That's how you get old!! Staying active no matter what, enjoying life in all its simplicity, going with the flow without worrying. Pure inspiration Chico, and not just in skateboarding!
I had Chico boards back in the early 90s 🤘🏾. I went to sleep on skating about 20 years ago... It's great waking up and seeing familiar faces still lingering. Skateboarding is ageless. Get it straight kids. Someday, hopefully you'll be 45 years old and still have the motivation and agility to shred. Remember that when you youngsters see us old skaters out there. We didn't just pick this shit up. We're still on our boards out of our pure love of skateboarding 😍. Either you have it or you don't.
Late comment here. Moved to SF in the summer of 94 and caught the tail end of the essence of this vid. A great feeling that’s hard to describe. An era of skateboarding that I’m happy to be a part of. I hope that this vibe will continue through the generations to come.
Very nice, I remember when I was 19 years old and watch the chocolate tour on VHS, and go to skate inspired. Now I 37 year old and enjoy to see this Guy doing the same cool things! long life to Chico ! good vibes from Brazil
I met this dude at Potrero recently. He’s super rad. He asked me if I had nollie heels then I filmed him doing a tre up the step up for his insta. For sure a legend. Got hella respect for him.
"Gotta keep moving..." -Chico Brenes After life/skate altering injuries...this is truly the most important thing. Enjoy your health while you have it kids... Lol.
There’s a lot of og dudes that everybody wants to see but they don’t put out footy because there over it or what ever. I hope more stuff comes out from MJ and jerry hsu etc. people want to see that shit
I'd love to see it, Jerry Hsu is such a cool dude too. Met him once and he asked about the meaning of my board writing. Super respect his and MJ's style too. Would put Karl Watson in there too
Chico was a part of a massive momentum in skating that still lives on today. EMB was a special time and place. Those days are gone. Skating and street culture will never be the same. Crazy how we all have to move on... some of us more elegantly than others. Chico is really growing. City living. Skating. Surfing. Rolling. Parenting. This is leveling up kids. Learn from one of the best to do it. Cheeks. EMB OG. Don’t fade - shine.
Truly inspiring met him at Pier 7 and automatically felt welcome, mad respect. He got me to find a new love for skating which is try bigger boards. Now I don’t worry about having the madness to getting a trick but rather to just have fun on the board.
I sprained my ankle really bad and was barely able to walk right for over a year... at 34 years old it was devastating. Finally it got better and I was able to bike and skateboard.. and truly appreciated it more than ever!
The bit about road biking was super inspiring. I too have recently bought a road bike(mines a Giant too) and have felt like a new person on my skateboard.
Chico crushed me in a game of Skate on the Hot Chocolate Tour when I was 15, him and Danny Castillo 😂. But it was the best time, they kicked it with me, we shared laughter, and I saw what skating in the Matrix looked like. Such great dudes, I’ll never forget that day.
seen Chico in Daly City, and I usually dont bother a celebrity or semi famous person. I respect their privacy. He was right in front of me in line, turned around, and we locked eyes, so I said whats up. He was super cool in the brief moment with a random stranger. EMB, pier 7, hubbas, and the new spot bring back a lot of memories skating with the homies. Some of the best times of my life and gives me joy thinking about it even thought I havent skated in like 10 years. freedom at its best when I was a kid.
Chico Brenes! Chico Brenes! Remember that from the old video (DVS skate more) i was watching when i was 15 back in cold russian winter sitting home changing wheels or kingpins on my trucks and wanted to go skate so bad. Im 29 but somehow still when i watch Chico skate he makes me want to go out and skate! Dude is just so natural, much respect from Russia
Yo I met him at tompkins in 2016 and he was so chill. It was in the morning he was just like "im chico nice to meet you" giving me his hand and i was yeah I know you.
That's how you get old!! Staying active no matter what, enjoying life in all its simplicity, going with the flow without worrying. Pure inspiration Chico, and not just in skateboarding!
You notice bearings never rust if they are always in use? 😋👊🏽
Keep killing it!!
Chico is the humblest and one of the most talented rider.... He stayed the same, that's why i love sk8boarding :)
Wish the video just kept going...
this was fantastic. waylon is a great filmmaker

Proof that having a nice bigger set up just breaks the monotony of skating when you skate all the time. Change the flow up.
Incredible style! One of the greats!

He’s got the dream life
And he’s worked incredibly hard for it.
What an interesting and down to earth dude. More Chico please
Could watch more of this.... Chico is still one of the smoothest. Gerwer walking up was a scene, thanks for sharing!
Fuch yeah Chico! One of the smoothest styles on or off the board.
There’s a lot of og dudes that everybody wants to see but they don’t put out footy because there over it or what ever. I hope more stuff comes out from MJ and jerry hsu etc. people want to see that shit

@J. Mtz I'd consider MJ an OG at this point, the Yellow video is over 20 years old...
