  • This video is another mixed bag of technical subject matter on detectors, including #interference , #hugecoils , issues with dark coils, issues with elliptical keeping detectorist's off your patch, huge big drag coils and interference reduction techniques, website updates, new products on the website, accused of working for #minelab giving bad reviews to Chinese copy detectors.

    Very interesting. Id love to hear more about other sources that affect detectors as well as a deeper dive into protecting your lease...

    Hi ,when you were talking about interference in Gippsland years ago, there use to be what they called The omega tower at Woodside in sth Gippsland and was supposed to be for submarine navigation, The tower was i think 500 feet high, we use to drive past it daily and was very high, Its no longer there ,Was in a paddock right beside the sth gippy hwy

    One thing I have found is that the wetting and drying seasonal cycles cause large cracks in the sub soil allowing heavy object to move lower and lower over the years.

    Depend on which type of coil and what direction you squash it. 😉. But in general, I mostly agree. 🦋

    I’d buy your metal detecting waffle book for sure, it would be a good read 🤣

    Can you do a video on using drag coils and what type of detector you use.

    • @DetectorMods

      That would involve making a sled and going for a huge long drive.

    In a room full of detectors you lose a piece of gold?

    So Woody would the original coil on the SDC be better than the 10x5 coiltek coil for finding Gold?

    • @DetectorMods
      @DetectorMods  3 дні тому +1

      It depends on construction, we put a 12” nugget finder advantage coil on a sdc and I was much better on all fronts.

    Do you make the coils rigid/hard to get minimal tribo-electric effects ? I had some questions but my posts seems to disappear

      I'm want to build a detector, just for fun of building, not to save money. There is no gold here but there is been a lot of fighting in ww2 and people are living on this island for over 1000 years.
      What is a good value for the self-inductance and what is the best Q for me (at what frequency, I can measure L and Q upto 6 GHz 🙂 ) It is hard to find good technical information. A lot of channels have no clue what they are doing, just building something. You are the first I find who really knows his business.
      I want to build and design a pulse detector. I am an EE and have a well equipped shop because I repair measurement, calibration-gear and marine-electronics for a living,

      Once upon a time I was working on marine radios and radar systems, then went into point to point microwave links, fm transmitters and satellite receivers, then into dirt transceivers lol It is a steeper subject than satellite comms.
