for me every time I'm joining or host to farm. And don't encourage people leeching, especially new players. I'm find out this while I'm desperately build earth grid. Try to do damage in a raid, specially magna2. When you reach over 250k~300k honors, congratulations you got blue chest. Don't feel give up you don't see weapon drop, farm those Anima is scary than that.

I'm sorry koon I usually enjoy your videos but I can't agree with pushing highlander grids as a "way to skip the grind." Since for most progressing players, they aren't going to be capping when making this grid. You still need a decent magna 2 grid.
I personally think this is the shortcut for BUDGET primal.. not for M2..
Highlander will lose its purpose if they can't hit the cap.. NM150 in guild war is the living proof LOL..
On top of that you can't properly otk ex+ with a highlander grid
@@moge-kosenpai6734 I wouldn't even call it a shortcut for budget primal outside of earth. Since most other elements either require the same investment in bars to make it; or have grids that you can farm without spending the bars to make highlander (for example prometheus, hector, and morrigna grids). In the case of dark highlander, 3 gislas is going to be more flexible then barring 3 different weapons to make highlander work.
If we talk about dark, i think i'd prefer giving 3 bar to 3 grand weapon, instead of gisla..
unless we can lucksack gisla from ssr tix.
I'd prefer to give 9 damas to Fallen sword.
Although I made Highlander for dark because I damas my blutgang by mistake , and damas my parazo for MH.. so adding 1 FS will complete my highlander.. If I can rewind time, I will choose 3 - 4 FS instead though LOL
for budget primal, I have to agreed with you.. it will be earth ( will be better if we have caim ).. or wind if people wanted to. Rather than 1 reunion + 2 LE + 2 grimspear , people can try 1 reunion + 1 LE + 1 grimspear for shortcut. although the DPS for Unius grid is far better..
For water, light, fire, and dark highlander = it will work on low def enemy but on HL content the DPT will be quite shitty.

My question is. How do you know when you reached the cap? There's an indicator that tells you that?
The only thing I was told is that when your damage can't go further of certain number. But that implies buffs, debuffs, etc. Or just your damage without skills?

I am running magna because for primal, I still doesn't have enough dama to compensate.
I have a question, what do you mean by special? Is it the EX Weapons?
I meant moon weapons and other weapons with special skills, such as Taming Sari, Excalibur etc..
When you use this kind of grid. It is better to use double magna summon or just go one magna/power summon?
I guess Magna + element, but you can always try both setups, as the grids go different for every player :)
is it ok not to have grand weapon for my highlander grid? i only have sandy weapon for my earth grid.

gbf.wiki/Shiva_(Summon) this should help you do cap, if you play fire and u have 5 of this grabbing another from friend list will give you 6, resulting in capping for a whopping 6 turn

Sarasa and esser are gemerally good qol options cuz they are good regardless of flb for stuff like makig arcarum less miserable, slime, ez th9, otherwise six is good without having to flb as well

Koon, I have 3 eden atm. Can i create highlander grid and what should i fill the others?
I mix up my light highlander with Eden, Bow of Iliad, Ivory ark, Certificus, Chev sword, Xeno gun, hollowsky axe, dark opus, seraphic. Going to FLB Taming Sari soon.
can you make such guides for magna 1 and 2, and for late gmae grids?
I would try, but I can't promise, cause I'm not sure if I have enough time for late game grids. Too time consuming lol.

I tried it once, but the result was not really satisfying, because my weapons especially my earth bow and dagger are not good enough to carry.

Question 1, heres a page on wiki regarding dmg cap

Question 2, look at how much cap up u have in your grid and buffs(like seraphic or skill/summon buffs like rage4 or baha/freyr) and calc based on the numbers from the link above
Question3, dmg cap is universal, all grids are subjects to dmg cap which is why highlander grids are considered "good" for LOWER DEF contents
Q4, no, m2 are not a waste of investment due to how little raw power u have with highlander grids so u end up not reaching cap and falling behind m2 instead, unless u have an ulb opus, which u probably cant get without a completed m2grid anyways because u need to fight faahl, highlander shouldnt ever be considered unless u have specific strats like abusing song flb crits.
I suggest u do read some of the other arguments in the comment section as they do provide a clearer picture on the issue

Since the meta has advanced so much, and I'm still on M1 grids because low internet speed and not so much time to play I have since given up my own hope in the game and quit overall, guess I'll just continue for the story though.

Koon I have one question, Highlander primal use 2 primals? I can make wind primal but I just have Grimnir
Generally if ur grid isn't based on 100% crit with double primal/magna, u can run primal/magnaXele no problems, but do read up on other comments on highlander as they do provide a clearer picture to the issue
Shouldn't be a problem. But make sure you try every mix and match to get the best results :)

But the gist is without ulb opus its hard to recommend it to people due to the lack of raw power from grid unless u have really good characters to back it up
Otherwise magna is generally worth more of your time because u invest in m2 and u can go into pretty much any tier of content and perform well
With highlander its pretty hard to use it in higher defense contents
At the end of the day its up to u if u wanna grind for m2, or highlander and then get back to m2 grind again

Arcarum summons, Primarch summons, beast weapons, moon weapons etc, they all help to raise the cap for magna grid btw
i think doing a highlander magna is pretty bad without dark opus *5, full seraphic and some ultima / baha / grand
Not really. I'm using 4* dark opus, and I consistently hit 700-800k with a half-baked grid. 1mil normal hit is not uncommon. :)

welp. all this about skiping M2. i think Dark, earth and wind is mostly get benefit using highlander grid since their chara buff is insane. like the video said, you can reach the cap as long you have hugh amount buff. like mostly zodiac chara, diciple primach and so on. like koon said you want a grid that can reach dmg higher. not a grid that where you can just auto without using buff and racing all content.

What do you mean with special weapons? I thought u meant EX weapons but they also appear in the list?
Mainly weapons u use for specific purposes rather than grid staples

This well, kinda wrong and right. Wrong is about hitting damage cap. Here is my finding for anyone eager to make highlander grids. I have tested highlander in every elements without ulb opus.
The only element that perfrom well are; primal dark highlander (easy 800k autos and 4.8m ougi), primal earth (well duh, Caim), Magna Fire (you need to have yuisis fire and anilla though to hit 800-900k autos), water staff highlander with ca ong staff (very niche and limited, you need full staff team,),
Honestly, magna highlander is just bad, but if you have primal, go for it, it is not bad, but you will out perform with full primal grid.
Soooo the conclusion is: if you cannot afford primal grid, you can go with primal highlander, but you need to have strong chara aswell,
Magna highlander is not good, go with M2 instead.

Actually you don't need to go through difficult math. When you reach 450k single hit, just go for 600k, and then 800k or even higher. :)

Def. need ulb opus for highlander. Highlander isn't really a skip for grind...first getting the specific wep. and then leveling up, must have opus for it to work nicely. Just do your m2, before even thinking of this tbh.
5* is good, but not a must I believe. If one is not very particular about the consistency of dmg output, Highlander grid is fun to play with.
@@CrusaderKoon Ok you right about the consistency damage output. Though I still don't like the mindset or telling newbie that highlander is a skip for m2 or m2 is a waste of time. Just that wording is not good.

How to know when you near cap?
for example if you are fighting a dummy and do 300k per normal attack, then use some buffs on your party and debuffs on the dummy. If you still do 300k thats the cap. Thats a way to find out.

After I watch this video I make a plan to get the SoD, then the anniversary tickets coming but anyone say if SoD is bad for early player.
Can anyone help me pick the weapon for my dark grid? Or anyone have a video that I should watch? Fyi. I still in M1 grid.
Although it is totally fine to exchange for SoD, I think it is more important to focus on M2, and prepare enough materials for future primal grids first. SoD is great, but it is very hard to unleash its full potential, unless you have powerful weapons to carry the whole grid.
It's a bad pick if you haven't even completed M1 dark yet, but it is a good long term investment if you have the patience

I think my game is broken. I up DMG cap weapons in my Grid but can't go over 17million total damage.
I have been farming for this past 6 month but I still can't get a single drop even though I host it, mvp it, n even bounty it😭😭😭😭
scales of dominion don't drop from a gold chest. Using bounty is useless for that.

@@ongsoon1336 Never dama farmable weapons, damas should be saved for only when you have all the pieces at hand to make a primal grid of your choice. Gacha weapons aren't farmable after all.

Hm... the weapon is not really that helpful at rank 101 in my opinion. Maybe you can try something which can boost your damage output first, and then come back to this grid after rank175, that should do the work.

To be more specific : I have Ichigo (Cain's Katana) and Alexiel's Dagger (Grand one) with Opus skill level 15. Is it legit to use magna SoD template you showed in this video? Kinda want to go for it, but scared that I will waste my damas for nothig.
Opus ulb is oretty mandatory for highlander, (for earth VERY specifically) unless u have caim in the backline
Its still hard to justify or recommend going highlander because u lose so much power just swapping to highlander from standard m2 and end up not reaching cap
U can also read other arguments in the comment section, they should provide a clearer picture to the issue
It works. And it depends on how well you want the weapon grid to work.
If you're very particular about the dmg output, go 5* Opus.
If you are a casual man like me, even 4* Opus are fine.

how do you know if you're hitting the cap?
When you have powerful weapon and you can't go over 500k damage per hit, you know something is missing ;)

ULB dark opus is solid requirement for highlander, good luck to those going to farm SOD blindly after this video and end up not even hit as hard as traditional grid
Yeah prolly want all the cap up weapons and misc fillers for the grid before you try.
This. Highlander is just Enmity dark and Earth with caim + fully finished grid + ulb opus, other elements are not worth and doesnt matter

Not the case if you have Caim. I'm just using an earth magna highlander with him, only 4* opus, and my damage is pretty ridiculous. MC's autos cap at 870k (though I still need Cagliostro's buffs and Uriel + Hanged Man sub-aura to hit those numbers)
@@OyVeey need multiple buff to reach cap means you are not consistent, even with caim. I myself run complete primal dirt highlander, I had been in stage of flb opus too, the difference is significant
No way the scales have 0.5% drop chance in blue chest I got an mlb within a month of farming and I didn't even go ham at it I just spent 1 strike time every day dedicated for it

For me the general progression a player should go thru is smt along the lines of
R1-100: get your m1 mlb for as much eles as u can + 0*sr seraphic along the way
R101-120: prep phase for hl, by unlocking row 4 or ex2 classes while u flb some important grid pieces that would be transitioned into m2
R121-154: midgame m2 grind, maybe leech faa for opus
R155+: welcome to hl, u should start hosting ubhl trains as well as work on some akasha weapons, but at this point u probably have an idea of what to do
