Stay tuned for more crazy!
Long overdue, old school wash and talk.
OG at its best.
Thank you for another great video 👍
These wash and talks were the first things I seen on this channel last year. Love the chill format. Good content does not require 'overthinking'. I need to get that brush you used for the tires. I like that a lot.
These vids are always a treat. A great side benefit (if you want to call it that) of detailing your vehicle(s) is you'll notice issues before they become a bigger problem i.e. damaged wheel well splash shield, new dings, dents, worn brake pads, status of tire tread, a nail in a tire...
I reckon Matty is in for one of those special nights that usually only happens on birthdays and Christmas when Michelle sees that 😂
Women dont care about stuff like that.
@@iluvmyeskicome to California, that’s all woman care about.. having nice things In there life (materialistic) (F+ck there husbands)
Love to hear the optimism. You always keep it real when things are rough or good. Great year ahead for you and your family. Best wishes, thanks for the videos.
Enjoyed this therapeutic video. It was great getting to visit the shop and meet some of the OG team on Friday! Thanks so much for the hospitality Nathan and Chris, and best of luck on the future!
Man I can’t believe Adam hadn’t got you convinced to switch to THE BOSS foam cannon. Man it’s so much better as I’m sure you seen when you washed his car. So many advantages to using it.
Love the OG style video, beginning of the video was great-glad you're back, feeling good, and ready to have a kick ass 2023!
The vacuum on the wall is LEGIT!!!! My wife would want one inside the house lol
I think there’s an opportunity to have someone (maybe Mike) who is passionate about trucks do a truck build OG style. Nice but not too obnoxious. I would watch that for sure
Really like using Gyeon interior detailer for wipe downs. In my experience, it leaves that “no one was here” look you mentioned.
I haven’t watched this yet but at two hours I feel the pain as a fellow raptor owner. It makes washing my wife’s cayenne a breeze 🤣🤣
great to hear you've learned from us that a pre-wash is 100% required.
This is getting fun, we are now solving the problems that were created by the solution to the original problem!
Need more flow, dual kranzle, need a larger oriface, cant hit the dilution targets, then need another foam cannon.
Ive been playing with touchless myself and like it as a prewash, i cant bring myself to just soap and rinse and then dry without washing with an actual mitt.
I agree the obsessed need a car they dont give a crap about for when life happens. I myself have a 22 passport, its the family utility vehicle, it gets dirty first and washed last and i couldn't care less about it. When i wake up and its raining its what i take to work.
Loving the OG style matty videos, you'll need to invite Brian Orr and do an audio only podcast next :)
Hurt my heart when you said you never got it aligned, Matty. lol Always get an alignment with new wheels and / or tires.
Why would that require an alignment. Changing wheels and tires hasn't moved the suspension in anyway. Sure if the overall diameter width etc changed the alignment might be a tad off, but it wouldn't be anything noticeable.
Love the channel! I have a truck on a 11” lift with 37” tires, so I use a 8foot ladder when I wash it😂 I’m in central Florida, so I’m always sweating I death washin the truck. Noticed the mtb in the garage. I was just at Santos this past weekend for fat tire festival!
YES!!! Finally some truck action
Matt, for prewash I can't recommend enough kcx active foam and super foam, dilution is much more reasonable and the 5L price makes alot of sense per use. They're very effective even with the dirtiest cars.
I know you’re going to see this comment and think “this guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about”, but being an accredited installer I see ultra look like this all. The. Time. Coating is still there, I promise you. Take 5 minuets and do this next time you wash it:
Do your pre rinse and everything else, but before you foam it for contact wash, spray Gtechniq’s W9 on the vehicle. Then foam it with reset and continue as normal. Yes it’s a water spot remover, no your truck doesn’t have water spots. It’s a mineral remover. I promise you your coating will come back to day 1. We do this process 2-3x a month on older ultra vehicles we coated years ago and they always, always come back to day 1.
I figured there would be something to bring it back. I'll order some.
Thats some useful information.
Happy to see you smiling:)
I am fairly young dude, and honestly you’re my role model. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, successes and failures
That drop down was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen
Sweet truck. I bet your followers would like the variety of some more truck vids. 👍
Thanks for all the content. I'm sure lots of us will enjoy. May 2023 be the year were you lose all your feelings of anxiety!
I feel you. Been training BJJ consistently for the last three weeks. Was on and off since July until something hit me to stop being a baby.
I also dislike rushing to beat the sun when washing the car.
I had coating hydrophobic issues after one 1 year of csl /exo combo on a neglected work truck. My last resort before taking it off was Gtechniq water spot remover. Restored the hydrophobic properties. Couldn't believe it. Been going for 3+ months now. Maybe something worth testing for the store.
Gen 2 Raptors are notorious for cam phaser issues. You will normally hear the rattle during cold start for 1-2 seconds. Maybe that has something to do with your cam position problem.
Matt, I think you & some others would benefit from a oil drain bin that is on wheels, low to the ground, and has the adjustable catch up top with a anti-spatter piece above the drain.
It's what dealers use primarily but you just have a smaller drain bin that's lower to the ground and also less pole for it.
Coated my e92 with CSL and EXOv2. coming into my 3rd year and it's still going strong. Had one instance where I thought it failed but after a wash it came right back.
Good positive attitude, and a fresh hair cut, that's what I like to hear,👍🏾 and there's nothing else like air blowing through your scalp from a fresh cut 😁
Loving the return to the long-form vids.
Matt. Give the Nitto Ridge Grapplers or the Toyo AT 3's a shot. I have the Toyos (35") on my 21 F150 and I'm quite happy with them. FYI: I had CSU applied to my truck last year and it's held up very well in the bi-polar Oklahoma weather. It helps that I detail it every week. 😂
I will sleep so much better tonight after watching this.
I went to sleep twice while watching.
Matt. BH autofoam works great here in Northern Europe during wintertime. Removes salt and road grime well on coated cars. Mine is coated with CSL and I wash it every week foaming it with ~10% autofoam and rinse with warm water, drying with blower. Works great and no touching needed. Once a month I do more precise wash with touch and use it also then as a prewash. Good stuff.
10% PIR? Holy shit
One of the nicest Gen 2 Raptors I have seen on UA-cam Matt...very tasteful mods!
If your looking for something to make washing these big ole trucks easier, I've been using the chem-X stars and stripes touchless wash on mine and it does a great job. I can wash my f150 in around 15 minutes or so and be done.
The garage will be complete when you get the TV mounted . Looking good . Should be placing an order soon for the season up in NJ .
Yeah, I have a piece to finish the countertop and a really cool backsplash coming. It's going to be sick.
Love the old school format. Appreciate the lunchtime movie length video, Matt!
Good video! Pumped about the wash bay! I always loved your old one
I think Reset smells better than GSF. I too have found the pre wash to make things a little easier, but hard to quantify how much.
Couple tips/suggestions:
- Deploy the running boards before you start washing from the Ford Sync menu OR open the door, step on it while closing the door
- Use a long-handle brush for the wheel wells
- Agreed; Method Bronze would look great on that truck. Coatings will last as well
- Toyo Open Country A/T III - Quieter, much better wet-weather traction, and 3 peak rated for Helen
- Wix Oil filter
- Once you break the filter loose, wrap it in a zip-lock bag using one hand to keep it up against the engine block and the other to spin it
- Use a platform ladder instead of a stand A-frame ladder. It’ll allow you to walk up/down the roof
The coating is probably just clogged. You could likely restore most of the hydrophobics with iron remover and water spot remover. Then clay with the Ultra Clay towel from TRC. Lube it properly and don't use any pressure, you won't scratch or mar the coating. P&S Absolute at 128:1 is super slick as a clay lube.
I agree with this. I do this every 6 months on my coated vehicles that spend 24/7 outside. I like to foam it with CarPro Lift (more basic and good for road grime) and wash it with CarPro Descale (more acidic and does wonders with water spots and mineral etching). Works fantastic.
Appreciate the realistic car/truck wash video. Congratulations on the personal progress!
you should make a crevice vacuum head with an end that has a mix of hard and soft bristles to dislodge stuff and keep air pressure.
i think the secret to windows is wipe quickly then follow up with a almost dry waffle weave. after the product "flashes" its easy to smear
This is the wash and talk i was waiting for
When wheels are neglected you should use and iron based wheel cleaner that way you can get the baked on break dust off.
I’m excited to find what’s the OG ladder is for washing trucks.
Me too! I use Gorilla ladders platform now and its great but, it’s bulky and heavy. Kind of a pain to break out then put away.
On the Raptor, it’s probably cam phasers. The timing chain self adjusts until it can’t anymore. It’s carbon build up in the valve covers.
Valves will start to rattle on start up eventually then total detonation.
Trade it now. Great looking trucks but that engine is rife with problems.
I should probably change my profile pic also.
@OBSESSEDGARAGE. I did?
Tell me it’s a dry ice cleaning package. 😀
I know this probably isn't your style, but you should try gyeon wet coat for the wheels (unless you've tried it before). It would be perfect for the truck that doesn't get pampered regularly like your other vehicles.
Yeah...the problem with Wet Coat and Hydro2 is that I've found when used often, they tend to build up.
@@ObsessedGarage I can see that if used frequently, but I just use it when needed. 1 application lasts 3-4 months, and it's pretty clear when it gone and needs a new coat. Maybe I'll run into that problem some day, I don't know, but it's been great thus far.
I have not had much luck with Gtechniq coatings lasting more than 2 years. I use Gyeon Mohs Q2 and that coating has been much better.
Speaking on vacuum accessories, (fortuitous timing). My wife’s Dyson that just came in (that I gave a 2 second glance and a shrug), these accessories look pretty legit, sitting next to me. Looks like they got clamps to click on, so no, slippage. May want to look, (if) you haven’t already, which, knowing you, you probably did. 😅
Watching your vidoes for years now and when I got my Gen 2 Raptor in 2020 I said to myself... Im going to take care of it Like Matt would.... but then babies happen and its been neglected ever since.. LOL
A drill brush and some soap work wonders on rubber floor matts
Why in the heck would a man who’s been washing cars for longer then you’ve been on this earth Matt be watching this video? And yet here I am an hour and 35 minutes into it. I really need to get a life.
Ha, ha....
When coatings are neglected best soap is descale.
When Matt finds a quarter under the seat 😂
What's the benefit of using a dedicated pre-wash like bilt hamber vs a soap + apc mixture? I've been using GSF mixed with a couple ounces of GS as a pre-wash for awhile now and it has a ton of bite and doesn't even make a dent on OG drying aid
Pour a gallon bottle on its side and slightly back to front as to let the air escape slowly and stop glugging :)
Matt you should’ve put a little graphene fairy dust on those wheels. I’m happy to hear about the Rivian though. I hope it’s Orange!
Where did you get those oil drain pans? Nice and deep unlike everything you get at the box stores. If you could link something that would be great! Thanks
Advance Auto
I think the pre rinse is useful when you haven’t washed a car for a while and it’s really dirty. I’ll maybe wash my bmw in the winter 2 or 3 times between October and April due to weather. In the spring and summer it gets washed weekly so it doesn’t get dirty enough in my opinion to warrant a pre rinse. I’m not use if for your 911 and e90 the pre rinse makes sense as they don’t really get dirty. My 997 is similar as it’s never truly dirty, just needs some minor road grim cleaned off.
I think you might be right. The thing that intrigues me is the possibility of having less marring per wash. This in-turn would lead to the coating lasting longer. But...the thing that holds me back is that you may end up in the same spot needing to redo your coating anyway due to degrading it using the prewash. So we end up in the same spot at roughly the same time either way.
If you used a 4040 size RO membrane filter system before the DI the resin would last an extreme amount of time. You could need to use a holding tank for that flow rate unless you stacked enough 40” RO units together. I think it’s .5 GPM per membrane.
High flow membrane with a booster pump is what would be needed.
because that truck is your case study....:
can you do a good decon wash (decon soap, iron remover and water spot remover) with the Ultra Clay Towel (which it will not marr the paint, Ive put a scangrip light after doing it with no marrying, trick is using A LOT of Glide) and check the hydrophobics? (it might not have water spots but the acidity of the chemical will help unclogging the coating. Im pretty sure the coating is still there...
then a quick machine apply Carpro Essence Plus or Rupes UNO Advance and that coating will revive amazingly well....
Prewash is pointless if not using the right chemicals that actually encapsulate the dirt - like Bilt Hamber Touchless or Autofoam! So good to see them being used. As it’s made in the UK is pretty cheap here so using lots of product isn’t a huge issue. Also, both BH products produce relatively thin foam so it will never get that thick.
CarPro Lift and Gyeon Foam do a pretty good job.
Wow nice cleaning and ur raptor is absolutely sick bro 🥵🥵👍🏻
Matt washing from home: "I forgot everything I normally use for every purpose"
have you considered a amsoil remote oil filter mount? install it where it makes it easy to get to
Hoping with the attention to detailing you do more RW’s. I mean the truck would of (would) be perfect. If it scratches it scratches.
Hey Matt, do you mind sharing info on your bike rack? I'd love to get my bikes up and out of the way! Thank you in advance..

Might be a little off topic,
You talked about maybe wanting to get the RUF Scr in the future.
What are your thoughts about Reimagined by SINGER, especially the DLS version?
Potentially more expensive than RUF, but I personally find them absolutely stunning and the attention to detail in my opinion is really cool, not that I have the means to buy it in the near future if ever, but that would be my choice for sure.
I'm not a singer guy. I think they are cool, but I'd never want one. I prefer the bespoke, new Ruf.
Some greenie’s head exploded when he dumped the oil in the trash can!!!
It was into the 5L container.
@@ObsessedGarage I assumed so I just missed it in the video.
Koch Chemie SFN would do the same thing as the BH. Awesome way to get the majority of junk off the paint. And didn’t you say Dr. Beasleys makes a matte wheel coating?
Will be interested to see where Matt located the new wash bay.
The finish on my method 305's in black isn't the best either, not horrid but not great. Lug nuts needed to be replaced after 3 years due to heavy rusting. Agree with many below that Toyo is the way to go, they recently upgraded A/T to new "xtream weather rating" which makes a good deal of different. Prior set of Toyo A/T were not rater xtream and suffered massively in snow, although irreverent to Florida boys.
Imagine Matty seeing a salt gritter in the UK, or having to drive past one when it peppers salt and grit all over your car
What time in the morning do you start your detailing…to avoid the FL sun and water spots
I should have started around 7AM.
What would a proper ladder be for cleaning trucks? I was hoping you had a partnership on good ladders as well. :)
I haven't figured that one yet.
What's the height of the step ladder that you are using?... I'm thinking of getting one but I'm not sure what height is the most suitable for huge cars like mpv... I don't want it to be too tall as well as I'm doing mobile and I don't want to carry huge stuff in my car
I was using a 3ft step ladder.
Since you don’t care about the truck… give it to me… I’ll love it… crazy about Raptors . Put an OG Spec decal on it, I’ll drive it around Augusta, it will look great next to my M3 and E70
Nice job on the truck!
BH Auto Wheel would have been perfect for those wheels, might have helped the coating.
Would love to see a rivian on the channel
Really think you should stay at this house for a long time, make it yours and enjoy it.
I don't know about a long time, but I do plan on staying for a while.
Next, week. Guys I have sold the house
Fyi.....a good matte detail spray will revive the finish on the wheels. Had the same issue on some TRD pro wheels.
Really? I regularly clean two TRD Pro 4Runners. About the most difficult vehicles I clean because of the wheel design/finish and roof rack. But damn, they are about the best put together vehicles I touch.
Isn't this the SDR Raptor that he did the 101 detailing/polishing/coating training for the guy that was gonna be at a garage he designed? It's been less than a year and the coating is dead?
It feels like a lifetime ago, but year less than a year.
@@ObsessedGarage so is the coating failed or just clogged? Seems crazy that the Ultra would be dead.
My dream garage👍🏾
Which brush is that for the tire dressing application???
It’s amazing: obsessedgarage.com/products/detail-factory-curveball-brush
What prewash is this?
what ladder is that?
looking forward to the Rivian...what color did you choose?
White/Black Wheels-Interior
Maybe the rims aren’t clear coated sometimes some cheapo manufacturers do that, and maybe the resin-based coating just didn’t attach itself well?
Matt I have a question about the gt3. How come some gt3’s have that small leather pad on the back of the carbon seat and some don’t? Right below the headrest on the small area of carbon fiber. The pad is inserted where the hole is on the carbon seat. Is it part of the extended leather option? It’s not on the configurator so I was curious. I’m actually not a fan of it. I prefer seat without that small pad.
It's just the generations of the 918 bucket. I believe the earlier cars had it.
I’m not sure how janky they are, but I’ve seen automatic doggy doors advertised, where it would basically interact with an nfc chip on Chase’s collar and open when he is near it.
Also, how do you feel about aftermarket tail lights? I wish manufacturers would stop putting lights with red lenses on non-red vehicles.
2 hours? Merry Xmas to us.
Have black with orange logo shirts ever been for sale? It's been awhile since I've checked in
It was during the 1M giveaway.
1:19 I would suggest Matt get WeatherTech mats that would make vacuuming much easier. But I have a feeling Matt doesn't much like Dave McNeil.
Weathertech is junk. I've bought the 2 or 3 times, and they never fit well.
Weather Tech mats are built to a lower price point. Granted they have different models, but still low on the quality side. I can't stand a rubber mat. I'll take a high pile fabric any day. Clean it when needed and replace when needed. One of the things I don't skimp on is front floor mats.
@@ObsessedGarage what you think of Tuxmats?
Do you still managed clients money or just do OG full time?
Just OG.
Hi Matty love you're videos, but noticed during the last few outside your home the surrounding wall seems beat-up. Does this belong to you or Home owners association?
It's the communitie's, not mine.
