eBooking putting you in control

The Outpatients Service at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) has been trialling new ways of delivering services via non-face-to-face and digital systems during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic to keep patients and staff safe.
One of the transformations being driven forward by the outpatients team is the electronic booking (eBooking) service which gives people who have a smartphone more control over selecting the date and time of their outpatient appointment.

Hello, we are really pleased to share with you one of the digital developments that we are currently undertaking at Morecambe Bay hospitals.
We want to put you in control of your outpatient appointment booking. So if you receive a text that looks like this and it is from NHS-NoReply please do not hesitate to click the link.
To make things secure, you'll receive a unique number which you will enter together with your date of birth. This will allow you to choose a date and a time for your future appointment that is convenient for you. Once you confirm your choice, this will automatically be booked for you and you'll receive an electronic confirmation.
We recognise that not everyone will want to or be able to do this. So the link is only available for 48 hours, at which point the hospital make a booking for you and send a letter confirming the details. We hope to roll this development out to most Outpatient services throughout the next year. So please look out for it and give it a go.
